Drug resistant gonorrhea?  How quickly can Surly create and distribute an ivermectin vaginal suppository to sell to the rubes?

It’s not like we have to worry about FDA approval anymore.   We’re gonna need all of the wreath refund money and a couple swabs from Vic.

They’ll just pack it with horse paste if the right person says it’s ok

“MAGA Ivermectin Suppository For Promise Ring Malfunctions”

You bring up an excellent point. It’s still all in the marketing.

No update from @Mrs Whiggins today, so I guess I'll jump in.

I didn't check stuff on Friday (that DSHS update is gone), so here's how things have changed since last Tuesday (screenshot found in the spoiler).

  • Up to 505 cases, an increase of 83 (22%) since this time last week.
  • Two new counties with cases: Randall (suburban-ish Amarillo/Canyon); Borden (total pop. 572)

    Counties ranked by new cases:
    Gaines (Seminole): +48
    Lubbock: +9
    Dawson (Lamesa): +6
    Terry (Brownfield): +5
    Hale (Plainview): +4
    Ector (Odessa): +3
    Cochran (Morton): +2
Borden (Gail), Hockley (Levelland), Lamar (Paris), Lynn (Tahoka), Randall (Amarillo/Canyon), Yoakum (Denver City): +1

NO CHANGE: Andrews, Brown (Brownwood), Dallam (southside of Dalhart), Erath (Stephenville), Garza (Post), Lamb (Littlefield), Martin (Stanton), Midland

Thank you, @bolverk for the update; Friday had 481 cases but easy to miss as I haven't been including the graphics.

It's annoying that DHHS doesn't archive their updates and I suspect that is not likely to change given reasons I won't bother with at this time.

ABC news had an article discussing the outbreak specific to the region (southwest/midwest) here:

https://abcnews.go.com/Health/rfk-jr-claims-curve-flattening-texas-measles-outbreak/story?id=120554374

and it goes into the likelihood of cases being undercounted, something with which most of us are familiar. Southwestern Kansas has seen cases increase, and again, given that region's lower population base, one hopes that will limit spread, but it's not a given. A Lubbock daycare had 7 children (many were too young to have been fully vaccinated) infected. That's alarming.

El Paso's on deck with three new cases. Gaines County continues to see the most infections (75% of new ones since Tuesday), with 27 new cases.

Here are New Mexico's numbers. Lea County (Hobbs/Lovington) is just west of Gaines County.

Okies won't say where their cases are, but I think it was mentioned a while back they were somewhere in northeastern Oklahoma.

Southwest Kansas outbreak.

Three cases total are reported in Colorado: Pueblo, Denver, and Pagosa Springs.

So far as I know, all the above in these other states can be traced to the outbreak in Gaines County.

Overdue for a TDAP, so went and got it just now. Went ahead and got an MMR because I couldn't recall if I had both shots a half century ago, although I think I had to have proof start classes at UT? I recall getting something at the Health Center my first day on campus (insert STD joke here).

tl, dr; fuck this timeline

Once again, thank you for the update. Oklahoma is predictably stupid about not reporting counties; but the only way one could even try and suss out potential locations is by tracking exposure sites that the media shared. Recently, they've had some exposures in OKC, so speculation might be that those are Kansas cases traveling southward to the nearest metro area for care. (Although Stillwater would be more likely). I haven't followed theirs as closely. One of the news agencies mentioned northeastern Oklahoma and specifically mentioned Weatherford which is NOT northeastern Oklahoma (that would be like Tulsa or Bartlesville) and once again proves the issue with a)fact checking no longer being a thing and b) the giant corps like Fox buying stations coast to coast is shit for true and accurate news.

Northwestern Oklahoma around Weatherford would make a lot more geographic sense.
