In the Northeast for Christmas. 5 adults, 1 two-year old toddler, and 1 two-month old infant.

2YO comes down with diagnosed Flu A on 23DEC. All local family visits/ Christmas canceled.  We hunker down as a group, understanding exposure already occurred. On 24DEC one of the 20-something adults goes down with symptoms. On the afternoon/ evening of 25DEC, the two 30-something adult parents of the kiddos go down to symptoms.  Bedridden through 26DEC. They return to humanity on 27th.   On 30DEC, infant is diagnosed with Flu A. The parents and 2YO child had flu shot this season.

My 50-something  year old ass and wife have remained unscathed.  Weird to us and everyone involved.

I most definitely do NOT recommend flu-camp for Christmas ever again.  Very sucky.

We had a GI viral bug Christmas camp several years ago.  Four adults and two children.  No one was spared.  The onset of the first puke from each person was about an hour apart.  Much better in 36-48 hours, but man it was brutal up to that point.  Would NOT recommend.

We had that when my wife was pregnant with my youngest.  The bug rotated from our first to second to third kid, all of whom I served as puke janitor for because we sure didn't want my wife catching it.  After about 12 hours of no symptoms following PukeFestival3 I was pretty sure I had dodged it.

Nope.

My wife never got it, though.  The oldest was able to clean up after my vomit sessions.  It was lovely.

What does this even mean?

it means that if there’s another pandemic, just like OU in the SEC, she will be out looking for the largest crowds she can, licking doorknobs, drinking after random people, blowing homeless dudes, etc. I told a friend about it, and he said he’s heard similar stuff from family members, about boycotting the next pandemic, for reasons that are CR.

Weird thing for my cousin to say, as she lost her grandma to COVID and it was not a pleasant experience by any means, as a painful death is wont to be, and said cousin’s mom kept everybody updated daily on FB so we basically got a day-by-day recap of her last two weeks of living.  Shoulda scared these people straight.

One of my law school classmates recently told me that he didn’t get a Covid vaccine, but he has been eating ivermectin vet paste and hasn’t had Covid, which proves something, something…Kennedy

Wife has been sick pretty much since she came back from Texas Sunday afternoon, started with an ear ache and has progressed to vomiting, fever and chills...  Happy New Year, everyone!

Oh there were a shit-ton of folks licking doorknobs to get their free vacations during covid.

If those types get sick going forward, we need to ask if they were drinking raw water.

https://www.cdc.gov/bird-flu/situation-summary/mammals.html

The wide geographic spread of HPAI A(H5N1) viruses in wild birds, poultry, and some other mammals, including in cows, could create additional opportunities for people to be exposed to these viruses. Therefore, there could be an increase in sporadic human infections resulting from bird and animal exposures, even if the risk of these viruses spreading from birds to people has not increased. CDC believes the current risk to the general public from bird flu viruses is low. People who have job-related or recreational exposure to infected birds or animals, including cows, are at greater risk of contracting HPAI A(H5N1) virus. CDC has recommendations related to testing, treatment of HPAI A(H5N1) infection and prevention of exposure to these viruses: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Virus in Animals: Interim Recommendations for Prevention, Monitoring, and Public Health Investigations.

Don’t worry, it’s not like Musk will weaponize Twitter and make sure tens of millions of Americans don’t participate in future pandemics.

You make that sound like a bad thing when the Venn Diagram looks like a good thing.

Indeed. The whole nature of pandemic participation is that it is involuntary. Nobody volunteers to participate in a pandemic.

Yep. Somewhere back in the First Crusade I was catching a ride with a friend. Car was full of his fencing equipment. His chosen placement for all his fencing foils was in the back seat, on top of our bags, pointed forward with the tips about level with the backs of our skulls.

I was like, "Man? Maybe we could at least turn these sideways?"

Him: "Why?"

"What if we wreck into somebody? These things'll be like spears."

"Well I'm not planning on having a wreck."

Which relieved my worries no end. But I wasn't riding anywhere with steel spikes pointed at my brain, so with much put-upon huffing, dude disassembled his death-trap. And we didn't have a wreck, totally proving me to be a wet blanket.

Welp. Mrs. Canecutter tested pos for Covid. I'll be next. This is like time 2 or 3 on the old original 3 shots. Wasn't planning on doing anything social before February anyway.

They have taken the bridge and the Second Hall. We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes...drums, drums in the deep. We cannot get out. The shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming.

Oh, I’m asking older relatives who post this stuff on FB to make sure their wills are updated and to please write me into them.

But why? Just take ivermectin.

Visited several relatives across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and North Texas last month and saw Ivermectin in multiple houses. Apparently it does more than cure COVID.

Shit was being used like opioids in Appalachia.  And Merck/big pharma is getting their cut from these people.

Does any big pharma even give any manufacturing time and space for ivermectin?  Seems like a drug that generics companies grab onto and wring profit out of.

It was a variety of boxes (and some had horses on them) - tablets, a paste or a cream, etc.  Some looked like packaging you would get from a pharmacy, others from something like Tractor Supply.  They all had "Ivermectin" on them, so it wasn't generic wording, but yeah, felt like rural doctors were prescribing the shit out of it.

Just really weird/stood out.  Saw one big box on a kitchen counter, but the others were in bathrooms/medicine cabinets.  None of these people were sick, but they kept this stuff around (and most of them seemed to have prescriptions).

https://apnews.com/article/bird-flu-death-louisiana-82e4d00876e62cb2b13bb621826c84f9

NEW YORK (AP) — The first U.S. bird flu death has been reported — a person in Louisiana who had been hospitalized with severe respiratory symptoms.

State health officials announced the death on Monday, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed it was the nation’s first due to bird flu.

Health officials have said the person was older than 65, had underlying medical problems and had been in contact with sick and dead birds in a backyard flock. They also said a genetic analysis had suggested the bird flu virus had mutated inside the patient, which could have led to the more severe illness.
