Yep, if Vic played a different style to her liking she would be here.. I think Vic adapts to what his personnel is. Strength of this team is the interior so he rolls with that. Excited to see how far this team goes, and we will be fine regardless in recruiting.

Not a surprise. Not sure who made the final decision, though. Dad seems to be the definition of helicopter parent. Whatever. Can’t see how the other players will like an 18 year old calling the shots.

Sports Illustrated predicted she’d be coming to Texas yesterday….guess they really didn’t have a clue….now, which parent(s) moves to Norman?

Now, she’s got the whole state of Texas against her!

Did Love contribute to her NIL?

Hate to say it, but I suspect OU will be a legit threat. They're already around Top 15 level, not way below us in a general sense. With the way the game is ramping up in terms of scoring and pace, even without Chavez they're no pushover. I certainly doubt they'll beat UConn, but if they do I give them more than a puncher's chance against the KSU-USC winner. Already looking forward to the battles between Chavez and  Preston/Harmon.

Assuming she is the next Caitlyn Clark, OU is a lock for a couple of final fours over the next 3-4 years. OU talent is ahead of Iowa’s before Clark came in.

She chose OU because of money and also she’ll have a better shot at breaking some offensive records with their fast pace offense

Hearing she had demanded $1.5M…not sure if true…

Michael Jordan got involved and facetimed how he wanted her to represent his brand.. think Nakos tweeted that it's expected that she signs a long term deal with Jordan

She was getting paid regardless, if it wasn't Jordan, it was Nike.. it's the reason why Tech was on the outside looking in due to their relationship with Adidas.

Wonder how Nike feels since they were the ones who put an investment into her AAU and gym training?

I’m not a big girls high school follower but tap the breaks on ou going to final fours all of a sudden - I could be wrong but it seems ou won’t have enough defense to make final fours and if they did won’t win without somewhat of a defense - if I’m wrong, it’s women’s bball. University of Texas will be fine as most blue bloods will be I’m sure.

It feels like they are going to try and Clark their way to FFs and NCs and I don’t see that happening

Nah. They're a good but not great team. She'll be good for an extra 3-4 games, but she's not willing that team to the FF. This isn't HS. We have 5* players all over the place, and we landed the #4 player in Aaliyah Crump.

I know people are mad or whatever, but like I said im the above quote - this isn't HS. I'm sure she'll be good, but OU as a whole doesn't have a ton of great players, hence why they're a 3 seed with 7 losses. Vic loads up yearly, so I'm not really concerned with her at this point. Quinn was the highest rated QB in the modern era, and he did ok, but not what was expected of him. Who knows how she'll fare? CBB is much more faster paced, and she'll have to go through us, USCE, LSU, Ole Miss, etc.

She can't be a one person threat and will her team. She needs the right pieces around her, and even then they're not great plauers. They're good, but not great. They're not a threat to us, even with her.

And lastly, good luck to her. She made her choice, so enjoy Oklahoma and their visitor center of trailer parks in Norman and OKC. I'm sure she won't be out of place coming from West Texas.

Trey Young was quite involved too. KD needs to care more

Or Vic just needs to open up his offense and get some shooters, even if it’s a few, which I do think he tried to do but we’re gonna need more than just one.

The game is changing and what makes most coaches good is they adapt. Not “it’s my way or the highway “

I think Vic is smart enough to know that and will adapt specially losing Chavez , I think this may open his eyes

I was just making the observation that OU has more talent than Iowa, and Clark took Iowa to 2 championship games. IF Chavez is on Clark’s level, then I don’t see why OU wouldn’t also make a couple of final 4s.

Let’s also tap the breaks on calling our women’s basketball a blue blood. We have exactly 1 national championship in program history. I know that we act like we have a trophy case full of them because Joni Conradt has been deified as a title 9 hero on the 40 acres , but that didn’t come with a slew of titles

Ew.

Exactly my thought. Almost any other school would have been more palatable. She goes from the "missing piece" for Texas to get over the hump and now she lands at fucking OU and we must play her at least twice a season.

Oh well, even if she's the next Caitlin Clark, let's roll the ball out there and lock her ass down. Thankfully, we're a defensively-oriented team and can find offensive pieces and shooters elsewhere.

I believe you are right…..for softball, gymnastics and basketball…..but, there are no guarantees….would that explain the Love donations?

Yeah he was.. but saying KD needs to do the same thing is a stretch.  Him just being around the program and checking out games from time to time is enough.

Don't think KD would have changed this recruitment because ou really did have a lot in it's favor on the court. KD brand isn't MJ.. and MJ put his money where his mouth was and got her to not only sign with ou but to his brand as well.

Sucks but we will be fine, I hope she does do well because she's the face of latinas playing basketball.. i have a daughter that plays in the AAU circuit.. Need Chavez to do her thing so we can break the stereotype that our girls can't ball.

But I need her to have her worst games in her losses to us every time we meet on the court #HookEm

Chavez is quick on the ball, so If Rory comes back, I don’t think she’ll be able to prevent Chavez from getting good looks. I have more faith in Preston getting under Chavez’s skin on perimeter defense.  Preston has the speed and quick twitch needed to contain someone like Chavez

Or just put her one on one against Oldacre, she will eat Chavez up on the perimeter and in the paint!!!

Chavez at OU and I still feel like Texas has the advantage and better team.  Doesn't mean she won't beat us, just don't think she can do it consistently.  Had she come to Texas I would say that OU would not have a chance in the series until she left.

lol. Oldacre is the 2nd line of defense. If she blows by Preston, Oldacre will be waiting for her in the paint

lol yeah man i was just teasing..love Oldacre, just hope the refs readjust their whistles.. poor woman gets so many bad calls on her during gameday just because of her size.  It's like we are reliving the prime Shaq years in the NBA

So, she doesn’t care if her team wins, as long as she’s playing fast?   Got it.

Well that and she is getting paid the entirety of OU's women's basketball NIL fund

How about this: ou already has a high powered offense. How much hotter can Chavez make it?  They play little defense. Will she be interested in helping in that area at all?  How much of an impact will she have on that program that already loses before the EE/FF weekend.

I think she’d have had a larger impact at Texas.

Vic isn't stubborn, he knows the game is moving in a different direction. He missed out in Chavez, but we have a *tean* that plays together with mostly 5 stars. He'll adapt. He's the reason we made the elite eight in year one. He's a brilliant guy.

I would rap the breaks on ou has more talent than Iowa. Clark isn't the sole reason the made it to the FF and NC game. She had players around her who knew their job. I'm not sure Baranczyk has that luxury.

God I can't wait until we get a gymnastics team. That burnt orange on those smoke shows will attract itself. CDC has made it known he will go get the best and I hope it's the LSU coach.

OU isn't beating us even with Chavez. Vic has a well oiled machine, and we're lightyears ahead of their program. The only teams that CAN beat us are other power programs that we've also beaten. Ou isn't and will not be in that discussion.
