Game Week 13: Kentucky at Texas

The Kentucky offense is shittastic. The offensive line is mediocre and the QB is a little league version of Carson Beck.

Deone Walker leads a pretty good defensive front and Texas is going to have to account for him and two pretty good LBs. Their DBs aren’t anything of concern.

How do you get up, as a player, for a coach that tried to quit on you in the middle of the night? This team has beaten Southern Miss, Ohio, Ole Miss (lol), and Murray State. Now they have to come on the road against an unfamiliar opponent, get excited and win with far inferior talent across the board? Right.

Barion Brown didn’t play against Murray State, so I’m curious how seriously he’s injured. If he can’t go, they have Key at WR and Wilcox at TB as playmakers, which is not saying much.

I expect Texas to win in a yawner, 31-3.

You and I are watching the same team in orange and the same one in blue.
if I wanted to be mean to Kentucky (why bother?) I’d have spent some time talking about the shame of getting cucked by aggy I suppose.

I will say this - Kentucky is a weird team.

I watched them quit against South Carolina while clicking back and forth between them and the NI/Notre Dame game. South Carolina dismantled the UK OL and DL as though it was child’s play.

Then they come back the next week and should have beaten Georgia.

They follow that up by pummeling Ohio and going on the road and whipping Ole Miss.

“Man, maybe Kentucky is better than I thought?”

Then 4 straight losses including another game in which they straight up quit at Florida. Then they played Tennessee tough.

Their Saturday Beta is pretty fucking high.

I’ll be at the game.  First time in a long time.  Bringing my 13 year old daughter and friends with some other dads.  Can’t wait for us to destroy Kentucky.  This game won’t be close.  I don’t see how they score unless we turnover the ball in the red zone.

Quinn, need you to play at a higher level.  He can be so much better than what he showed yesterday.

How Quinn plays will be highly dependent on how UK schemes their pass defense.

But UK can't win this game. Only Texas can beat themselves with more penalties, turnovers and busted coverages than the Vandy game.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think we’re the kind of team who can afford to look over a Kentucky. They’ve competed well against comparable QBs and defensive fronts. We didn’t exactly light up the worst secondary in the P5 yesterday.

Now go look at the other side of the ball.

They looked good against Ole Miss.  I watched most of that game.  They were able to run the ball pretty well that day without looking up stats.  Dart also wasn't very sharp which helped them.  They are very jekyl and hyde as CTJ mentioned.  I wouldn't be surprised by a blowout or a close game.

UK/OM has been a weird series recently, believe all the games have been 1 score games. Perhaps the Rebs overlooked them and paid a price?

Ole Miss is jekyll and hyde team too. You don't know what you're getting each week.

They dominated Georgia and South Carolina but lost to bad teams in LSU and Kentucky.

Do you think it was them quitting or they just don’t have the athletes to stay in the game on D forever?

They lost to Georgia by 1 in a low scoring game. Vandy was a 1 TD loss in a low scoring game. Auburn didn’t take the lead until halfway through the third. Tenn was down at the half and UK was in that game until late.

I think our D holds them. But I think they’ve got a good enough D to hang with most for 2-3 quarters. To me this looks like a low scoring game everyone gets panicked about and then we pull away in the 4th

My first DVR’d (is that a word?) game for the Longhorns, either present or on tv, as my Niece gets married at 3:00. D/T Austin at St. Mary’s. Wife won’t let me swing by LH Blvd. for pregame festivities.

Reception is half way to Dripping Springs, so my phone will let me watch the Army vs Notre Dame game.

We need a solid closeout game for the Seniors. From where they started in the program to today is an awesome change for them and the Longhorn program.

Hook’em!!!

I guess you didn’t watch the SCar game, based on this post. They fucking quit in that game, on both sides of the ball, and were arguing amongst themselves on the sidelines.

UK fan here. UK has one decent player on offense (WR Dane Key) and the other starters are bad. UK's defense was solid for the first half of the year but with injuries and the incompetence of the offense I think they quit at the Florida game. UK's best DL Deone Walker sat out yesterday's game and I wouldn't be surprised if he sits out the final 2 games because why risk your draft status for a crap team that's going nowhere and a coach that quit before the season started. Texas winning 70-0 would help us get Stoops overpaid whiny fat ass out of here.

I think Deone should definitely sit out for the game. Don’t risk it DW! Protect your future!

I see this game week thread also has the smell of bitch in it.

Kentucky is horrendous on offense, a far cry from Arkansas even. With DKR advantage, I see a 38-10, 42-13 type game.

my hope is a repeat of the Tech game from last year, where we demonstrated dominance in every facet of the game.

For a conference with a lot of talk about “it just means more” I don’t have the slightest bit of respect for “the meat grinder”.

We literally got to face 6 of the 7 worst teams in the conference.... This is not a meat grinder year not even close.

It's never going to be set up where one team plays the 4 or 5 other best teams in the conference.  Texas will never play Alabama, Georgia, Tenn and LSU/UF in the same year.  The SEC doesn't want to eliminate one of it's good teams from the playoff because of a tough schedule.

…and 2 of the top 5.  It was set up to be easy relative to say Georgia’s schedule, but you can’t necessarily predict how far from their 10 year average any particular team will land in a given year.

10 years is a pretty long look back though, allowing for anomalies like Texas.  Maybe 5 would have been more appropriate to glean an idea of where teams would be this year and next, for this one-off 2 year schedule.

You “get concerned” when the wind blows the wrong way or when you spot a cloud that looks like the wrong kind of animal. Take the tinfoil hat off for a bit and get a grip. You wrote similar shit before the Michigan game.

Can’t see UK scoring 10+ pts. UK does have a defense that could slow down Texas, but hard to know how much fight they have left in them. I can’t see Texas losing. Only question is will the offense sleep walk to a 24- 6 type win or blow them out? Another game where the 1Q could decide the ease of the win. Get up early and it will look like Florida.
