If we're doing all of the extremes, I know Wyoming is the highest altitude stadium Texas has played in, not sure about the lowest.

I would assume that would be Lubbock. Is there a lower place than the seventh circle of hell?

Had to dig a little bit for older pictures because the newer ones are... not great. Plastic surgery is a hell of a drug

Barron did the same last year before returning. I’m sure the thought is just participate so you can have the experience and we will have more in-depth conversations after the season.

Taaaaaffffeee is allegedly viewed as a middle round guy. He’s had a great season. I’d love to see his measurables at the combine.

He’s been paid better than a practice squad guy this year. If he doesn’t have a grade above 7th, something could be done.

OOC Home and Home I would like to see/travel to: (granted some of these would need to be 2:1)

Oregon

Washington

Whisky

Army

AirForce

App State

Great list. Hell, Navy's a great spot too and Annapolis is wonderful. USC would be a fun blueblood battle.

We're going to be sick of Deep Southern road trips, but I've always wanted to see a game at Bobby Dodd with its history and the huge skyline view.

UNC, UCLA, and UVA are lovely places and very complementary fanbases, but I'd have them lower on the wishlist.

2002.  I remember being in awe at the Superdome because they served alcohol.  Dudes in the row behind us bought a case of beer from a vendor and started passing them out to everyone around them.  Good times.  Tulane kicked off one time, which tells the story of the game.  Simms, Benson, Selvin Young had decent days.

Same , I was there.  We kicked the dog out of them.

I had no idea Texas played at Hawaii. That's awesome.

BC and UDub would both be fun away games, though lower tier P5s like BC are a no-win proposition to play.

Back then you had to read the magazines to get news on recruits.  I remember Mackovic securing Ricky's committment and the subsequent write up in Athlons gave us all hope.  I used to go to Barnes and Noble on my lunch break and read the magazines front to back for any mention of Texas recruits.  Back then FSU, MIami, Notre Dame got all the good Texas kids.

Dallas morning news would also do lists, 1 for National, 1 for "regional" or conference and 1 for State only.  We always had 1 or 2 on the national list....Lovell Pinkney was a big WR out of DC we were also super hopeful about and of course Ricky.

That won't change any of the extreme points for Texas. Miami is west of Boston and north of Hawaii.

We've played the Orange Bowl, for the record.

Yeah Im just saying Miami is awesome for a few day trip. Plus Miami is kinda the inverse of the mid major trap game. They suck so its not a super difficult game but they're still a big name and a W over Miami looks better to casuals than a W over Iowa S tate

Stabbing Westward was my favorite band back in the day. Was walking back to campus after a concert and a car full of what seemed like fans asked if I needed a ride. Not worrying about my kidneys being harvested, I jumped in and the lead singer of Stabbing Westward was sitting next to me. This was the only thread I'd ever be able to share that story, so hope you enjoyed it.

FYI - if you, @utee94, and @BurntEyes want to go on a trip down nostalgia lane you can see Stabbing Westward play.

I'd go to an away game against Miami, but I'd do so skeptically. I've been to Miami like 6-7 times, all on business. We made it a point to go out and do shit and I still didn't enjoy it. And I am an easy traveler. I want to have a good time. But everybody always talks it up, so, sure, I can root for that and another shot at enjoying it.

Lots of good suggestions for roadies on here. I say throw Northwestern into the mix. Add Pitt. Let's get creative, CDC.

Pittsburgh is a very underrated city, particularly in the summer.

Stayed in Pitt (have been there number of other times as well) when Texas played W Virginia for first time. It is a great place to visit with good bars/restaurants for a fun weekend. If you can squeeze a Pirates game in as well that is icing on cake.

Pretty walkable downtown/waterfront and would be fun to play there.

I remember that year Ricky was ranked something like 80 on the DMN national 100 list while Sirr Parker, also out of California, was 30ish.  An aggy in the apartment next to me couldn't contain his glee that they got the #1 RB out of Cali while we had to settle for the second best.

I don’t know maps so excuse my dumbassery but I looked at Kentucky as part of the south. Was in Cincinnati and the airport there is in Kentucky. Cincinnati is anything but the south to me. So to be next to Kentucky I was mind blown lol

SIAP, but do we have a football game tomorrow, possibly against a team from the state of Kentucky?

Yes. That's why we're talking about Cincinnati and Sirr Parker and Harvard and Lubbock and jet fuel prices.

Ya dumbass.

And I would have to say, Louisville is more like Indianapolis than Nashville.

Everyone was so excited to have our lower-tier conference games not be jihad games. This is how exciting the result is.

Wow.  I've written almost the exact same thing about The DMN Top 100 lists.  I still recall getting three "Top 50" recruits from Deer Park one year.  I thought the defense would be fire. How could a guy named Jake Hammer not be good?

It's a fine city until you take just one wrong turn.

There are plenty of negative things to say about Chicago, but food choices ain't one of them, neither are cultural options (museum and such you Surly assholes). Most of the negatives typically attributed to Chicago certainly don't apply to Evanston aside from shitty traffic and weather.

Pittsburgh is a truly underrated city.

Miami has some amazing scenery that I can't even really afford to look at much less "entertain" and some great food. There ends the positives, imo.

To be fair, that's like 80% of American cities.

Oh no. No no no. See, all of those other cities you mention have this concept called "two way streets." You know, a street with at least two lanes, at least one going the opposite direction of the other one?

Pittsburgh hasn't yet adopted this novel concept.

And in any other city, if you happen to make a wrong turn... well, you just make a few right turns again and you're back where you started, no big deal, right?

No no no, not in Pittsburgh. See this road here goes all the way around the mountain or through the valley. You're going the LONG way around, now, buddy. You may even have to leave the city before you can turn around and get back to where you were supposed to be. In short, you are doomed. You aren't going to make that appointment; better reschedule. Maybe if you're lucky, another errand you needed to run (where you missed the turn last week), you can make it there from this road, now!

Unlikely tho

Oh! Hah, I thought you just meant it had some downtown-adjacent sketchy neighborhoods. This makes more sense.

Hahaha yeah i figured. But see that's "you're fucked if you make one of several specific wrong turns" because you MIGHT end up in a bad neighborhood.

In Pittsburgh, it's "you're fucked if you make ANY wrong turns" because Pittsburgh is a Civil Engineer's worst nightmare. (Or his "most reliable paycheck." It really comes down to attitude.)
