The Longevity Thread...

I think they will also find movement that requires more focus and concentration (i.e. ball sports) is even more important (it helps against cognitive decline). That plus strength training = winning.

Pretty good short article about the factors that affect longevity.  They did a long-term study of people between 50 and 80, tracked all of their habits and noted who died at what age.  Their conclusion is that the overwhelming best predictor of your longevity is how much you move each day and how vigorously you move.
Movement is a bigger factor than age, smoking status, diabetes, cancer diagnoses, heart conditions, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, etc…. The guy who moves a lot but smokes typically outlives the sedentary non-smoker. The diabetic who moves a lot typically outlives the sedentary non-diabetic… so on and so forth as compared to all those other factors.

My 86 year old overweight mother disagrees unless rage watching FNC 12 hours a day constitutes moving or exercise.

Not a formal training program but I've increasing my flexibility. I watched a video of how much of the world can sit for an extended time in a deep squat and the related health benefits. Made sense to me. I was initially able to comfortably sit in one for about 20 seconds before the pain started. Now I can pretty much go for 5+ minutes while watching TV.  It really opens up the ankle, knee and hip joints via by stretching muscles. great way to start the day, or while while listening in (non-camera) on a zoom meeting.

If this isn't easy or possible for you, I recommend slowly incorporating stretches to work your way to it. don't push it.

I also try to increase my balance time on one leg at a time. If your balancing is not the best, you can surprisingly feel smaller muscles firing to keep your balance.

I'm enjoying the show, but as others have said, it is way over the top.  I'm not sure about the timeline, but in his first couple of weeks (days?) on the job, Pig Pen sees his fellow workers blown up/incinerated, another guy lose a hand, and he may have been beaten to death by some assholes that can't control their testosterone.  And the lady lawyer was something else.  Her slander threat was laughable . . . and it worked!

Wrong thread.  Sorry.

there is evidence psychedelics increase neuroplasticity and therefore longevity.
