I ducked out in the middle of a funeral today to 1. avoid the rosary, and 2. to go grab a dozen tamales and sonic drink. Both places are within 5 mins of the funeral home.

Came back, waited for them to wrap up then attended the graveside services.

damn those tamales are good. I was 2.5 hrs from home and this was my chance to buy some great tamales. place closes at 2. i got there 1:30

someone's dead and you slip out for tamales?  you're a real piece of work, you know that?  un-fucking-believable.

In my honest opinion, you don’t really seem to have cared about attending to actually pay your respects, but rather out of a sense of obligation, or just to make sure that you were seen to have been there.  In either case, it would probably have been more honest to just not have gone at all.

I am craving some tamales now though.

i try to attend all services / funerals. Don’t always stay for the full services.

Follow up question in order to determine this:

a) Did the decedent love tamales? If so, you were simply paying respects the way he/she would have appreciated.

b) If they did not, did you at least bring some tamales back to give out to the bereaved family? "I'm so sorry for your loss. Would you like bean and cheese, chicken or pork?"

Anyone who posts on Surly IS an asshole, full stop, Moose out front and all.

The fact that this was NOT the first reply truly convinces me that the whole world has gone to hell, and a meteor is what we deserve.

Perhaps you missed the part where he said the tamales were really good.
