ROFL BOX could use your prayers

Recommended Posts

I’d been wondering about the guy since we hadn’t heard from him since the accident thread got scrubbed. Hoping for the best for him and his family.

I’m a heathen so any sort of actual prayer from me runs the risk of doing more harm than good.

He did me a solid once, and I always considered him to be good folks, so my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

He has handled a couple of small roof repairs for me, with professionalism and at a ridiculously low cost.

Hang tough ROFL BOX !      Thoughts and Prayers !

Can't lose another after YGIFS.    Know him just from posts,  but similar situation as YGIFS.   Family really depends on him,  especially his Mother.

I really can't disclose anymore than that.  Maybe someone here is a friend of his family's and can reach out to get and disclose more details, if the family is okay with it.  It just can't be me. And don't DM me. I won't disclose any details there either.  All I can say is that he is not in great health atm and if the power of prayer works to bring healing and strength, he really could use it right now.  I'm sure he would appreciate the support of what he calls the "Shag Squared" community.  Please pray for him to bounce back.  🙏

In separate and wholly unrelated matters, if you're ever in some kind of car wreck or other accident, resist the urge to get on here and start posting pictures and telling everyone you're okay.  You really don't know yet.  Maybe you're right.  You probably are, but sometimes it takes a bit to figure out.  Take your time. Certainly talk to your doctors.  Make medical care a top priority.  Don't "tough it out."  You may think you're just fine, but days later you might find yourself on death's doorstep.  Talk to a lawyer that's actually qualified in personal injury and follow their advice too.  Posting about your accident on social media can wait until much later.

Hope he pulls through and protects himself and his family legally if that's going to be part of the ordeal.

Going off memory, stalled/abandoned dump truck left in the middle of a dirt road which couldn't easily be seen at night. I don't know the legal opinions.

Get well soon ROFLBOX.

I don't know him personally, but he runs in some of the same circles as me.  There is a go fund me that was set up recently.  I don't want to post personal stuff on here so if immamac gives the ok I can post a link.

Got a call from Roflbox this morning.  He's lucid and aware of what's going on.  Sounds strong but of course unsure of what the immediate future holds.  Wanted me to pass along that he saw the game yesterday and has limited ability to surf the web between treatments but is down his right thumb.  Keep praying.

So is he still going to be able to hitchhike?

Good thing he's not an aggie.

Yeah, his arm looks pretty messed up on the pic that he sent me. Tons of confusion overall. But he seems in good spirits.

Can't answer that but it was probably caused by shrapnel from the air bag deployment. That was a reason for numerous vehicle recalls.

Glad to hear ROFL BOX has a gofundme. I've gotten permission to post the link: Link  He will need this. His situation is very serious.

I still can't share specific info about ROFL BOX.

But again, in separate and wholly unrelated matters, airbag deployment can send shrapnel into your body.  Obviously that can be deadly due to trauma.  Alternatively, it can also cause deep, small wounds which develop infection that turn septic.  Sepsis can impair a person neurologically, require amputations....and cause death.   Also, if you're driving anything older than 15 years and your vehicle is subject to this risk, you're operating at your own risk.  Manufacturers in TX are protected by a "statute of repose" which requires you to bring suit against them for defects within 15 years of the date the product is sold.  So if you're driving around in anything older than 15 years and it has a defect that eventually hurts or kills you, you won't be able to go after the manufacturer.  You can still put it on the driver who caused the wreck that triggered the airbag deployment, but then you better hope they have insurance, and lots of it, or that you have underinsured motorists insurance coverage to make up the difference if they don't.

I just saw him and I’m able to give a little bit of an update. He has really turned a corner since the last couple times I’ve seen him. He was completely, cognitively incapacitated when I last saw him. Today, we had an actual conversation. That was really great because previously, I was honestly not sure if he was going to live or die. It seems pretty clear now that he is going to survive this, but he still has a very long road ahead. While we are all enjoying the holidays with our families, he will still be in a hospital bed suffering.

Thanks for the update.  Godspeed ROFL.
