and aggy is a 76% chance if they win out, yet they would be the SEC champion and get an auto-bid. That website sucks.

By "win out" it's just talking about the regular season. I think most of that 76 percent chance would be attributed to winning the conference, because if they lost the CCG and went to 9-4 I doubt they have a 76 percent chance to get in.

We get in at 10-2 over them at 9-4. Because the playoffs take into account the full season and not just conference games. This is where scheduling a tough opponent week 1 and losing can come back to hurt you.

Especially with all the boys, dudes, and fellas in the crowd getting frothy and riled up, slinging whooping catcalls at at their favorite boy cheerleaders gyrating on the sidelines

I may have to pause the game by several minutes to skip forward on the aggie crowd and corps shots.

Is this the fucking game week thread or the aggy shits themselves against auburn thread?

This is the thread where Rage vents his misanthropic/chicken little inner demons,  instead of enjoying the most aggy moment of the entire season we are going to entertain  (Ewers out for year/aggy blowout/arch awful/monkeypox runs through lockerroom/sark arrested and revealed as the Zodiac Killer)

Lots of threads to talk about playoffs and SEC champ scenarios but this is Surly so someone has to offer the shit takes I guess.

If I’m reading the tiebreakers correctly, after Bama lost, all Aggy had to do was beat a lowly 1-5 Auburn and they would have clinched a spot in their very first SECCG last night (believe they would have been ahead of UGA and Tenn at 6-2). What a moment that would’ve been for them!

Never go full Aggy.

How would you leave them out if their 3rd loss is to Texas in the SEC champ game? The assumption the committee would be working with is that any other team wouldve also lost to us. No way they penalize them for that.

Agreed. But they better beat tech or us.

No they wouldn’t have.

they still would have needed LSU and Tenn to win next week

This seems like win/win for us.  If we lose, we don’t have to fuck with the SEC champ game and go straight to the playoffs.  If we win, we get to drag our nuts over aggy faces and get revenge on GA…..and then go to the playoffs.

aggy receiving absolution from all of the chaos is a fair trade for the doublewin of losing and getting a bye week before a playoff game, home or away don't care we're awesome on the road then it goes neutral sites; win next week and get a shot at our own absolution against uga on their turf, win in atlanta, get a bye, lose slot 5/6/7/8 and host round 1

the only way we fall 9/10/11/12 is if aggy beats us and somehow beats uga then aggy will be the lowest-ranked p4 champion (3 losses) and both aggy and uga will slot 5/6/7/8 and we join tennessee 9/10/11/12

Guaranteed? No.

But, it's happening. We are in the Playoff.

the only way it doesn't happen is if:

- a team with 2 losses has an opponent that forfeits one of those wins for some reason before the selection show in 2 weeks

- aggy beats us 100-0 and the committee moves us out of the top 12 OR we beat aggy and then uga beats us 100-0 and the committee moves us out of the top 12

- asteroid

Yes, we should get in, but it ain't fucking guaranteed, like I said

You should change your name to fear-a-holic given your performance over the last week, cowering at the thought of Kyle Field and now trembling about Texas's CFP chances.

You're the one that's making idiotic arguments. How does "controlling your own destiny" impact the line? No shit, they can still make the SEC championship game. That means nothing in the context of who the better team is and recent data points of aggy struggling with a 4-6 Auburn team.

last night they depleted their life force in a futile attempt to eke out a result over 4-6 barn

beating us is absolutely possible but after last night they will have to summon the ghosts of sul ross, e.king gill and the bonfire 12, and then deplete every last ounce of semen in their entire ecosystem, to get the result over us

they will go to atlanta and uga will carve them alive, viking blood eagle

Also, aggy has almost zero shot of making the playoffs unless they beat us and Georgia.

This has it at 1% if they lose another game. https://www.playoffstatus.com/ncaafootball/ncaafootballtournpartprob.html

comedy value

it was updated at 3am

it still shows aggy with only 76% even if they win out, which is actually 100% they're in

The nightmare scenario is Sark starts a hurt Ewers next week, who fumbles and throws multiple INTs. He's then forced to put in Arch, who plays like shit and aggy wins.  So Texas has a hurt QB1 and unreliable QB2....and then the playoff committee treats us like Florida State last year.

we have multiple wins this year with Arch starting.  This isn't the same scenario at all.  It also doesn't hurt he's not a true freshman and his name is Manning.

We are in because of our D and that we play in the SEC, not the big 12 or ACC.

watching the replay of aggy misery.  that OPI call was a fucking rig job attempt.  flag came from side judge on aggy sideline.  you know someone on the sideline yelled "that's a pick" in that refs ear and he threw the flag from 30 yards away.

unfuckingbelievable how much they were trying to rig that thing for aggy.

Yep, he called OPI that didn't happen when the receiver got near a defender on the other half of the field. That's exactly what I meant when I called it one of the worst calls I've ever seen. I think lots of officiating mistakes are just incompetence, but that's one of the ones that makes you wonder about corruption.

I really hate how much the sidelines can manipulate the ref into throwing a flag

Can't help but wonder if aggy had not called that time out, which in my opinion hugely benefited Auburn, whether or not Auburn would've been able to pull it off for next play and clock stop and kick the FG. Lot could've gone wrong for Auburn, they had no timeouts and needed one badly and A&M gifted it to them....

So I watched a couple of the aggie postgame shows - because I enjoy that kind of thing - and it's crazy that after a collective hour of analysis, not a single aggie pundit/writer/former player said, "We're just not very good."

They all wrestle with losing to Auburn like it's the Goldbach Conjecture... "I just don't understand!"  "This team is a TOTAL MYSTERY!"

No one:  "We're not very good.  We only beat Bowling Green by 6.  Our big home wins were against wildly overrated teams.  Our big road wins were against a decimated Florida and 0-7 Mississippi State."

Instead, they're just SHOCKED to lose to Auburn, as if Vegas (and everyone who watches college football outside of College Station) didn't have this game correctly identified as a pick-em proposition.

I will grant you that UT *also* had a relatively easy conference schedule.  But the difference is that our defense shows up every single week, and even when our offense plays poorly, we beat these mediocre teams by multiple scores.

Yea in 11 games Texas has given up more than 17 points exactly twice.  One in a turnover/shitty punt fest and the other very late in a road game.   Yea our schedule has turned out not to be the toughest but you can only play what the conference lines up for you and the defense has yet to dick around in those games (even the two times they did give up more than 17 it was much more on offensive ineptitude). If you play poor to average teams and lock them down to zero to two scores over 60 minutes week in and week out....you're pretty fucking solid.

furthermore we are totally open and honest with ourselves about our strengths, our problems, our resume and our program

we are the opposite

we don't have a pat harmon writing fanfic power rankings to feed the worms eating aggy brains

The crazy part is there was a clear holding or DPI on the play before.

B2B horrible calls.

I still don't understand this call, and if I were an aggy fan (which by the grace of God, I am not) I would be howling mad. I think that timeout cost aggy the game.

I would conservatively estimate that there are 100 posts on texags taking pride that Auburn stormed the field after beating them.
