He's a very good QB, and I like seeing an athletic QB wearing #10.

I want him healthy but plenty bruised and full of himself for next week.  I say he passes for 2 or 3  TDs tonight as Aggy plays a very close game, all 60 minutes, maybe even OT.

I got my wish, on both counts.  He's gonna hear how great he is all week, and believe it!  He also ran the ball over 20 times, which means probably means nothing.

Meh, get back to me when you go an a goalpost tour like Texas did in 1997.

I believe Texas has some incentives too. Didn't Texas also use the NIL and the portal to become an elite team? They also joined the SEC to play "big boy" football and of course for the money. The Big 12 is a crappy conference that is now behind even the ACC. Time to stop the handwringing over playing anybody at any place and just go out and win, this should be the new standard.

It’s such a gift to have that gene hard-wired into aggy DNA.

this would have been the first 10 callers on the post-game bitch fest

no wonder they skipped it

Something I've realized is people really don't understand how meh of a resume teams have when you get down to like the 11th or 12th best teams in the country. @rage-a-holicis a prime example.

This is why a lot of people were against expanding the playoffs.

it's the loss of regional 10-team conferences

there used to be a dozen 1-loss teams heading in to rivalry weekend and 4 or 5 undefeateds

The most Auburn had scored in an SEC game before yesterday was 21 against OU.

12 of their points were in OT but yeah giving up 31 in regulation to them was bad.

Now remind me... how many points did Alabama score on OU yesterday?

That’s not the biggest reason why

it’s because seasons used to only be 11 games long

Assuming we beat aggy this week, I hope someone has this graphic ready to go for liberal social media posting.

At 5-6 this year and 110-77 since 2010 (.588, if my math is correct), not very often.  Athough beating #5 Alabama a few years back (2019) in the Iron Bowl was pretty cool.

8 teams with the P5(of which 5 would be conf champs) and no G5 requirement was the answer 25 years ago but the bowls and college presidents wouldn't let go.  If you limited conferences to 12 there would have been enough crossover but SEC blew that up.

now here we are.  If we are giving champs and likely ND auto bid.  I think it should be 4 champs 1 G5 and rank them 1-12 by a computerized metric but ESPN doesn't want that.

I thought it was Mizzou pulling up their skirts flirting with the Big Ten to become their 12th member which then caused Nebraska to get jealous and jump the shark.  Once Nebraska was out A&M, Mizzou, & Colorado all indicated their desires to jump ship and the destruction was on.  Yes the SEC predatorily took Mizzou & A&M in the wake but I don't think they were the culprits starting the > 12 conference member run that was a combination of Mizzou fancying the Big Ten and Nebraska's seething hatred of all things Texas.

fair enough.  I do have a blind spot when it comes to the Mizzou fuckery starting some of the dominoes.

mizzou has coveted a b1g invite since pedder got in - they were convinced they were next for the first half of the 90s

I wonder how things would have changed if the b10 did take Mizzou. Who goes with aggy?  Does b10 eventually take unl or are they stuck in the b12 still?

if only there was a thread…

They have wandered the fucking desert to an insane level.

To think in 1996 Roll Left basically kept them from being the only team in NCAA history to win 4 straight titles

1998 snapped their 47 game home winning streak

2002 book ended another home winning streak

2007 JC goes off for 200+ yards in the 4th quarter alone

2009 Jerryworld almost catastrophe

2010 Squints runs wild for a top 5 road win and NU has never been back in the top 5.

Post Mortem:
Only finished the year ranked 2010-12 been UR in the final poll every year since.
7 years of failing to be ranked in a single week in the polls
Finally after going to an NCAA record 35 consecutive bowl games from 1969-2003 they are finally bowl eligible this year for the first time in 8 years.

Wild the epic collapse choking off your recruting base (TX) and rivalries (CU & OU) will do.

2006 was also pretty nuts.  They had a first down at the end of the game where if the runner just goes down, they can run out the clock.  Instead, Aaron Ross pops him and the ball comes loose.  We pick it up.  Our starting kicker is hurt.  So walk on comes in and makes the game winner in the snow.  That game was over.

I think all the games were pretty close.  Except for the ass kicking VY gave them in 2003.

The Ryan Bailey Game.

Thats when I realized Nebraska was forever cursed against Texas. No way we should’ve won that game.

Nebraska is a case study in getting swept up in emotions and belief in one's own greatness without ever taking the time to seriously evaluate what core fundamentals were driving that greatness.  Make no mistake they were great.  With how college football has evolved, some of their base was going away regardless, but they went and poured jet fuel on that evolution's smoldering fire.

Had they joined the SEC it would've been a totally different story.

I saw where it was possible that no Big 12 team might make the CFP, even the conference champion, that league is a real mess.
No way in hell that happens even if it should. I would wager the committee is wanting to keep as many fanbases/regions fully engaged in the playoffs as possible.

A lot happened today.
A 3 loss Alabama is not getting in over Texas. A 3 loss Ole Miss is not getting in over Texas. A 2 loss BYU is not getting in over Texas. A 3 loss aggy is not getting in over Texas unless they win the SEC championship. It's unlikely a 1 loss Indiana gets in over a 2 loss Texas but I think that's the only questionable one.
A lot of teams slotted in the playoffs lost today, dude. We are a lock to make the playoffs.
Indiana does not have a QB starring in Dr Pepper ads repeating relentlessly every Saturday.

Do with this info what you will.

They should give a spot to the last place Big 12 team.

Same and agree, it was fucking glorious.

Nebraska, along with K-State and Iowa State, lucked the fuck out they didn't have to play us in 04,05,08, or 09.

Edit: 2009 Big12 championship game being the exception

Yep, he called OPI that didn't happen when the receiver got near a defender on the other half of the field. That's exactly what I meant when I called it one of the worst calls I've ever seen. I think lots of officiating mistakes are just incompetence, but that's one of the ones that makes you wonder about corruption.

As a former referee (TXHS level), I whole heartedly agree.

Flags that should’ve happened vs flags that did happen was a trademark of our tenure in the B12. New slate, but same results?

Big $$$ football will dictate full time referees both NFL and big time college. The camera angle, post play, can’t solve all calls going forward. Get it right, then move on.

All the P4 champions are guaranteed a spot.  They are not guaranteed a top 4 spot, ie they could have to play a first round game if say Boise is ranked higher than the Big 12 champion.

top ranked 4 get a bye.  bigXII champ is in regardless.

I know I'm a little late to the discussion here and someone posted an article a few posts above, but the rule is that top 5 ranked conference champions get an auto bid, top 4 get a bye. There's nothing that stipulates that the top 5 ranked conference champions are 4 P4 + 1 G5.

So if the Big XII champion was ranked lower than the SEC, Big 10, ACC, MWC, and AAC champions, then the Big XII champ would not get an auto bid and could be left out.

That situation could've been in play, but with Tulane's loss to Memphis and Army's loss to Notre Dame, the AAC champion won't finish ahead of the Big XII
