It's cringe as shit but damn if sitting there watching on TV with my die hard Longhorn fan 17 year old son who was 4 the last time these teams played if that wasn't the moment (especially when our players took the field and the LHB fired up dueling Texas Fight) that I finally reconnected with the old feelings of this game.

I, too, thought "man I forgot how weird these yokels truly are, it's been a blessing not to have to deal with them for 13 years" in that moment.

It is our duty to stomp on these yokels even if it is a no win situation. What we do win is the court of public opinion as long as we win 2/3rd of the time which we absolutely should do in an NIL world where they can't run bagman on us.

And given the angles/trajectories involved, targeting on that one would have been bullshit too. It's like they expect these guys to be astrophysics professors doing advanced calculations out there in fractions of a second.

I've heard that anytime it's close on a targeting call the refs will err on the side of caution and throw the flag then let replay sort it out.  Fortunately, replay got it right.  At full speed I didn't think it was close to targeting, but slow mo made it look a little closer than I first thought.

How any young black guy could watch this and still say "Hell yeah, I want in on that" is baffling

I never really paid attention to their stupid fucking song before.  But since the lyrics were on the screen, I guess I never realized how almost the whole fucking song is about us.

Once I saw it was the side of Mukuba’s helmet contact the face mask of the runner, I knew it wasn’t targeting.

Won't be fine against Georgia, but Texas whooping up on the little sisters of the poor by any margin is fine.  I don't care.  They can say whatever, and we can point out Texas won with a bad Ewers.  They can't say nothing--they lost to Case.  They're wannabe's.  They got nothing to show otherwise.  Next year, clicking clack.  Where has this played in succession?  Yeah, for decades. They don't have a living relative that's seen a championship.  Their culture is losing, their trophy room is full of echos and they haven't sniffed an SEC championship, and in a 12 man championship field, won't sniff that either with a shit schedule.  Their culture is gnashing teeth and crying about about refs. I hope they paid Owens well, because he's going to leave their program now or in 3 years with whatever they gave him.  But count that money and pray you don't sustain another injury along the way, while watching Wisner take all the accolades and beat your shit in.

I honestly think, and I’m being completely serious, that what holds back their mentality is the 12th man. I think that helps the mindset that someone else will do “it”, whether that be the tackle, catch, block, etc. It’s a built in excuse. Just like relying on the stadium being so loud. They should quit pointing at that and look inward about their real problems. It doesn’t matter how much money you spend or your facilities if your overall kids aren’t good. Realize that and start making those changes.

Has ABC/ESPN ever shown the lyrics to other schools?    That was a first, right?

Aggies countrywide were probably whooping and hollering with glee and the rest of the viewers were thinking "WTF is this shit?"

Pretty sure they did something similar in the broadcast of the 2011 game for both teams.

They showed little snippets where our fight songs mentioned each other. But I don't recall them showing the lyrics to the whole song or anything.

From the outside you don't want to know the words, from the inside they are too illiterate to know what it says.

I went to an A&M game in College Station back in the 1990s, against Tech, with a 2% student friend of mine. I just wanted to see what it was like. And holy shit I was shocked with how much of it was just about how much Texas sucks. I kind of wish he had prepped me a little because It kind of pissed me off at the time. Knowing what I know about A&M and how they work now I find it funny. I just wasn't prepared for how much, in a game between Texas A&M and Texas Tech, everything would be about how much Texas sucks.

It all begins and ends with culture. Aggy culture emphasizes appearances above all else. That's not a foundation upon which anything resembling success can be built. I don't care if you're Nick Saban with an annual $200M to spend on players, when your school's culture is as deficient in self awareness, common sense, and substance as Texas A&M's is, the inevitable result is an undisciplined, underachieving, unmotivated group of mercenaries who fold after being punched in the mouth and will transfer after one season if they aren't coddled and don't get the playing time they feel they should be getting. You might think a hard-nosed disciplinarian like Saban could overcome these tendencies and build a winning subculture, but that would never happen because Aggy can't get out of their own way--as in, they're pathologically incapable of resisting the urge to meddle with the way their team is coached if the team is not wasting a sufficient amount of time and energy on Aggy traditions and values, e.g., all of those things that are completely antithetical to having a winning subculture.

To put it succinctly, you cannot be Aggy and successful at the same time.

Longest true road game winning streaks in Texas history:

1. 16 games - 10/18/2003 (40-19 @ Iowa State) through 10/28/2006 (35-17 @ Texas Tech). This is 17 if you count at Reliant against Rice as a true road game (9/30/2003 48-7) but you shouldn't. Road loss before the streak: 11/16/2002, 38-42 @ Texas Tech. Road loss ending the streak: 11/11/2006, 42-45 @ Kansas State.

2. 15 games - 11/26/1981 (21-13 @ Texas A&M) through 11/17/1984 (44-23 @ TCU). This counts a game at Little Rock against Arkansas because you should consider that a true road game of course. This is also a 17 game road non-losing streak. Road non-win before the streak: 11/17/1981 14-14 tie @ Houston. Before that there was a 9-7 W @ SMU on 10/24/1981 and before that was the loss before the streak, 10/17/1981, 11-42 @ Arkansas. Road loss ending the streak: 11/24/1984, 10-24 @ Baylor.

3t. 12 games - 10/26/1968 (38-14 @ Rice) through 9/18/1971 (28-10 @ UCLA). Road loss before the streak: 9/28/1968, 22-31 @ Texas Tech. Road loss ending the streak: 10/16/1971, 7-31 @ Arkansas in Little Rock. If you don't count Little Rock as a true road game, which is wrong but okay, then this streak reaches 18 games through 11/18/1972 (27-0 @ TCU) and is ended 9/21/1973, 15-20 @ Miami.

3t. 12 games - 10/14/2000 (28-14 @ Colorado) through 11/2/2002 (27-24 @ Nebraska). Road loss before the streak: 9/16/2000, 24-27 @ Stanford. Road loss ending the streak: 11/16/2002, 38-42 @ Texas Tech. Yes, this means that if we had beaten Texas Tech on 11/16/2002, we would have had a 29 game true road game winning streak.

5. 11 games - 11/5/2022 (34-27 @ Kansas State) through 11/30/2024 (17-7 @ Texas A&M). Road loss before the streak: 10/22/2022, 34-41 @ Oklahoma State. Road loss ending the streak: TBD.

Positive rep because you took a lot of time to type that out and I usually like your posts, but I’m not reading all that.

It's all of it, their entire attitude that just being one of them makes you special and great. Their coaches know that no matter who they sign in recruiting those players will be pumped up as diamonds in the rough and that people should watch the tape. If they sign talented headcases then everyone else is just jealous. They can't lose with A&M media as long as they're still the coach. Same for their players, they are immediately anointed as great when they sign or transfer there. There is no motivation to prove yourself because just being there makes you a hero.

Compare that to Texas. Yeah it's dumb but the fact that it's a meme for us to welcome new coaching hires with an immediate thread to fire them is the exact opposite. We question our coaches and players constantly. I used to worry about posting these facts publicly but A&M people are too stupid and proud to listen to Longhorns anyway.

When you get to Texas our fans start to demand that you prove you are good enough to be a Longhorn. Great players (both talent-wise and as teammates) use that motivation to earn that right. When you get to A&M you've already proven to their fans that you're a hero, the only motivation is to talk shit about how awesome you are just like they do and they'll never question you. That spare OL Zuhn was getting love all week from those yokels for talking shit about how great A&M, Kyle Field, and their fans are. Actually playing football well isn't even a concern.

Billy Liucci has made a lot of money by telling them they have better coaches, better players, and better recruits than Texas every year for 30 years. Yet they're too stupid to wonder why that never produces better results. They will never be great because they will never change. If they actually catch lightning in a bottle someday it will be short-lived because the hero worship will just get worse. Does the name Kevin Sumlin and the phrase "plug-and-play offense" ring a bell?

I know next week is neutral even though it’s in UGA’s backyard. Assuming we get a bye or host a home playoff game, our next road game  to continue the streak is at the Shoe?

Wasn’t debatable to me.  Unless you can target with the side of your helmet.

Plus the player who hit the "victim" from the back knocked him into Makuba's helmet.

Spelling it out like that in the subtitles makes it even more cringe and so much more aggy.

If Michigan can beat Ohio State in Columbus this year, I can believe Penn ST can beat Oregon, not likely, but no impossible. Ohio State had Oregon beat till they made that stupid offensive pass interference penalty.

Dillon Gabriel is the same age as Aaron Rodgers, so he's seen some shit on his journey from UCF all the way to the PNW. He's basically Lewis and Clark.

on rewatch the only one I thought was not the right call was the roughing on Ewers.  I would have been pissed if it was called against us.  they really need to look at targeting and what they want to call or not call.  The Georgia/GT non called targeting on the fumble is the very definition of what targeting is is for as far as the safety aspect.  criminal it wasn't even reviewed but SEC was probably working the booth since it was ACC on the field.
