Texas vs A&M - 6:30pm on ABC

As I understand it, there are basically two types of targeting under NCAA rules:  (1) leading with the crown of the helmet while making forcible contact; or (2) making forcible contact with the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet.

The first type of targeting was not committed by Mukuba because he didn't lead with the crown of his helmet.  The second type was not committed because the opponent player was not defenseless as defined by the rulebook.

What fun would that be? This was the culmination of 13 years of shit talking, and it turned out absolutely magnificently. I've even given the turnovers a pass at this point, cause they kept that glimmer of hope alive just long enough for it to be totally snuffed out with that goal line stand. Put that shit right into my veins.

You had to have been loving life at that point.  I hope it made it worth having to put up with aggy in-laws the other 364 days of the year.

I said this exact thing 👆to my wife yesterday.

Horns up by 17, but those  mistakes in the 2nd half kept that hope alive til the end that they would pull off the win.....NOPE! 🤣

When reviewing targeting was first happening, seems like the only thing the review decided was if the player got ejected or not  but the penalty yardage would still apply...is that a recent change or am I misremembering?

I think that applies if there's a penalty without the targeting.  For instance, roughing the passer, with targeting.  You can lose the targeting and still have the penalty.

If it's only a penalty of targeting, I think if you lose targeting you lose the penalty.

1) yes, 2) you can make forceable contact to head/above shoulders with shoulder, forearm. it isn't strictly helmet when player is defenseless.

It’s the least you can do with all of the creepy old dudes sliding into her DMs on social media today.

dedicating 150 seconds of a pregame OTA national broadcast to extraneous content is not spontaneously or surreptitiously organized or executed

i have watched a thousand college games and never seen this before

speculation:

1 - neither disney, espn, abc, the league or the tower decided to do this for aggy to make them feel better about themselves

2 - after aggy broke the news of our arrival, a few months later texags spontaneously erupted with the 'news' that the first game would be at pyle

3 - aggy pissed, groaned, moaned, whined and bitched about this for a year until the schedule for this year was announced and lo and behold it came to pass

4 - somewhere between 2 and 3, the inclusion of the aggy lyrics and full 2.5 minutes of broadcast time were demanded "or else"

the support for this speculation is the kickoff time - it was pre-set and announced for 6:49pm a week early - following a 230pm broadcast (iron bowl) which was pushed back 20 minutes to 2:50pm and ended around 6:12pm - allowing more than 30 minutes for overtime should it have been neccessary

They moved the times back to ensure no overlap. As you pointed out, it wasn’t just one game ending under 4 hours (bama/auburn), it was two (Tenn/vandy)

add in the rivalry renewal angle, I’m sure they wanted to bake in a few minutes of buffer to hype up the rivalry and had some stuff in the can as a “just in case” those games ended in a reasonable amount of time and they had more time to fill than they initially wanted. My guess is that Aggy song was top of the list to get axed in the previous game ran into the pregame window but it ended in plenty of time so they ran with it.

Ok I hear you all but where does the “forcible” come into play? Does forcible mean launching or any type of contact that causes the ball carrier to fall?

It just means hard contact. Launching addresses a separate issue, "indicator of targeting", which is basically just a quasi objective way to determine intent.

27-25

17-7

i mean thats nuts.... but then again i DISTINCTLY remember when we lost in 2006, that the ags who had their car inspected the first few days of Dec, noticed that the expiration date of the registration was 12-7.

so a whole SHITLOAD of ags ran to get their vehicle re-inspected that year so that they could have 12-7 as their car inspection expiration date.   and they then posted their idiotic L's on Texags for weeks afterwards bragging that they spent another $20ish bucks on an inspection they didnt need and had already paid for, just to have 12-7.

Waiting for aggy to claim the sign belonged to a sip trying to make aggy look bad.

they already did, the sign was brought up early on Saturday and then reignited when Taaffe spoke about it during the post game interviews.

its out there on more than a few posts claiming it was a false flag opp by sneaky T sips to make them look bad

They dont need any help in making themselves look bad. And the inspection before entering process is not exactly Fort Knox...poster board blank on one side+ Sharpie= new uninspected sign.

Of course

Well, and also at first, some of them claimed it was a fake and no such sign actually existed on the Gameday set.

That version must be true because we all know ags don't lie cheat or steal, nor do they tolerate those who do.

As I said earlier last week, they marked this down as a W just solely based on the belief the crowd would intimidate our players and not on schemes, personnel, or coaching.

Fucking hilarious that they thought a bunch of fat, scooter-riding cunts would be intimidating to football players.

Yeah, but that code of theirs has very fine print below it! lol

Also, if you have to have a code like that!

By rule the crown includes the circular area at a radius of six inches around the top of the helmet, so the place on the side lf Makuba’s helmet that contacted the facemask is part of the crown by rule, however, none of the required indications were there and in any case there was no forcible contact and the player wasn’t defenseless. Thus, it can’t be targeting regardless of which part of the rule is being applied.

guys, this is taking a gross turn. not a good look.

i personally would like to talk about how the agros started going all ole miss in the second half and having injuries on every positive texas play that went more than 5 yards and then the player miraculously returning a play later.

it is seemingly one sec tradition that we had largely avoided this season until saturday. that shit is fucking annoying.
