Ho Hum.  We beat aggy at their place, in a game that they were looking to be defining one for their program.  Again.  Same as it ever was, outside of one decade where they rampantly cheated and we had our heads up our own asses (something Texas does periodically every now and again).

Ho Hum- we are entering a new conference and playing for the title.  Again.  Same as when we entered the SWC.  Same as when we entered the Big 12.

Ho Hum- we are back in the playoffs.  Again.

Ho hum- 7 win Sark, sarklostagain has 11 wins in the regular season.  Again.

Ho hum- we are about to sign another top 3 or top 5 recruiting class, again.

Ho hum-  we will probably rape and pillage in the portal, again.

Ho hum- double digit draft picks incoming, again.

Texas is back.  We finally are not trying to play a rigged game straight, as NIL has allowed us to marshal our advantages in an above board manner.  We have an admin that understands the importance of football and excellence to the culture of the University.  We have a coach who is not just smart and competitive but also a genuine dude that people want to see succeed.  Good dudes all over the roster.  This also is built to last.  Let's pay Georgia back for our one bad game of the year and finish winning the title.

Also- just for old times sake

POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR  AGGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIES

SEC championship week game stuff goes here.

You've spelt (and capitalized) "aggyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys" incorrectly.

This. Texas is 11-1 and the top seed in the SEC CCG. Acting like we snuck in at 9-3 or 8-4 lol.

Beat all those teams that upset top teams (Arky, Kentucky, Vandy)

3-0 on the road in the SEC, including at Arky and a night game at aggy

Think of all the criticisms lobbed at the Texas football program over the last 25 years. They were soft (no longer). They can't win the big game (Alabama, Michigan, Aggy, say hello). They have elite skill players but are weak in the trenches (oh, it's already been Broughton). They don't develop players (dL-OL). The coaching staff is a good old boys club (bake this, motherfucker)

Eleven win Esteban has turned all of that shit around. I'm sure if you squint you can find some problems with the coaching staff, but from where he started four years ago to now has been a remarkable exercise in program building. Basically, the administration, AD, alumni, students, and Austin community have all been brought into the program and are contributing to its success. All of that effort to prepare the UT football team for the SEC-SEC-SEC. We are lucky to have Sarkisian.

Now let's go finish the job...

Does Georgia have any incentive to even try to win this game? I would think they’ll sit most of their starters.

You don't think another SEC Championship has any cache?

How about a 1st Round bye in the CFB Playoff? Is that incentive enough?

Our offense is bad enough to lose to anyone. Interesting times.

The offense isn't bad, Ewers is schizophrenic. He looked really good in the first half and then had two awful turnovers. Texas can get away with that against Kentucky and aggy, but not Georgia, Oregon, etc. Fortunately, the o-line is getting better each week and the run game is much more reliable than the first half of the season.

That’s what no one understands. You sit everyone in the title game, you effectively give yourself that bye right now instead of in the first round. If you’re on the bubble yeah you better go all out trying to win. But if you’re a lock why risk anything?

Always trust Helo to have a take so insane it defies logic.

Yeah, because rest in a single game is so much better than a fucking bye week.

Yeah, because rest in a single game is so much better than a fucking bye week.

Plus, the opportunity for a higher seeding and potential home game.

Agreed

The offense is gonna have to step up against Top 10 competition in the playoffs. We'll need a more reliable, consistent passing game.

To win a fucking conference championship.  Something we've only done 3 times this century. JFC

Yes, their incentive is not getting killed by their fans for doing something stupid like sitting their players in the SEC title game.

To have this take once eh, but whatever.

To double down ...

I’m sure Georgia believes they are locked into a home game if they lose, we may see based on the next ranking.

I don’t see value in choosing to lay down in a game that isn’t a must win, to guarantee yourself another win or go home game in the playoffs.

additionally, I think I’d prefer the extra game to be now with time to heal, then go into an 8 team tournament. Rather than starting rest now and then having to play the extra game right at the start of the tournament.

It’s borderline unfair to have a team play in its ccg and then also in the first round, when teams like Tennessee and Ohio state wont have that possibility by virtue of not making the ccg.

Maybe a future state of the playoffs would have all ccg participants with a bye. Makes it meaningful to reach that game win or lose, and doesn’t punish the loser. Would require expansion again though.

Will be interesting to see how many Texas fans show up at essentially a Georgia home game vs keeping their powder dry for the playoffs.

I’m sure we’ll show up pretty well but it’s a legit consideration I suspect many are evaluating.

Well if Georgia loses they will have four losses correct?  They going to put a 4 loss team in the playoffs?

Georgia will unlikely be punished for that loss coming at the hands of Texas in the SECCG. Especially with Ohio State and Miami losing yesterday

Um yeah. A first round bye in the playoffs.

And with three losses their first round game might be on the road.

Initially I thought this post was a sarcastic "Does Georgia want to be there" post but I guess I was wrong.

I think our fans travel well enough to negate this assumption.

And ticket allotment is equal, assuming we sell ours, unlike a game in Athens.

There may be enough longhorns in dc/virginia/carolinas/Atlanta to take care of our allotment without anyone traveling from Texas.

There’s really no sugar-coating that Georgia dominated both lines of scrimmage earlier this season in Austin.  Because of that combined with a schedule that featured 6 of the 7 teams at the bottom of The SEC standings plus A&M & a .500 Michigan team now clearly a shell of its Harbaugh glory days, critics can openly question how tested this 11-1 Texas team really is, and will continue to do so if history repeats in Atlanta next week.  I think both Georgia and Texas have questions at QB (for teams w/ National Championship aspirations), and defenses that can capitalize on those QB questions.  Texas’ O-line simply can not be pushed around again like they were in Austin or the result will be more of the same.  As I’ve stated many times, any doubts I have about the offensive side of the ball this season are matched by near supreme confidence in our defense to compete with anybody, even this Georgia team that was able to run effectively against them.  Can Sark gleam anything from tape of Ole Miss’ win over Georgia?  Georgia’s Alabama loss came mostly on the 1st half efforts of Milroy using his feet, something Texas QB’s didn’t remotely come close to replicating.  Texas is a good team, a very good team, and a contender.  But the mountain top will require topping multiple teams like this one over the next month.  May as well start now

Bad is too strong a word but the overall sentiment that the offense could fumble the bag and lose the game is real. They could also continue running the ball extremely well and put out another physically dominant performance. More bipolar than bad.

Georgia does, they won't be the 5 seed if they lose. Texas could theoretically lose, get the 5 seed, and play some combo of ASU/ISU/SMU/Clemson/Boise in the first two rounds, one of them at home. Win and get the 1-2 seed and you're looking at playing a significantly tougher quarterfinal. We'll see what the rankings look like this week though.

I think the defense is going to come out even stronger against GA than aggy. They're going to be pissed about "giving up" 30 before, even though that was primarily due to Texas offense fuckups and short fields.

Also, Beck sucks.

Also, fuck Kirby in his loudmouth, whiny bitchy ass Barney Rubble face.

That's my in-depth analysis.
