I guess one on the field related questions.  What's Etienne's status?  I don't think he played against GTech, for them he was the most important offensive player last time out.

I bet he would have played had they thought they needed him. I expect all their RBs to be back for the championship game.

There’s really no sugar-coating that Georgia dominated both lines of scrimmage earlier this season in Austin.  Because of that combined with a schedule that featured 6 of the 7 teams at the bottom of The SEC standings plus A&M & a .500 Michigan team now clearly a shell of its Harbaugh glory days, critics can openly question how tested this 11-1 Texas team really is, and will continue to do so if history repeats in Atlanta next week.  I think both Georgia and Texas have questions at QB (for teams w/ National Championship aspirations), and defenses that can capitalize on those QB questions.  Texas’ O-line simply can not be pushed around again like they were in Austin or the result will be more of the same.  As I’ve stated many times, any doubts I have about the offensive side of the ball this season are matched by near supreme confidence in our defense to compete with anybody, even this Georgia team that was able to run effectively against them.  Can Sark gleam anything from tape of Ole Miss’ win over Georgia?  Georgia’s Alabama loss came mostly on the 1st half efforts of Milroy using his feet, something Texas QB’s didn’t remotely come close to replicating.  Texas is a good team, a very good team, and a contender.  But the mountain top will require topping multiple teams like this one over the next month.  May as well start now

Eh, our dline and their oline was more of a tie last time. We made some plays and so did they. Our oline wasn't physically whipped for the most part, but it was out witted with disguised blitzes, stunts, etc. we appear to have cleaned up the communication issues that caused that mishap. I also recommend not assigning Blue any pass protection duties. And hopefully we shouldn't be doing whatever tipped Georgia to our plays anymore as there is no doubt they knew our play calls last time.

Texas' defense outplayed Georgia's offense. Georgia had something like 4 scoring drives that started inside the Texas 35 yard line and gained less than 15 yards. Texas' offense and special teams assisted on 16 of their 30 points.

The disparity in special teams between these two teams is alarming. I will never understand not getting a punter in the portal this offseason and rolling with a true freshman. Just dumb. And the staff hasn’t done a lot of dumb since they have been here. Makes zero sense.

Glad the Horns had a punt blocked last night, because that means they will clean that crap up going forward, in games not involving Little Brother..

Maybe we won't tip plays this time.

Did the communications devices (helmet and coach comms) ever get the encryption update yet?  I can't recall which team this was because I've slept since then, but I saw a game a week or 2 ago in which the booth coaches were using walkie-talkies to communicate down to the sidelines.

Did you have this pre-written before the weekend? Might want to check yesterday's scores, Michigan didn't end up a .500 team.

Does Georgia have any incentive to even try to win this game? I would think they’ll sit most of their starters.

This is a hilariously bad take from the king of bad takes....

as far as the topic is concerned.....

When Georgia rolled into Austin they were still viewed as one of the best teams in the nation having only played one bad half vs Bama despite the close call vs Kentucky.

Now we have seen them damn near lose to Georgia Tech at home, getting man fucking handled by Ole Miss in Oxford, & Bama getting manhandled in Norman and the mentality of our team will be far different.

If we get 1st half v. aggy Ewers we good.  If we get 2nd half v. aggy $ewer$ we fucked.

Pretty much it's on him and the OL to keep him from shitting the bed because that's the only way we lose to Beavis & 2 Point Conversion King

The offense isn't bad, Ewers is schizophrenic. He looked really good in the first half and then had two awful turnovers. Texas can get away with that against Kentucky and aggy, but not Georgia, Oregon, etc.

Maybe they can, maybe they can't

in watching the replay, the upback on the left had to have miscounted how many were on his side of the ball.  complete bust.

I also remember Smart was complaining about the headsets not working for a play or two or early.

Block GA defender #11 this game and Texas wins. That is the dude that seemingly single handedly knew Sark’s plays before Ewers did.

And . . . Cover #32 like a fucking blanket on possession downs; and

Bump #86 hard coming off the line; and

Pop that Evil Tom Petty twin looking quarterback hard early and often.

Get the bye and enjoy the next few weeks, Horns.  You earned it and you richly deserve it.  Maybe you’ll get to enjoy helping ND lose their religion.

SIAP.

Definitely doesn't sound like he's playing next weekend.

You old farts (like me), remember Smart?

Yeah that Smart was a Guadalcanal veteran and a certified bad ass.

The Smart we face next Saturday is a sentient enema.

They really shouldn't have, though.

I was disappointed GT didn't pull out their Two-point Trickery after the first score. Hit that, and game's over. Last game of the season, why the fuck not?

My favorite version is XP kick formation, sideline goes nuts, yelling and screaming, arms waving, NO NO NO NO! Holder and wing blocker stand up, kicker runs for sideline. Ball snapped to holder, wing and kicker head for EZ, holder heads same way, has option to throw to either of them or run it. Seen it work, woulda loved to see GT give it that do or die trying.

I don't know the best place to put this so it's going here.

A&M was hellbent on taking away our screen game and they did so very effectively. Not without cost, though. They really sold out and it contributed to our success on the ground. Here's a breakdown of our first TD drive. I haven't gotten to rewatch the rest so it may not hold later in the game.

[22:20] 1st and 10: #21 keys on the RB pass immediately and blows it up for a loss. Well played.

[22:53] 2nd and 13: Look at how 18 stays on Helm. He almost looks like a QB spy. Helm was clearly one of their keys, which is smart.

[23:36] 3rd and 10: #21, #26 and the nickel immediately chase the flats. They actually blew their coverage completely and Moore was open if we pick up the stunt. Instead, Quinn runs for 25 on a bum ankle because half their defense is in the opposite flat.

[26:00] 1st and 10: #3 is the one assigned to Helm. He and the rest of the defense are ready for that screen. Well done.

[26:35] 2nd and 14: #18 creates a massive hole for Wisner off counter by taking bad steps to the flat.

[27:02] 1st and 10: Inside zone goes for 11 instead of 4 because the nickel completely bites on some very basic eye candy in the flat.

[27:25] 1st and 10: 1 yard loss and Scourton plays it well so there's probably nothing there even if it's a good throw and catch. But again, Sark is trying to punish overpursuit of the RB with a tunnel screen off RB motion.

The rest of the drive is pretty standard but I thought this was some good cat-and-mouse between Elko and Sark. I think it's important to acknowledge the space the screen game gets us even when the screens themselves aren't working. The two passes to the flats went for -7 yards but you could argue A&M's overpursuit contributed to 50 yards via vacated space on Quinn's scramble and the two Wisner runs.
