Not sure if it's hilarious or sad that the reward for information leading to the suspect is $10.000.  Just reading this thread at the millions and billions being thrown around and the reward is only $10,000.

That’s the NYPD tip amount. It’s public money so it pretty much never goes higher than that. In San Antonio the max amount is $5000. Private orgs/citizens are free to put up their own money for a reward.

two jackets, two backpacks. he wears different ones at the hostel and starbucks. in an alleyway near the scene, he switches to the jacket and backpack that are shown in pics of the shooter. when he gets away from the scene, he switches back to the original jacket and backpack.

Alleyway isn’t what movies make it out to be. It’s a normal ass walkway which tons of people traverse on the daily.  Would be surprised if there aren’t cameras throughout it  since if it’s the one I think it is, it has a building overhang. Even if no cameras, people shedding bags and jackets might not get a reaction right away but people might remember once they get to the office and hear the news.

With the clothing and pack discrepancy - the PD isn't claiming all of the surveillance pics are from the day of the shooting. Those smiling pics could be from a different day and/or different part of the city. Hence the change in bag and outerwear. The cops already think he was staying at a hostel on the Upper West Side.

From a year and a half ago. This dude is getting a knock on his door if he hasn’t already

Yeah....if the list of suspects is "people who have stories like this," then.....yeah, it's gonna be a LOT of suspects.

where's the best reddit thread following this, i'm not finding much good out there

I read through the 35-page thread about this on websleuths.com last night (just to torture myself, apparently), and some of the highlights were someone asking "for someone who can check, did UHC stock go up or down today?" and another person asking if they had ruled out the sons yet, since they are young and white. The kicker is they all think they are clever detectives when most of them show zero ability to use Google or read any posts/updates made before their comment.  I don't expect any Reddit threads to be much better.

I wouldn't be surprised if the killer was trying to target any of the UHG suits, because if he was really keeping close tabs specifically on Brian Thompson, he wouldn't have been casually getting food and water at the Starbucks down the street and get back to the hotel only 5 minutes before Thompson walked by. I'm sure if it were Andrew Witty who went by at that time, he would've been the target.

Well, the ones who posted about that dude specifically on their twitter is probably a small list.

Damn that’s a lot of camera history tracking in just a day. Which kind of pisses me off considering there was a jack hole doing F1 racing through Astoria and the grand avenue parkway while being on YouTube Live and they never caught the shithead. Fuck the uber rich for getting better treatment than us normal folk.

Yeah....I'm betting that list isn't tiny either.  It's probably comparable in size to the list of dudes who have liked posts showing Salma Hayek in a bikini.

If anyone is cheering this guys death, they should most likely also be happy if their bosses at work are murdered for the same reason. If you work at a large employer, your employer is the one indirectly turning down any claim. They assume the financial risk not the ins company. The ins company is only handling the admin work for a fee.

Ask your ceo about the percentage of employee claims that are denied? Zero chance that he will want to discuss that or get back to you. They hide behind the insurance companies.

Found the health insurance exec.

I might lay low for awhile dude.

Seems like the NYPD has really shitty image inference AI or is intentionally throwing shit out there to see if something sticks.

A 30 second visual review of the photos of the guy smiling would say, "that ain't the same guy." And that bike is clearly not a Citi Bike.

It really shouldn’t be that hard. I’ve seen plenty of movies, so I know all you have to do is find a grainy image, press zoom in enough times, and voila, clear as day

I doubt it's the last.

There are desperate people who will become more desperate.

This is how revolutions start.

Disclaimer: I am in no way promoting revolution or the murder of anyone.

What’s interesting from a societal standpoint is this guy and situation is more popular and has more viewing interest and intrigue than the bomb Joker 2. I guess we like our Arthur Blank crack-ups with less song and dance.

It's a lot easier to appear "Calm and collected" when there are no loud bangs to make it real and make everyone around you panic and scream.

I was wondering more about how he knew the time and location where the victim would be.  How did he know he would be leaving the hotel so early?

Maybe someone within UHC set him up.

This is what I was wondering amount. Anybody could shoot some asshole in the back. How did he know that was the right asshole, and how did he know where he was staying and when he would be leaving?

Seems like they’ve had a change of heart. I wonder why?

Can't change a heart if you don't have a heart. Its like back in something like '86 when Coke announced that they were increasing the cost of a vending machine coke on  campus from 50 to 75 cents. Students were OUTRAGED!

Coke backs down, then changes it anyway during the semester break.

Once all this blows over, and it will, they'll go back to charging more for less. No CEOs will see a dent in their bonuses.

It feels lazy. I’m not getting out of the proverbial bed on this for a measly $10k…and I ain’t a CEO of a massive company or anything.

Vid of him on a call before the shooting. Somebody's about to get served a no-knock visit.

I think him being on the phone like that early in the morning before doing something like this points to somebody else being involved. Possibly somebody keeping any eye out for the CEO.

Have none of you done the fake call/pretending to talk on your cell phone routine when walking in sketch areas and/or trying to blend in and out?

It’s easy to hold a phone up to your ear and pretend like you’re just a guy walking and talking on the phone instead of someone prowling for your target

This, beat me to it.

… or maybe it was a call from a concerned person who thought that maybe he might not have an extended car repair warranty.
