That might be correct, but this one they probably got his name from the flirtatious ho at the hostel.  Cross checked that with the one major bus service that services the US and it found a match.

They don’t have his real name I don’t think.

One of the more interesting items from this whole thing is the implication from them knowing he boarded a bus in Atlanta.

That means there is likely a video database capturing huge streams of video data from all over the country, holding it for weeks/months/years? and using facial recognition scanning to ID the person. I’m unclear how this is constitutionally legal.

There could be other paths to this data, but seems low probability.

You can film people in public spaces, use tech to ID and track movements, sell as a service to LE.   I think it's best to assume that outside your home you are being recorded at all times.

or you could just vacuum and ingest every electronic signature everywhere on the planet every hour of every day month after month year after year

the question is who gets to use it

and what they do with it

to date we have little evidence it is being used "openly" - even to drop a clue to civilian LE to help them on their way when a 1%er is liquidated

the atlanta bus datapoint came early - i look forward to learning the source

the source

they probably used CCTV to retrace his steps from the morning back to the hostel, and the hostel gave him up including the fact he flirted with the employee when he checked in. He probably told her the Atlanta bus part.

from Reddit on the question of whether or not this dude gets caught:

I have to wonder if this guy was acting alone or if there weren't more involved.

i too was beguiled by the egress

it looked like professional tradecraft

but the hostel video with the mask down - that's sloppy

if he made that mistake - regardless of preparation - he made others

he's findable without help from the boys

If we are now declaring open season on overpaid CEOs, might I suggest as the next one on the list a certain illegal immigrant from a racist African country?

a) if we are declaring open season, then the 2025 Celebrity death thread will include a bunch of new names
b) he is already on the 2024 list

He's been on my list for so long that I took a year off for 2024 just to see if I had been jinxing it all along.

I think that 2 and 3 are far more likely than 1, at least unless it happens while under extreme influence.

What about kills himself in a submarine running into a trench when fucked up on narcotics?

Spoiler

1 only happens if there's intent, so if there's an open question about his intent (but let's be real, with a guy like him, you KNOW there would be a tweet/manifesto) then I think the ruling on the field would have to be accidental death, and in your scenario if he's fucked up on narcotics that might not negate intent but it wouldn't by itself prove intent so the ruling on the field would be non-suicide.

2 only happens if the autopsy supports that the direct cause of death was toxicological, but in your scenario the direct cause of his death would be a rapid unplanned compression event.

3 only happens if the accident was preventable, so in your scenario there's basically no argument that he needed to be on that submarine and no argument that he needed to be fucked up on narcotics while operating it, so I would call that a preventable accident.

This been discussed? I know it's Daily Mail and all but found it interesting.

Murdered health insurance boss Brian Thompson backed 'malicious' AI that denied 90% of patient coverage

Not saying he deserved to be murdered (let just get that out of the way) but how is this any different from people who add fentanyl to party drugs knowing some percentage of strangers are going to die of overdoses?

But....I mean.....let's parse that.  Murder is not an approvable solution.  BUT....he may well have DESERVED his fate.  It's just that the fate he deserved is prohibited by law.  Just mentioning that their is often a disconnect between morality, justice, and the law.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but I was taking care not to say it, mainly because it's not what I want to focus on.

He shoulda ridden a Mexico bus. Bet they don't have video data on the Mexico bus.

I have decided I will step up and take the vacant UHC CEO job. But only if I get the first year's salary upfront. That will help me avoid financial complications after I deliberately steer the company directly into icebergs. I'm talking going after it like a crackhead chimp with bolt cutters who thinks they hid a banana inside a Cray computer. Mayhem, cry havoc, and loose the dogs out from under the porch.

I get the sense that the video is of him arriving in NYC, on the bus that originated in Atlanta, and not before that.  So a Mexico autobus would have given up the same evidence, since it seems that everything in NYC is on tape.

Been getting post surgery denials on procedures that were pre-authorized (we have FTEs whose sole function is getting prior auths), Supposedly from “3rd party independent auditors” which are really subsidiaries of the payers. I’m sure they are using AI to scrub op notes looking for keywords and if they aren’t there they deny, no matter how accurately you describe the surgery.

We then have to sift through the denial letter, dictate an addendum to the op note using their preferred verbiage, and resubmit the claim within a very short window. Then cross fingers and wait

Oh and this is often after submitting an appeal of an initial denial of the precert and having to speak to another surgeon, who 99% of the time approves the surgery and says wtf didn’t they auth this in the first place

😡😡😡😡😡

Ana after reading this…

Has this motivated a larger conversation about the obvious conflict of interest between publicly traded companies and things like… human healthcare? Or is that waiting until police have ruthlessly murdered this guy because he failed to follow conflicting orders?

And they stop next to the best taco joints in every town. Those and the Chinatown buses are Worlds Unknown to the average, well, me, until I was 40. Like Greyhound without the adversarial attitude.

Oh you mean US buses for Mexicans. I was talking about Mexican buses in Mexico, which are comparable to the Vonlane experience

I’ve ridden a bus from one side of Mexico to the other and back. Of course, that was a long long time ago. Surely they have improved the buses since then?

Not the turimex I would take from Irving to Monterey once a month. Fun times at the border jumping off and grabbing a whole pizza and seeing the bus had moved 8ft in 2 hours

I have it on good authority that the buses that originate in the US (especially Greyhound buses) and cross the border are vastly less comfortable than if you hop off, walk across the border, and spring for a luxury bus line in Mexico (which still comes out cheaper than remaining on the piece of shit that got you to the border)
