what do you have against tech bros?

Did I say anything negative about tech bros? You're the one shitting on people who often purposely forgo higher salaries for better benefits, e.g. retirement and insurance.

So you took offense to the fact that government employees whine and bitch about co-pays at a much higher clip than other patients. Sorry?

Fawkes didn’t kill anyone, got caught, and was tortured and killed by the crown, iirc. I think his big thing was not rolling on his co-conspirators.

Most overrated historical figure maybe of all time. He was a psycho zealot that just wanted to institute a catholic kingdom. On top of that, he wasn’t even the architect of the plot or a leader of the group. He was given one specific job and failed at it, which is what led to the unraveling of the plan.

You're both taking it too literally and thus missing the point.

Fawkes is a symbol of resistance against oppression.

The point of warning here, which many in the “privileged classes” have raised the alarm on, is something so long known JFK commented “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
That’s it. Fuck people over long enough, and they’ll break and fight back the only way they can.
So, maybe…don’t fuck people over cruelly and relentlessly. Just a thought.

As a co-member of the privileged class who would be with you among the first to go in any revolution, I think it is worthwhile to point out that JFK was 2000 years late - Plato wrote the Republic in 380BC and Karl Marx described the dangers in the 1800s. Class disparity has been a continuous struggle throughout history. This isn't something unique and won't even be remembered as we experience a declining wealth in the US.

Is it a "fact"? As an actual real live human being who's spent time in lobbies, I've never seen a single patient ever whine and bitch about a fucking $25 co-pay, living in a city chock-full of government employees for 26 fucking years. And yet, I have seen/heard an insurance executive bitch about government employees feeling like they're entitled to fucking healthcare.

Are you a doctor? Do you spend hours at night reviewing charts to ensure you get the correct magic code so that insurance providers actually pay what they've promised? During visits at my physician assistant sister's place, I've seen her stay up well past midnight, filling that shit in because she not only cares about getting paid but also that her patients get the healthcare they need.

If so, it's funny that you'll bitch and whine about a measly $25 but nary a word about the insurance companies who are bilking you (if you are indeed a healthcare practitioner) and your patients out of $1000s. Or is it that you simply enjoy seeing your worthless, thankless patients (especially those government leeches) denied coverage for needed care and procedures?

It's pretty clear what you're doing here in this thread. You fully support an immoral, for-profit insurance model and have chosen to scapegoat a class of workers as a justification for that defense.

How many people do you think have died because United Healthcare denied coverage to patients? Let's put whiny, bitchy civil servants working for the State of Texas on one side of that scale and insurance profiteers on the other. Whose hands are bloodier?

I don't believe I have ever said anything positive about the insurance industry. And I have said something positive about a government worker so you have that going for you which is nice. OTOH, I have also said that I would prefer 30 tech patients to you.

Not to mention Kennedy didn't exactly walk the walk when it came to Vietnam.  Fuck him.

Assad is currently in the "finding out" part of JFK's fuck around and find out equation.

It’s like some of them have never read a list of top 5 most despised professions.

This schmuck’s murder is fairly unique in how many people choose not to condemn the killer. When a cop, a lawyer, or a banker is offed, there is always a contingent expressing outrage and sorrow. Health insurance guy? Not so much.

I’m completely late to this thread but but gov employees insurance sucks compared to a a decent company. At least in Texas I know and live it

It all sucks. Superior Medicaid is probably the best plan in Texas. They approve pretty much every cancer treatment I’ve requested. You’re hosed if you want genetic testing though.

Cant tell you how many wealthy parents claim to have great insurance, then their insurance wont approve the standard of care for childhood leukemia.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Hell, of a lot more than you. We have had multiple meetings whether to ditch the insurance plan city government workers are under. I went into the plan with the sense that the insurance reimbursement sucked but the patient base would be a benefit to the practice. So, it isn't like I had any intrinsic dislike. But, 10 years later, here we are.

Why? Because I don’t support murder? Weird.

No, because you inserted yourself in a minor message board argument to go "LoL yOu sHoULd bE mURdeReD" because you're butthurt that your handwringing over the dead mass murderer isn't getting any traction.

Because I am using satire to point out the utter ridiculousness that people are celebrating a murder.  It’s a slippery slope to play on.

When you point out something that the oligarchs who exploit and literally kill thousands upon thousands will listen and respond to OTHER than violence, you’ll see vastly different responses around here. We’ll wait. I’m sure you have the right suggestion, one where we’ll just slap our foreheads and go “gee, I can’t BELIEVE nobody has thought of that before!”
I suspect everyone here would be much happier with a story of “CEO confronted by upset policyholders, realizes the inhumanity of current policies, implements positive changes,” but we also all know that story will happen well after the story of “leprechaun riding a unicorn gallops through Candyland to deliver world peace.”
We have built an oligarchy that 1) successfully resists any and all efforts at even incremental improvement and humanity (see the steps the oligarchy is taking to now fully control the information ecosystem and control all messaging and suppress dissent, cough, Elon), and 2) actually kills a boatload of people.
My question for you, realizing those things are hard truths, is WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?
Seriously. Implement a for-profit system that rewards a small group of people with MASSIVE wealth in exchange for them literally condemning hundreds of thousands of people to death, and squash any effort to change that…and you expected…what else?

So you condone vigilante justice.

Condone? Wouldn’t necessarily go that far.
Conclude that it is an entirely expected, natural, and 100% certain outcome given the path that society has decided to follow? Yep.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? You refuse to answer my question. And we all know why.

Jesus Christ…you are the board’s biggest drama queen.  What do I need to address? That Brisket isn’t shocked this happened?  That the healthcare system sucks? There you go. Now you address the fact that you condone vigilante justice.

And here, I’ll even give you a stock answer you can cut and paste: “This is absolutely expected. It’s why society shouldn’t shred the social contract. After all, if you took away the peaceful legal enforceability of ordinary contracts, deals would be enforced by violence and the threat of violence, the way they are in places without the rule of law. The social contract is no different; if you place yourself above peaceful enforceability, you have foolishly opted into enforceability by violence.”
See. It’s that easy. I think that this is a horrible, regrettable outcome. Where we differ is our read on who opted INTO this system. UHC opted into it. UHC set these rules, and steadfastly refused to budge on them. So….the rest of us were dragged into that system, which was not of our choosing.
The answer is “when you opt for a system with no recourse but violence, you have no standing to complain when people take you up on it.”
