So about the South Korea Trump like coup

They had their reverse jan 6 over there when their Trump like president declared martial law and banned the legislature from meeting, they had the power to reverse martial law and had to be helped to climb walls and enter the national assembly, which they did and reversed his power grab.

It certainly is a blue print to follow, we are now in the "prevent dictatorship at any cost" phase, this includes being ready at a second's notice to protest everywhere all at once when it inevitably happens, will we or are we too hauty to camp out in the freezing cold?

Probably too many Americans are pussies. These people weren't having it. At all. Ronny Chieng's Daily Show segment on it was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV.  Go to 5:30.

Protesting won't do shit but get you killed when Trump's gestapo starts opening fire. It would take a storming of the White House/Mar a Lago by hordes of barbarians.

All of this is Congress (Republicans) fault for giving away their power to check the president. If they don't stand up now and check him on his idiotic appointments they'll lose the power forever. What a bunch of idiots.

What I found notable about the SK protests was that the doctors had gone on strike. Doctors. What a powerful weapon that is. The trade unions were planning strikes the next day.

We all need to ask ourselves what we’d do if dipshit attempts a power grab. I consider myself difficult to replace at my work and I would entertain the notion of a general strike. Money talks and when corps can’t make it, they’ll pull the plug on any serious shenanigans.

And yes, protest also works if they are widespread.

I don't think Americans have experienced a dictatorship in recent enough history to be bothered to protest/strike.

He won’t feel the need to seize power unless it’s under threat, meaning things have gone off the rails and ordinary people may not feel like being passive. Plus, if traditional protests turn violent, striking is a much safer form of protest that can be done by a far larger number of people.

If Trump just grifts for 4 years then I agree. Sucks that that is the best case scenario.

Exactly we need to tell people to stock up on food, save PTO, save money, a general strike must also be in the cards but only for 2028 people will be angry at us if we do this way too early, it is a last stop gap to prevent the unconstitutional third term attempt or the full power grab.

We started watching it again when Stewart came back into the mix. Monday’s with him are obviously great, but the rotating host strategy has been quite enjoyable. I’d highly recommend giving it a shot again. I’m a big fan of Desi Lydic, but the others are usually pretty solid as well. They definitely got some quality writers back in the room.

Huge victory for basic human decency, the more the underlings are scared of failure the less likely they are willing to follow illegal orders.

A plurality of republicans don’t have a problem with trump suspending the constitution.

Lulz.

More like the overwhelming majority don't have a problem. Like 98% of Republicans. If they did, Trump would have never been the candidate in the 2024 election. Trump winning to install Project 2025 is their wet dream.

Republicans have been gunning for the Constitution since Reagan and Falwell said they were the God Party.

And they are busy smashing down the Wall between Church and State.

Right before our eyes.

This is the answer.  Half of this country has the power to make it effectively non-functional, and since that seems to be the measure of last resort (that won't get you gunned down), that's what it will take.
