SMU is in the Duke/USC category of “religious schools”.

Once again, Methodists are not real Christians because they accept science and shit.

The M in SMU is as meaningful as the AM in aggy.

Nope. My current Methodist pastor has a degree from Perkins.

If Bama gets in over SMU, then the committee sets the precedent from year 1 in this playoff system that the conference championship means jack shit. You can't reward a team who lost to a terrible OU team as bad as they did and punish a team who made the conference championship game and lost a heartbreaker.

But it's the SEC and Bama and the other team is SMU so who knows.

Going with

1 Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Boise State
4. Arizona State
5. Texas
6. Notre Dame
7. Penn State
8. Ohio State
9. Tennessee
10. Indiana
11. Clemson
12. SMU

Texas would be very lucky to get the #5 slot. Wouldn't be surprised to see Notre Dame or Penn State get the #5 and the other the #6, leaving Texas at #7.

Ackshually, SMU retains ties to the United Methodist Church, unlike Duke or USC.  But, as of 2019, it is no longer controlled by the UMC, but that decision is disputed and on appeal, and the fundamental disagreement, LGBTQ "rights" in the church, has been resolved.

Welcome to the United Methodist Church.

Cool bro. That has nothing to do with the undergraduate experience.

Because that is the nature of Methodists.

You better have your ass up by 9 tomorrow because we're going to brunch with the Johnson's after church.

Duke's Divinity School also remains heavily tied to the UMC.

However, Duke and USC renounced affiliation with the church long ago and I don't believe were ever actually "controlled" by the UMC, as has been SMU, especially not USC.

What is your "gotcha" attempt here?

Yeah I'm sure that SMU hands out theological degrees. We actually have a fucking beautiful chapel and church and a great library that's awesome to study at. That's called being inclusive and having principles. It's an institution founded on principles and we uphold that.

Send your kid to SMU they're just as likely to come back Jewish as they are to adopt some lunatic Christian philosophy.

The undergrad curriculum and experience is not religious at all.

That's the thing.  Methodists aren't lunatics.  Partake of our generosity, see our example, we won't proselytize you unless you are willing.  Oh, and pay your tuition.

I am given to understand that taking a degree at Perkins is the most rigorous intellectual test of faith people undergo.

No we're just decent Americans that care about our neighbors.

Sorry if I'm hot that's maybe the worst cfb Saturday I've ever had.
