I will not blame this all on the Refs.  But it is interesting that the holding penalties that seemed to dog us the first half almost completely disappeared in the second half after Sark made that comment at half.

1st half almost all were on our receivers, they just weren't calling linemen

Ewers is good and he won 11 games but he's not going to throw you to a win over 60 minutes against DC's that know what they are doing.

Exactly.  He did enough to win to be  considering the 2 missed FGs.  The problem is that we couldn’t run the ball worth shit and if you’re banking on Quinn balling out against Georgia, that’s a recipe for a loss.  It is what it is.  The reality is the difference in this game was the Georgia kicker made his kicks and ours didn’t.  That’s the difference.  If Bert makes one of those, everyone here is sucking each other dicks.

I mean, they're ranked 43rd against the run. If this offensive line is so kick ass you impose your will regardless of who's lined up across from you. I think it's safe to say this OL is good, not great.

Bond has been hurt for weeks, and it's made a difference, he went from the leading receiver to almost an afterthought. It would have been better to have just set him down till he got healthy with the bad ankle. He just kept hurting it every week. Today he finally just had to hop off the field. He was certain first round draft choice till the injury. He will still get some consideration because when healthy he is a real weapon

I feel like Sark out schemes hisself.
he gets down to the 25 and does these long development plays for what???!?

we were killing them on the short passes. I’m not understanding why Sark was so hellbent on the long throws.
Wasn’t he known for his short passing game and letting WR work?? They did today and we went away from it.

Funny the two missed field goals were right after huge sacks Quinn took to make them further.

Sure that’s a fair statement.  How many teams can say what you just posted.  Oregon?  Truth is that we got 2 #1 QBs.  One isn’t who we thought he’d be.  He’s a game manager that struggles with pressure.  The other guy isn’t ready yet.  How many of you forget that we already benched Quinn against UGA only to see Manning come in, struggle and fumble the ball.  Unless you want to ruin him, just be patient.  We can still win it all with Quinn.  For fucks sake, we were 1 play last year from playing for a national championship and we have a very favorable seed to get there this year.  I think the reality is that most posters can’t come to terms that Georgia has a better roster and better staff that Texas right now.  I bet that changes next year.

Expand

I don't think we can win a national championship with a game manager and no elite RB. Quinn played a lot better in this game but we are not going to win many playoff games when we can't score late in the game. This is our ceiling with Quinn unfortunately, which is not bad, when comparing with our recent history, but success is an insatiable beast that needs to be constantly fed.

Quick passes the window gets even smaller when you aren’t having to defend deep throws.

Basically you need to put zip on the ball or evade the pass rush to complete a pass in the red zone. Neither thing Quinn can do.

This is it.  Uga didn’t have to account for Quinn.   Amazing what happens to that D when they play Haynes  King.    just a bad matchup for us.

If you aren’t worried at all about the QB running or passing and all you need to focus on is the run, it’s pretty simple to stop it.

Yeah but it’s not even a need for a mobile QB, it’s a QB with ANY fucking chance to run and we would’ve won the game easily.

They pin their ears back and know he’s gonna be exactly in one spot like a statue on passing downs.

Tough game to watch. Feels like we lost this one ourselves. Missed FGs, offensive struggles in the red zone. I don't get why we don't give Manning a shot just for a change of pace if nothing else. It's like we did the same exact shit as last time we played GA and got the same result. It could have helped Ewers too but we'll never know. Still proud of the team and looking forward to the playoffs. \m/

This. We broke off huge chunks in their ass whenever we wanted downfield and then would go back to rushing for a loss of 3. This was the most passing yardage all year. By far.

Were you watching the game?

We got yards on a couple big plays but couldn’t score with a short field. Only scored one touchdown the whole fucking game.

Two interceptions and six sacks

We didn’t lose because we were just passing all over them. We lost because our QB sucked shit for the 3rd week in a row.

Our defense is the only reason we are competitive

All while scoring a whopping 19 points with 3 of them coming in overtime.

We aren’t an effective offense right now, yards don’t mean jack shit if you can’t score. And you can’t score because you keep getting sacked. You can’t score because you throw interceptions. You can’t score because you can’t move the ball in the red zone, that’s the passing game failing.

I watched a dozen plays tonight by makuba.  Every play he makes he comes in looking to end someone’s life.  Hes so fast and tries to run through someone’s face. That hit on the qb will go down in gif history.  That was a bright spot I hope we can some how keep him one more season.

Why doesn’t Sark just start him

Or Owens

Any QB who will stand in there and make the throws instead of pussing out.

Just realized we are all burying a very hilarious lead...

We decapitated Georgia for the playoffs lolol.   Good luck to fat crying visor baby when Beck can't throw and the backup just got CTE.

They own us for now but wow they're fucked for their next game lol.

Very disappointing. Defense plays lights out until the final play. You know Beck can’t throw so why isn’t the los stacked?  Q isn’t making reads when the D challenges his brain. Best team Texas has had since ‘09 or maybe’05. And it’s being wasted.

When Sark call up the middle for zero or minus yds and we go 3/out defense was getting a bit gassed. OL + Shirley Temple field goal kicker, and ST + Stubborn Sark lost this one.

They dont own shit. That was a meaningless victory. I care about national titles. I wouldve loved to have won it but it really isnt a biggy. That was a good tune up for the playoffs, it showed us our problems. We are playing well enough to beat anyone and we got a bad game out of our system.

It's crazy that all those classes he's stacked, he's only been to the playoffs 3 times. 2017/2021/2022. I guess 4 now, but he's been there for 9 years. It's not like Georgia is a constant CFP player. Now that it's gone to 12, sure, he'll get there, but before that, it was just 3 times. Just 1 more time than Michigan, and 1 more title. It's pretty sobering when you think about it, especially with all the talent he had acquired in all that time. Saban mopped his ass consistently. He's a good coach, but he also has the same amount of titles as Dabo. They keep saying UGA is the king of the SEC, yet they only have 2 titles. They're good, but not great by any means.

Expand

He has definitely stacked blue chips in the top 3 level for enough consecutive years to have as good a roster as can be had. Having to contend with Saban and his also thoroughly blue-chip teams threw a wrench in his goals more than a few times. But, I'm sure he's had a learning curve to headcoaching that is required above and beyond having the talent. Sark is taking his lumps now. We'll see how far he goes. Does a lot right, but from the comfort of my couch, he has lessons to learn too.

Texas won the majority of regular plays in this game. Georgia won the vast majority of the critical plays (that includes vs the Texas defense). It was like playing the Chiefs. They play like shit most the game, but you know if it is close in the 4Q they will win. That is what championship teams do

Eh.  The weaknesses we've showed against UGa are the same ones we've mostly showed all year.

We got some bad bounces, a couple of bad penalties, but some pretty big self-inflicted wounds and not all on the OL/Cam Williams for once.   So, those were bad things that could have changed the outcome, but other than the penalties, we are who we are.

The good news, though, is not many/any of the remaining teams are as well-suited as Georgia to completely stymie our offense.  Maybe Alabama, Notre Dame.
