Don’t tell them they’re playing Georgia, LSU, SoCar, Tenn and Vandy again next year lol

They play @Florida State, ULM, Wisconsin, and Eastern Illinois next year in OOC. The toughest game is at Florida State and I'm only being generous because they're traveling to Tallahassee. FSU was 2-10 this year. Bama's little shitfit over being left out for once is nauseating and Saban should rightly get shit for whining because his former team was the one without a chair.

OOC had nothing to do with it and SMU also played 8 conference games and two P5 teams. You think it's easy for SMU to schedule a big name home and home OOC? Is scheduling HCU worse than scheduling Mercer? Bama's just pissy because being Bama didn't get them an automatic in like every other year. Again, don't lose to 6-6 teams. You leave yourself open to being left out. That didn't happen under Saban. Alabama only has Alabama to blame for their snub.

I think something being overlooked is how important this 2-week break is for Texas. IMO, we are the team that will benefit most from this.

Ewers has been at 75%, two of our top WRs have not been anywhere close to healthy, and Banks has been out at LT. Our offense has been a mash unit for a few weeks.

Getting those guys back to 100% is significant.

I was actually thinking of this yesterday. It added to the frustration of not putting Georgia away in the first half. An extra 11 days off for a total of 3.5 weeks would have been amazing for our banged up squad.

I have thought about this, but then I have also thought about those teams sitting around getting cold for 3.5 weeks and a team coming in with a game under their belt. If you are ASU, who has run off 6 wins in a row, is sitting around for 3.5 weeks not playing anybody really what you want to do?

I think SMU/PSU and TX/Clemson will be closer than most here expect. Texas keeps playing down to everyone and SMU’s start yesterday seems to have tainted everyone’s opinion.

I got the number of conference games wrong for SMU. It was 8. But let's also add that SMU jumped up a full division this year and dominated it. The conference that has put multiple teams in the previous playoffs. They had one slip up in the OOC against another P4 and lost by a walk off FG in the championship. They didn't get assblasted by a shitty OU team and only got a FG for points. Sure, you could argue OU is loads better than most of the ACC but not this year's OU team that had 8+ different OL combinations and played without most of their WRs. Bama doesn't lose that game and they are in. All those Bama players know what the "SEC grind" is like. They only have DeBour to blame for failing to has his team prepared. Every other SEC team in the playoff had similar almost slip ups...yet they didn't lose that critical 3rd game.

I don't.

The ACC is ass. Clemson even making the ACC conference championship is a product of Miami being a complete fraud. Sagarin has the ACC as the worst power conference behind the SEC, Big 12, and Big 10.

Both are going to lose by double digits and everyone will realize the ACC does indeed suck.

Put them at the 12 seed and left Clemson out presumably.  Or maybe had them even higher.

I would have hoped ND would have gotten the Miami treatment.

Man I don’t know.

Clemson has some fucking studs on that team.

I am not going to underestimate them myself.

This place last night vs today is wild. Texas has scored 40 points in 10 quarters. We’re not blowing out anyone right now.

It almost backfired but Georgia treated this game as a game to rest players.

They didn't play their LT Earnest Greene, their best offensive weapon in Etienne, and sat a couple key contributors on D that also played against Texas. Georgia had zero respect for Georgia Tech.

Like I said, it almost backfired but it worked.

If you have key people hurt yes but if you don't it would still be nice to give everyone a week off and still have 2 weeks to ramp them back up again.  you can also work on game planning the opponent after the one you are playing a bit.

most coaches would probably rather be recruiting and just more opportunity for major player injuries.

That's fine but Clemson and SMU are not ass. Texas and Penn State aren't playing Stanford and Wake Forest.

Couple that with Dabo has stupid Kirby like power of doing backs against the wall, us against the world shit that can motivate his players to play a lot better than when it's an average ACC team they're facing. I'm just glad this game is at home.

I think Clemson is very mediocre.

They wouldn't even have sniffed the playoffs if not for winning the worst power conference in the country. They're a 3 loss team that was a couple plays away from having 5 losses in the worst power conference.

They don't suck but they aren't a playoff-caliber team. Almost every advanced metric has Clemson and A&M ranked next to each other. That's about who they are as a team.

That’s my opinion. We’ve really lucked out on facing JAG QB’s this year. I guess Beck could be considered good but I haven’t seen it.

Quite possibly.

I remember watching that state championship game and thinking I wish we were getting him.

He was throwing lasers in that game.

Not to mention some much-needed rest for Wisner. 60 carries over the last 2 weeks had at least a little (if not a lot) to do with his ineffectiveness last night.

the media will try to start up the Texas didnt recruit Klubnik BS.  He was all in with Dabo due to the Jesus quotient.   He was never going to Texas once Dabo got to him.

Personally, I hammered it immediately.

Crazy? Probably not. I think it probably looks like a lot of Texas games this year and we win by 7-10 but I’d be shocked at a blowout.

I always chuckle at phrases like "Klubnik is a gamer and gamers are scary in elimination games."

Complete word salad. It's pretty much CJ admitting the guy isn't very good but "he's got heart and that matters in big moments." That shit is so overplayed.

There is a physiologic clutch response, for lack of a better term. Certain individuals in high stress situations (not just athletic competition) react differently. Heart rate slows down, reaction time speeds up. Microlevel instantaneous release of testosterone into bloodstream (in males and females) has been measured though it is unknown if it is causative. Probably has to do with epinephrine and norepinephrine receptors in the brain and periphery as well

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and biofeedback can help an individual improve theirs.

I absolutely would have rather had SMU/Boise.  IMO, they should have been reversed with Clemson/ASU. Clemson beat SMU and I think ASU is better than Boise. Clemson is playing with house money and get the warmer weather site for the playoff game. Clemson will have talent and more big bodies than SMU would have.

The good news is we took a team that beat Clemson by 31 to overtime(and very well could have won) in a road game.

Clemson two weeks ago played SCAR dead even. A team that blew aggy's doors off.

We can talk about advanced, season-compiling metrics all you want. It's college football and teams aren't static. In four P4 CCG games yesterday three underdogs won outright.

No one this season is particularly elite and there are about 15 teams that can punch you in the mouth and fuck your day up if you aren't careful. Clemson and SMU are absolutely two of them.

Texas and PSU being at home is yuge for both teams and again - I expect it to go chalk - but I won't be surprised if either game turns into a legit contest.

Penn State has played two games all season against teams more talented and faster than SMU and they lost both of them.

Texas has played two games all season against a team demonstrably better than Clemson and lost both.

🤷‍♂️

The Texas defense will assfuck Clemson with no lube. It will be a 3 score game. I get that you like the ponies, but you dont need to hype the ACC. It's a bad conference. Maybe SMU beats PSU, they are much more gettable than Texas, but there aint no way in hell Clemson is walking out of Austin with a W.

They're very similar teams and I still think SMU is probably better.

SMU outgained them by a lot and per SP+ Clemson only had a 30.1% win expectancy. Essentially, SMU outplayed them but lost the game. But this is just another reason why I think Clemson is very mediocre.

I'm not hyping the ACC I'm making objective takes about specific football teams. You can go check the rankings thread where I was shitting on Miami for weeks.

Again - Texas is not playing Stanford. Texas is playing a good football team. It doesn't matter what the stitches on their collar spell.

Texas - at home - should handle them with little drama but I want to see it happen.

Personally I'm glad it isn't SMU/Texas because I don't think my heart could take it.

I barely survived yesterday and we were only playing back to back against different opponents.
