Well peoples personal preference is not a valid reason to not reseed

Yes, it is. This is a TV product designed to make money. If the product bores people to death, then that's a problem.

Question that I have not found an answer to.

Do we know what sides of the brackets feed into the Orange and Cotton bowls for the semis?

Im in a wedding in Manila that weekend, and Friday 8am game works better than a Saturday 8am game.

If Texas makes it to semifinals and their game is in Jerryworld it will be great as I already have tickets as my wife (no pics) is performing in the pregame with the Rangerettes as it is the 75th anniversary of the Rangerettes performing in the Cotton Bowl.

Anyone new to Texas should read up on these Ladies and their history

I believe the highest seed in the semis has first choice of venue. So if it's Oregon we'll probably be playing in Florida

Well the 5 hole is where you wanna be.  Lines up good for us.

It is. But clemson is still very talented and well coached. And as I said in the Big 12 game thread I wanted no part of AZ St. even if we’re better that QB/RB duo is fucking obscene and has been on fire the last month. (But lucked out it’s the Peach and not a home game in Fiesta for them).   It will not be an easy path.  Especially since we’ll have to play Oregon who is good enough defensively and MUCH better offensively than anyone we’ve played this year.

Honestly the 6 seed might have been better. And overmatched SMU team.  Then Boise who isn’t all that great and if you shut down the run there pedestrian.  Then a Georgia team(if they make it) that I feel we can beat with a bit better offense.

oh well. Our path is doable. If we lose to Clemson at home or AZ St in Atlanta we don’t deserve to be in the semis anyways.

It’s the Cotton Bowl because it’s set already.

This has been repeated 50 times already.

Don’t think that is right.

I'm still shocked they put SMU in over Alabama.

I think Notre Dame is the 5th best team in the country after Oregon, Georgia, us, and Ohio St so the Clemson and ASU route to the semis looks better than if we won yesterday.

If we can't beat Clemson and ASU we didn't deserve to be there and it will be a massive underachievement. We have major talent and depth advantages over both, especially on the lines.

Oh well, heard that this week from Bobby Burton so blame him.

I'd rather play in the Orange bowl. I hate that fucking place.

And they can't let it penalize you, otherwise those fascinating and very profitable games will go away eventually.

It should not be absolute. There are disparate schedules in conference play. A reasonable mind would ask what would PSU’s record have been if they played Oregon, OSU, and Indiana in the regular season similar to OSU? PSU only played 1 of the top 4 teams and lost at home. It’s not like teams in conference games did not move up and down. It’s one thing to try and limit the downside to conference games, it’s another to be blinded by a rule

6th seed was best seed in the playoffs.

SMU who couldn't beat Cade Klubnick then Boise St. Then a Georgia team that doesn't have their punter and a QB with a messed up throwing arm or ND. Not having to play Oregon, Ohio State, or Texas until the finals.

Gross, that would be the worst possible thing to do. I'm sure it will someday be at least considered, but if I wanted to watch the NFL I would watch the NFL.

I’m not saying I like it, I’m saying that’s where that particular argument leads. I would hate it, but CFB isn’t the CFB any of us have known and it’s only going to trend more toward the NFL than traditional CFB.

I agree. and if you can't beat NIU at home you don't deserve to be there.

Calm and detached pregame Dvoracek:  "Texas is a great program with amazing players and a great tradition."

4th-Quarter, one-score-game Dusty:  "OH MY GOD THAT SHOULD BE A PENALTY ON TEXAS!!!!  THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!  THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!! FUCK THIS FUCKING PROGRAM!!!"

I thought OSU got screwed. I don’t get PSU above them

score more than 10 points at home against michigan

they were punished for the same transgression as bama but they got in with only 2 losses

day was conciliatory in his segment

fair enough

Again, Nick, when you lose by 21 to a 5-5 team, you open yourself up to being out in a subjective system.

This is the shit that has driven me crazy when people have been stumping for all of the 2-3 loss sec teams the last few weeks. It’s all strength of schedule and best wins. But they all want to completely ignore the losses. Bama has 3 losses, 2 of them are terrible losses. Losing to vandy and a garbage ou teams isn’t the sec gauntlet. Those are just flat out bad losses.

Bama got a free bad loss, to Vandy. Then it list 2 more games.

Assume it's been said a bunch of times itt, but get past Clemson and ASU will result in Texas getting a whole bunch of experience playing in Mercedez Benz if they can make it all the way to the Championship.

Using my ratings (homefield advantage considered for first round games - I used a slightly inflated figure of 3.5 points because the crowds should be rocking and weather impacts on cross-sectional games, totally ad hoc but they're my ratings so there)

Those P(SF) values being highest for Texas and Penn State are what people are angry about (and probably should be). Using my compromise where the Top 4 conference champs are only guaranteed at least a home game it makes things seem more "fair" while still incentivizing conference championships:
