I absolutely would have rather had SMU/Boise.  IMO, they should have been reversed with Clemson/ASU. Clemson beat SMU and I think ASU is better than Boise. Clemson is playing with house money and get the warmer weather site for the playoff game. Clemson will have talent and more big bodies than SMU would have.

Ant, Simmons, Moore need to eat.

Agreed.  Was hoping it would be SMU and Boise.

not that Clemson and ASU should be too hard.  They won’t be easy.

Personally I'm glad it isn't SMU/Texas because I don't think my heart could take it.

I barely survived yesterday and we were only playing back to back against different opponents.

Man I think SMU is fucking dangerous and PSU better not fuck around…

I’m just glad the sec media got what it deserved talking shit about Texas schedule all year. They said we had an easy schedule so much that the committee was , Alabama played in that same conference and lost to teams that Texas horse whipped. Bit them in the ass at the end. Dumb fuck sec media didnt even know it talking all that shit.

I like my team a lot but that place is a motherfucker to go into esp. in December.

Thankfully it's a noon game.

Clemson gave us a taste of big-boy football and I think it will help prepare us and hopefully not get off to as horrific of a start.

Eh, I've got 4 fanbases worse than UGa in the conference: aggy, corndog aggy, arkie, and tennessee.  At least UGa fans root for a program that's relevant.

There is a physiologic clutch response, for lack of a better term. Certain individuals in high stress situations (not just athletic competition) react differently. Heart rate slows down, reaction time speeds up. Microlevel instantaneous release of testosterone into bloodstream (in males and females) has been measured though it is unknown if it is causative. Probably has to do with epinephrine and norepinephrine receptors in the brain and periphery as well

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and biofeedback can help an individual improve theirs.

Yea I don’t think CJ Vogel has this data on Klubnik and he has won a single big game in college.

I don’t know if klubnik has it. I doubt I’ve seen him for 5 plays total. My post was in response to the implication that “gamers” don’t exist. Maybe I misread the post though

Cade Klubnik is a good QB. I’ve been watching him since 7th grade. He’s had a very good year, but he sometimes tries to do too much - lunge when he should slide, try to pass the ball when he is falling down, etc. He is very competitive and trash talks other fanbases, etc. Clemson has a very mid receiving pool. We should win, but that’s why they play the game.

Having a weekly playoff show really pigeonholes the committee.  If they just had one season ending show they could have done whatever they wanted. They could say "We had SMU as the 17th ranked team and they don't get in". But because they stated the week before they they won't punish losers this week and they already placed SMU and IU effectively in,  they had no choice but to stick to them.

With that all said,  fuck you nick for your terrible takes today. Don't lose to OU by 21 and your non conference was shit.

This is the shit that has driven me crazy when people have been stumping for all of the 2-3 loss sec teams the last few weeks. It’s all strength of schedule and best wins. But they all want to completely ignore the losses. Bama has 3 losses, 2 of them are terrible losses. Losing to vandy and a garbage ou teams isn’t the sec gauntlet. Those are just flat out bad losses.

Bama got a free bad loss, to Vandy. Then it list 2 more games.

Try Strength of Record.  Bama was 11, SMU 15, Arizona St. 13 and Clemson 20.

SMU would have lost more games with Alabama's schedule.

The old Pac 12 contracts aren't expired.  Colorado is the "Pac 12 representative."

They didn't have time to redo all the bowl deals.

I think Clemson is very mediocre.

They wouldn't even have sniffed the playoffs if not for winning the worst power conference in the country. They're a 3 loss team that was a couple plays away from having 5 losses in the worst power conference.

They don't suck but they aren't a playoff-caliber team. Almost every advanced metric has Clemson and A&M ranked next to each other. That's about who they are as a team.

I've got a Clemson friend who expects us to win easily.  And if somehow Clemson does win, he's not planning on going to the Peach Bowl because he doesn't think Clemson can win 2 in a row against this competition.  He's been watching them all season and doesn't really believe they belong (except that they managed to win the ACC).

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, Gentlemen ... look at the way they hold the microphones.

The one on the far left is holding it in a very tentative manner. And the look on her face says, "I really, really DON'T want to put that thing in my mouth. I am relatively cute so I really shouldn't have to.!

The one on the far right is holding it loosely with her second hand about to come up to assist.  She has a resigned look on her face that says, "Ok, I will do this but it is NOT my favorite thing to do."

The one in the middle has a firm, confident grip on it. She knows what she is doing. Her face says, "Yes, I dig this too! I am about to rock your world!"

Read the clues boys and you will rarely go wrong!

Not me. I love a nice trimmed landing strip or triangle. Really ties the room together. Hell, girl I dated at UT had a full on beaver and I loved that too. Born in ‘89.

Alabama knows it's not their out of conference games that people are harping on? It's the 3 losses in the SEC that kept them out. But go ahead and "reevaluate" your ooc schedule.  Just don't lose to .500 teams in conference.

We had several wins against teams that were top 25 at the time we played them at least.

Michigan, OU, Vanderbilt, and A&M.

There have been issues for decades. The best team is supposed to win.

If you want conf championships to "mean something" and you want teams to keep scheduling hard schedules then reseeding solves this. You give #12 a chance but because they play such a weak schedule they're going to have to play the best team at every round.

For the team that has a killer schedule and goes 12-0 it is a reward at every round.

This makes no sense.  there is no issue with the NCAA tourrnament.  conf champ means you get an auto bid.  that is their reward.  the killer schedule team 12-0 gets to play 16, 8/9, and so on.  they get to play a team that is ranked lower than them every round.  that is their reward.

It isn't a bracket if you reseed.  It is just randomly choosing games every 10 days.  what a disaster that would be with a committee.  do it once and the chips fall.

to be honest once you get to 9 conf games and only 3 are OOC then I don't really care as long as all 3 are FBS.  I'd actually prefer 10 conf games and 2 OOC with the new 16 team conferences.

Absolutely. They beat OU, they are in.

I am not sure why, beyond their essential Bama-ness, that would be hard for them to understand.

It almost backfired but Georgia treated this game as a game to rest players.

They didn't play their LT Earnest Greene, their best offensive weapon in Etienne, and sat a couple key contributors on D that also played against Texas. Georgia had zero respect for Georgia Tech.

Like I said, it almost backfired but it worked.

So you're saying that Georgia...

Again, all those easy not top 25 teams we beat have wins against Ole Miss (x2), Alabama (x2), Tennessee, Missouri (lol they're #19), and Ohio State.

Hey, does anyone have a link to the playoff matchups? All I am getting is non-stop coverage of the Aggy's SRS Distribution Bowl against USC. ESPN has devoted all morning to it. Saban just said 'he's more excited about this game than the championship game.'

The argument is so stupid.  If literally nothing else changed this season except aggy scoring in the 3OT vs Auburn, we would have a ranked win.

Also, the premise is flawed.  If we beat Georgia in October but then turned around and lost to Arkansas, would that make us a better team?  A lot of people on the internet seem to think so!

The issue with giving conference champs a bye is it can dilute the better seeds and push down better teams into the 7-10 range, which is why people are griping about Oregon’s draw.

I agree with Huck’s approach that the top 4 conference winners should be guaranteed a top 8 seed (and at least hosting a home game) but nothing beyond that. So you’d have Boise the 7 (maybe better, can’t remember where they were ranked before this week) and AZ State the 8.

Let’s say there’s a year where Oregon and Michigan both go 12-0 (don’t play each other) and then play in the Big 10 title game. Why should the loser be the 5 seed?

Posted

Here are my thoughts. Why not have a 24 team playoff?

  • No CCG.
  • All conference play the same number of conference games (8 or 10).
  • 13 game regular season, if there are 10 conference games.
  • Eight top seeds get bye regardless of conference.
  • First two games are at higher seeds.
  • Agreed upon computer models make seedings.
