This always cracks me up.

Oh my god, someone call up Sark and make sure the coaches and players aren't looking ahead just because the fans, who aren't playing or doing game prep, might be!

It always cracks me up when simple minds infer too much into a statement. Nowhere did I imply fan stupidly had any correlation to player mindset.

You said that the fans are looking ahead, so you hope the team Isn’t. As if what we do has any correlation to how they perform. Minus when I wear my Burnt Orange hoodies

Again, for the smooth brains, there are certain factors which cause fans to formulate these opinions. Those same factors could influence the players, none of which come from the fans.

Two separate groups influenced by the same things, without any direct influence on one another’s thoughts. The fan is not saying, “I’m overconfident because the team is overconfident” and the team isn’t thinking they are overconfident because the fans are, but both could have the same mindset.

You made one of the dumbest fucking posts on this site in quite some time, and that is really saying something.

I’m not the first to say this, but I do think Clemson being the opponent instead of SMU will help with focus(ness). Our guys came of age when Clemson was a machine, and I do think that means something.

Under the current team leadership, I'm not worried about this team overlooking anyone. May help a bit that it's ASU waiting on the other side too, but we've jumped out to a lead in virtually every game the past two years. I can't remember the last time that I thought the team looked flat because of the opponent (not counting games where they're obviously up for it and just shit the bed like OU/OU/UW/Georgia).

UW is a tough one to lump in here bc Penix played the best game of his life against us, and we still had a chance with the final play. We’re going to be ready and I expect being able to rush for 150+ yds against Clemson. We got this

Up until Sat I had the utmost faith in PK but that gameplan reminded me of 2022.

I am worried about Clemson using the Georgia QB run gameplan against us because of how we played it and it working.

There is a difference between playing against an offense to which you have no film on while making shit up on the fly, and being ready for a QB run-heavy offense. Mobile QBs haven't had any real success against this defense.

I am hoping Cade Klubik's homecoming will work in our favor in one regard. He has a tendency to revert to hero ball when pressured, and it has mostly worked against him at Clemson. He will hopefully force some passes that shouldn't be thrown, try to hit the big scramble instead of sliding, etc, and we can force key turnovers.

Box score says Stockton went 8 att for 8 yards.

I see 2 sacks for a total of -18 yards

that puts him at 6 carries for 26 yards. Not a killer. Poor situational awareness was the issue on the 3rd down. Texas has fared well vs mobile QBs.

The Texas offenses struggles are the only issue keeping me from saying Texas rolls.

I agree but that was a dumb ass gameplan. We made no adjustment. If it were me as soon as they went empty I would check to a 3 man front and drop a DE to LB depth. Should've adjusted after the second time they ran him.

He converted multiple times. Considering the situation that was awful. They completely flipped TOP with his legs.

Myself and 20 others posters have bitched about that play. It was poor, but it also has not been a systemic issue for Texas. Reason it was so annoying was Texas played 2 mobile Qbs in the 3 prior games (Ark and A&M) and made the proper adjustments. No reason to doubt the defense at this point. It is possible Klubnik has the game of his life, but I am not betting against the defense. They have been consistent. The offense is a completely different discussion.

He converted 1 third down with his legs (3rd and 1). Bigger issue was big plays by Etienne (again) and a couple of big passing plays.

I just keep seeing experts overlooking how good Texas Defense is. Sure they fell asleep on a play or two, but i just don't see any non high octane offense blowing them out.

Only one team scored over 24 points this year on Texas(Vandy with a miracle last 2 minutes or so) and that was Georgia who needed 4 Turnovers and a bad punt/return to get shor tfeild to do it.

If texas can move up and down the field on Georgia i think think they can score enough to not worry about them matching the offensive output.

Fuck the NCAA

He's the same height and weight as Kern. Just put him in a Kern uniform and jersey and shave his mustache and who the fuck will know the difference. Just need to blow the flags every time he punts so it looks like wind.

Klubnik’s got way more film and tendencies to read than Gunner Stockton. He is also being heavily game planned for because they don’t have any other real threats.

He is far and away the head of the snake. They also have an average OL, I wouldn’t be super worried unless Ethan Burke or one of our LBs decide to keep jumping outside of their gap responsibility

I believe we are now in the post-season.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the preposition word post as subsequent to, later than; following, since. In other words, no longer in a given season.

Play him and dare the NCAA to do fuck all about it.

I know this isn’t the right place but someone mentioned people
Picking us to win against Clemson but lose against ASU. Is asu that good? I know they have that one RB but our defense is really good.

I'm really excited to see how we do against that RB. I don't think he has faced a defense a good as ours so it will be fun. I actually think we match up better against ASU. As you recall, we shut down a very good OSU RB last year.

This may have been talked about up thread but wanted to chime in after hearing some confusion on OTF about it.

The NCAA is heavily involved on in stadium experience for home games in the post season. I worked a few games at the FCS level and they limit everything from music on 3rd downs to how the PA announcer can do their job amongst other home game staples.

Be prepared for a stale environment that will be completely dependent on the crowd to produce noise.

I assume they won’t let us put Clemson’s band in the upper deck corner like we normally do.

They get to perform at halftime, so they will put the band in the lower bowl and relegate some fans to the upper deck.

The rules: Visiting teams will receive 3,500 tickets, with a maximum of 500 of those available to the band. The fans can be split up into no more than two blocks, with at least 1,500 in the lower bowl. The visiting team will decide where its band sits, but it must have access to the field.

The lack of Arch usage boils down to 3 possibilities:

1) Arch is not capable of giving our offense a spark.

2) Arch is capable of providing a spark, but Sark is too stupid to use him more.

3) Arch is capable, and Sark has been saving it for the playoffs.

I don’t think anyone on this board is brain-dead enough to think it’s 1, so it comes down to 2 or 3. I know there are people on here that think it’s 2, but I for one think (and hope) it’s 3. Sark has taken our program from being a complete joke to back-to-back playoff appearances in the span of 4 years, he gets paid more money than most of us will ever see to make smart decisions, AND he’s still widely respected by non-biased analysts as one of the best offensive minds in college football. I think it’s reasonable to have a little faith and count on us using Arch in a much larger capacity moving forward.

4. Sark is ultra stubborn when it comes to QB loyalty.

We have a pretty serious talent advantage, but Dabo's a good coach who's won a shitload of postseason games.

I'm hoping that by game time we will have gotten healthy enough over the two weeks to start breaking 30 points again.  Otherwise, I can definitely see this being one of the 20-10 sweatfests that we've specialized in lately.  And if we turn the ball over 2+ times, we could very easily lose it.

That said, I think Sark will have some wrinkles of his own and we're just a lot better group by group.  This really should be a W.
