3 of the last 4 games we scored 20, 17, and 16 in regulation.

That's just fucking unacceptable with the skill on this offense and the talent on the line.

And 3 total points in our last four 3rd quarters. Is there a way to bet on how many points we'll score in the third quarter against Clemson? If so, is it an over/under of 1?

Pending any unfortunate breaking news at the Sarkonference tomorrow, Ewers has finally made it out of a game without any new injuries.
Give him two weeks to further heal from his injuries and he may look even better against Clemson than he did yesterday.
Which was a better performance than weeks prior.

Mrs. C-Man is a Clemson grad and a pretty big football fan. This matchup is, um, interesting to say the least in our household. She’s just happy that Clemson is in after losing to South Carolina.

I can hope he's fully healed in two weeks, but I wonder if Sark is second guessing not letting Arch duel with Georgia's backup QB? I know I am, but then again I'm not getting paid millions to coach football.

We may beat Clemson. But I bet AZ St puts at least 21 on the board. And Oregon closer to 30.

offense will have to unfuck itself.

I will say he was better than the previous 2 weeks for sure.  So maybe he’ll be good enough with this defense to get us to at least the Oregon game.

2 interceptions and 1 fumble. Sounds very familiar.  We aren’t beating Clemson with three turnovers

The last time Quinn Ewers and Cade Klubnik faced off… it was in the Texas HS State Championship 👀
Cade Klubnik’s team came out on top.

Stats:
Quinn Ewers:
• 23/39
• 351 Yards
• 3 TDs
• 2 INTs, 1 fumble

Cade Klubnik:
• 18/20
• 220 Pass Yds
• 97 Rush Yds
• 1 TD pic.twitter.com/bQToQJfqPi

To be fair, a missing stat in that post:  "The Chaps averaged 7.9 yards per carry, compared to 2.1 for Carroll". I didn't see the game, so have no qualitative input to add.

Texas HS Football: No. 4 Westlake takes down No. 10 Southlake Carroll - 6A Division I title

So, do we know if TNT is going to have any pregame shows or activities maybe simulcasting ESPN?  Otherwise, are we seeing a “Friends” or “NCIS: New Orleans” marathon leading into the game?

As usual. Our defense will give us the chance to win.  On paper we should roll

But Dak Prescott at qb our offense has done next to zero over the last few weeks and clemson has a decent d line

You keep making this comparison….college Dak puts up 35+ yesterday

According to BCFToys,

Clemson's offense (adjusted for comp) is between UGA's and A&M's.  So, a decent shot Texas can hold them below 15.

Texas has the best defense (statistically) Clemson has faced.  Clemson put up 3 on UGA and 14 on South Carolina, the two next best defenses they faced.

So, matchups aside, it's hard to see Clemson putting up more than 15-20, assuming we force them to drive the field.  Knock on wood.

Clemson's defense (adjusted) is between just above Florida's, below Michigan, UGA, OU.  Texas scored 49, 34, 31, 16, 15 in those games.

The Texas offense ranks in the middle of UGA, Louisville, and SMU, who scored 34, 33, 31 on Clemson.

Obviously there's a lot of variance on Texas' offensive output.  I think the big issue in these games is - can Texas run the ball and protect the ball?  If so, then on paper, the team has much better shot at getting to 30

(at least against every team except UGA, Notre Dame and Ohio State).

I understand the tension. My wife and her entire family are lifelong Dawg fans. Nothing makes them happier than a UGA win over whoever they're playing. I watched both of this season's Texas losses from another part of the house. Yesterday's game wasn't even mentioned until 9 a.m. today, and then only briefly. It's serious bidness.

I figured ND and OSU would be the biggest issues other than Oregon.

glad they’re on the other side.

He’s Miss St wasn’t as deep or talented as the teams they played. It was Dak and one other draft pick on that team I believe.

2016 Dak on this team against a Georgia team who’s had trouble stopping physical running QBs?  Yeah. They dog stomp them.

According to Winspedia, Texas and Clemson have never faced off in football.

I looked that up earlier today as well and was surprised to discover this.  Seems like Texas and Clemson would have played each other at some point in a random bowl game or some home-and-home back in 19-whatever.  I find it weirdly fascinating when I see matchup of two teams that, despite college football having been played for 120+ years at this point, have never faced each other.  This was also the case yesterday with Arizona State and Iowa State before the Big XII title game.

I get it. But one thing that has been consistent this year is the defense.

"Gamer" - dude has lost plenty of games of varying importance, he just still gets sucked off by the TXHSFB honks.

Minnesota - VaTech in the Mayo Bowl is another one, as well as almost every Cal and Stanford conference game.

Arch was not going to do shit against Georgia either.

If you can’t run the ball even fucking John Elway in his prime wouldn’t do shit either.

Sagarin predictor has been a decent proxy for setting initial lines.  Using that and a 3-pt home-field benefit, Sagarin predicts (to the nearest 1/2 point)
Texas: -11.5
UND: -11
tOSU: -7.5
PSU: -6

Texas and tOSU lines are reasonable, if you trust the predictor.
PSU getting 2 more points because of shitty weather.
UND derate makes little sense, other than (1) Mark Cuban dropping huge $$ on Indiana (doubt) or (2) uncertainty about how good either of these teams really are.

That may be so, but I would have liked to give it a try.

I checked the roster and saw him, but the fact he isn't getting a shot this year tells me Sark/Banks think Bert is the one to roll with?

Sideshow has made some clutch FG's in the past, but he's been wildly inconsistent at times including this season, but this is the first game it's come back to bite us again. Of course he wasn't the only one to blame (plenty to go around) but making all his kicks yesterday greatly changes the game.

Yeah, we win.

PK handled Garrett Riley’s 2022 TCU offense better than anyone except Georgia. This Clemson offense seems pretty similar personnel-wise, but with less production and experience at WR. Should be fun (as long as we can run the ball again).

It hasn’t. I would think. He tried yesterday and couldn’t. He has 2 more weeks to heal.

Bond on the other hand, keep him out till the cotton bowl.

Yea heard the commentators pregame saying he tried to go, that gave me hope for the next game. Get some bubble wrap for the big fella.

I don’t understand how Penn St and ND don’t have higher spread overs SMU and Indiana?

and Texas should be closer.   This is a 17-10 type game unless the offense unfucks itself.

I’ll bet you $500 that we win by at least 8 AND that there are at least 28 total points scored…

Even crazier:

This is the furthest west Clemson has played in December, following a conference championship game against SMU, for a chance to get to the CFP quarterfinal...

ever.

Unsurprisingly I saw him looking lost several times but he did better when he was just firing out man on man. Hell of a time for a first start.

I know Texas has a tendency to piss down their own leg but I feel people thinking the 10.5 line is crazy haven’t watched Clemson this year. They’re like 2 plays away from being a 5 loss team.

Georgia, a team we just took to OT, beat them 34-3.  Gave up 30+ to 3 unranked teams.
