Assad was toppled, Trump is sad

I try keep up to date with things but this was not on my radar and is easily the best news of the year, Arab Spring brought so much hope for humanity I honestly felt in 2011 that democracy was unstoppable and then Trump/Assad/Ayotollahs/Putin/Netanyahu all perveted Democracy to the point of creating an dictatorial blueprint immune to massive protests, well the second domino fell (After the first fell and was idiotically reinstated).

Of course Oompa loompa big scared.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said that Russia's abandonment of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad led to his downfall, adding Moscow never should have protected him in the first place and then lost interest because of a war in Ukraine that never should have started.

Yeah Trump don't anything but golf for 4 years, you destroyed the justice system, but that is not the worst case scenario yet.

the continued crazy assertion that Ukraine started that war just blows my mind. it's so blatant and over the top it's almost comical. almost.

It’s just historically inaccurate.  Plain and simple.

Trump Monday morning quarter backing every foreign policy decision …. Even his own…. And claiming he would have done better is the shit you hear some local sad divorced drunk say at a dive bar every Wednesday.

I think this is a really interesting situation. This could result in northern Syria becoming a new Kurdish state. Israel may move to take more land beyond the Golan Heights, and/or the rebels can try to create a new Syrian government over whatever is left.

We also may see the new government fight back against those advances and create more turmoil in the ME. Israel would likely welcome the fight, as they could easily pick apart whatever is left of the Syrian military. They pushed towards Damascus easily the last time they tried, but now there won't be anyone to really put the brakes on Bibi's plans. Trump certainly isn't going to tell him to stop, or halt weapons sales and deliveries, so the IDF should be well armed no matter what happens.

Technically he is correct.  There wouldn't have been a war if Ukraine didn't resist the invasion.

Bolded is already happening. They are calling it a "buffer zone".
