Texas 2025 Roster

BurntOrange&White

Recommended Posts

So what’s the roster looking like next year. Defense better or the same? Offense better or the same but please not possibly worse.

No way it’s better . This defense was nearly 05 level. There would be a chance if we didn’t lose so much in the secondary.

Maybe if Arch is who we think he is then that’s all that matters if the defense can be good. Doesn’t have to be great like this year but good if arch can make the offense go.

I’m hoping Arch can mitigate some of the downgrade/inexperience on the o line with his running ability.

Y’all are still upset from last night and I get it but this team will be top 7 in talent next season and probably top 5.

yes their will be a lot of inexperience but talent wise this team may be better. Y’all can sit here all day and say oh this defense won’t be anything close, and while it may not, no one seen this defense playing like this after the Washington game.

imo if Campbell and maybe Williams comes back (they both should) I think it’s potential we may have a better offense, but we have to play better on the O-Line. Banks will be missed dearly, but Conner and and Majors aren’t as talented with that we have behind them Cruz, Neto, Hutson, etc but they will lack experience. I think WR will be this years DT, why can’t French and Lockett come in and do what Smith did from Ohio State? Plus you add Wingo, Moore and Butler, and maybe Livingston, I think we’ll be fine. Baxter. Gibson. Wisner, Clark all in the backfield, (idk about Blue). TE and O-Line are the positions imo that will take a step back. But talent wise with Washington, Niblack and Townsend I think even the TE room will have a higher ceiling.

offensive wise I think we’ll be better and only improve going through the season

I think this is true regarding talent. The floor for next year is Ole Miss/Bama this year and our ceiling is playoffs.

Our most difficult games.

Ohio state- loses a lot, we have a better chance of beating them than last night. Who’s their qb?

Georgia- at UGA. They were beatable this year just not by us.

Florida- at Florida but Napier is their coach so who knows how they are playing when we go down there.

OU- rivalry. How much can their qb go Dillon Gabriel?

Aggy- rivalry but in Austin. We should win.

Defensively

the interior is the one position imo not sure about. Not because I don’t think they can be better but we have no one with time coming back. Y’all can say what you want but I wish Big Sydir stayed. Only interior players coming back are Hills and January, which both could be good but as of now big question marks. Everywhere else I defense imo are players with just no experience

DE should be a strength. Simmons might be the best player on the team next season and possibly a Hendricks award finalist. You also have Burke, Vasek, Jackson (Fresh). I would hope Moore would come back, (seems like he got better as the year went on) think he can improve his numbers but even if he doesn’t think we should find someone in the portal.

LB should also be a strength, Hill possible is the best LB in the conference and country next season, has to be a leader and would love him to lead this defense and play with his physicality. Lefau, Smith and Barnes (incoming) , LB should definitely be a strength.
I will say this Gbenda wasn’t the most talented but he showed what the culture is!! Will Miss his heart out there. He went out on top last night.

Secondary will be a mystery, more so safety. Idk what Taaffe will do,  but I didn’t see draft grades for him (which is crazy) but would love to get Taaffe back. Mukuba will be dearly missed man! What a fucking player. Between him and golden best portal pick ups. If Taaffe doesn’t come back we have Williams , McDonald and as the only players with time. I hope Filsaime and Rubell takes that next step. I think Johnna Williams can be special if Taaffe comes back that would be major! If not I think this is the position group that takes a major step back.

corner back, for this group to make the turnaround it did major props to the coaches. Barron is a dog and will be missed. Muhammad has to be that shutdown we feel like he can be. Heard nothing but good things about Black and Wilson coming back next season so hopefully one of them step up to take the opportunity opposite of Manny. But Manny has to be better than wat we seen towards the end. This is another position group I think may take a step back but that’s not necessarily a bad thing with how high of a level they played this season.  One change I’d like to see is a battle at NB. Let Gilbeaux and Wardell Mack battle it out in the spring and fall camp. Gilbeaux was a liability imo and even if he doesn’t start that creates quality depth.

defense will be good, idk if they’re great due to inexperience but they will have talent to be. I think the coaches this year proved they can coach and develop so let’s hope for the defense sake this stays true.

Per IT:

-Golden and Bond are NFL bound

-Trey Moore is likely to declare but they aren’t putting it in stone yet because they think Texas might be able to NIL him like Whittington a few years ago when he was leaning going pro

-Taaffe undecided but they lean towards him returning

If we get Moore and Taaffe back that is Fucking Major!!! I think both could improve their stock also. Moore seemed to be getting better as the year went on most likely adjusting to the speed and physical play

Thx for update.  Mukuba and Jahdae were glue pieces in our secondary -- hope Horns add at least one experienced DB from the portal this off-season along with possible return of Taaffe...

I like Moore but with what we have returning and coming in at edge, I wouldn't break the bank here.

Still disappointed Texas O-line can't get enough push to score a TD from 1yd line.

  • Sark & Flood must figure OL struggles out and hopefully add at least 1 good experienced IOL
  • Would be great to add a power RB for short yardage situations.
  • Add at least 1 experienced DB plus bring Taaffe back if possible.
  • Add a productive TD scoring threat at WR

- Yes we have to figure the O-Line out. You hate it happen last night but one things we’ve seen from Sark is once he see an issue he usually addresses it. hopefully that’s true with O-Line and redzone

- I believe we have two that can be the power back role. Gibson and Clark. Dont let last night fool you, Gibson was a plus in short yardage gains

- I would love to add a DB (Mukuba caliber) and bring Taaffe. Williams has to stay healthy

- I honestly think we will have an explosive WR room next year. Wingo has to get better at contested catching but I think Arch will also be a better QB to get him the ball deep (no shade at Ewers) which is Wingos strength, so I’m not really up in arms about adding WR’s. Would love a speed guy though, maybe Evans from UGA.

Damn I though Moore was likely to come back. He really hit his stride second half of the season, really hope he returns.

Are disappointed they couldn’t get the push or weren’t given the opportunity?

Tough for him to stay. Simmons has passed him up, so he would not start next year. Edge is set. 1st off Colin Simmons is a freak. He was on a field where there were supposedly 21 players going in the top 3 rounds in this year’s draft and was the biggest bad ass on the field. Burke and Vasek will battle for the other starting spot. Good to see Vasek playing and making a play. Got some young talent that will have to step to back-up Simmons.

maybe i'm dumb, but is blue really being projected as a draft prospect?

Keilan Robinson somehow got drafted in the 5th round last year.  Blue is just as fast, much bigger and has had way more college production than Robinson, so I would say he should at least be a 5th rounder.

Special teams factored into that also. K Rob was a great special teams player.  Blue doesn’t play on coverage teams. Having versatility is huge for late draft picks.

I believe Baker will make a tall rangy guy like Vasek a household name next season. I see ln glimpses last spring , with another year in the S&C I believe Vasek could be another Vernon Broughton production wise .

I don’t want to jinx it, but Vasek needs to find a way to stay healthy. Do that and I agree with you. As the saying goes, “that best ability is availability”.

probably should be acknowledged, but there is a damn good argument that Baker was the best position coach in the team

Ask yourself how many RBs you have seen with the ability to run for 38 and 77 yards in a single game angainst a playoff caliber team. And also score on 18 yard and 26 yard reception against the potential national championship.  He wasn’t just open.

You can teach ball protection better than those traits.

Hes got some flags.  There’s also a reason Sark kept him after the chaotic end to his high school career.

Hill is flat out terrible in coverage, maybe worse than terrible, he's still getting praise because of the Bama game last year.

For those that know, what are we expecting Michael Terry to play? Can it be RB? He is huge!

I've read that the current plan is to line him up all over the place, including RB. A guy that big and strong who can catch like a WR could be a really interesting weapon out of the backfield.

Doesn’t Baker only coach DTs? I don’t see Vasek moving inside.

I’ve heard he’s a pass rush specialist, didn’t specifi a position. If I remember correctly just d-line as a whole

I believe this is correct. Baker works on the pass rusher with the whole DL, but hard to know unless you are in practice

My wife's family has had vacation property next door to Will Stone's family for years now.  Saw the Stone family over the break and asked Will when he was going to get a fair shake at taking FGs.  He just shook his head and said he didn't want to talk about it.

At least he got to try PATs vs. Ohio State.

better find some receivers who will at least attempt to fucking block, every receiver we have pussed out on blocks all year. For a coach that likes screens so much it was a major failure.

Watch Amon-Ra St Brown, Jameson Williams, and especially Tim Patrick block for Jahmyr Gibbs next weekend. Devastating and you are spot on.
