so some yokels who have internet access watched that hour long YouTube video and made a crop circle based off this equation?

My daughter and her boyfriend both have graduate degrees from Colorado School of Mines.  I met a bunch of their friends at his PhD grad party.  They are all huge math nerds who love being outdoors, and I would bet a lot of money that at least one of them will make a ridiculously elaborate hoax crop circle one day.

Crop circles are passe. They’re yesterday’s hoax and have gone the way of Sasquatch and the Loch Ness Monster

"conspiracy theorist" is now the msm/establishment term for "people who don't go along with the official story" regardless of the data or science

"conspiracy theorist" is also the term for mentally ill dumbasses who somehow followed a made-up internet persona that went by a single letter of the alphabet, that told them a certain politician would be executing his enemies on the steps of the Capitol, that school shootings don't happen or are staged, or that George W. Bush planted explosive in various buildings around the World Trade Center and then staged a false-flag operation blaming somebody in Afghanistan so that he could attack Iraq, or that we faked the moon landings, or that there was a non-existent basement in a D.C.-area pizzeria that was being used to traffic children, or that Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey were drinking the fluids of young trafficked children to stay young.

Any look at a photo of Hanks or Winfrey in the past 5-10 years shows that they are, in fact, aging normally.

As somebody who liked to look at conspiracy theories in the 90s (thanks Oliver Stone!), it went from the mostly harmless Art Bell crowd who needed their shitty lives to feel more like they were in a Hollywood movie so that they could feel alive, or the disgruntled boomers upset that JFK was killed and the American Camelot was destroyed leading us into Vietnam, to a bunch of fucking whackos being led by Alex Jones on Austin Public Access, to the 2010s and 2020s being gaslighted by a couple of people from fucking 4chan who were making money off of them and having lots of lulz.

So… back to the topic. The Pentagon did a press conference today acknowledging they are drones. Which raising the question, why not just shoot them down. Like now.

No, that didn’t happen, classic case of social media laundering things into what people want it to say.  Twitter is terrible for this because it’s all formerly UFO accounts now hyping drones.

The original briefing is here. The Q&A starts at about 22:40 on the NJ stuff. The spokesperson is very particular with her words and says several times that the Pentagon is aware of “drone sightings that have been reported” and then also states more than once that “this ACTIVITY” or “these sightings” are not U.S. or adversary drones and refers to lawenforcement to investigate.

She does actually say drones in this clip. Now to your point, there is a chance that she purposely made the reference to drones unclear, but that would be an epic level of word salad if so. I think that is very debatable

But more importantly, she leaves the very clear impression that there is “activity” going on that is being investigated by local law enforcement. She never once hints or indicates that it is a case of mistaking normal planes or helicopters for something else. Obviously some sightings are going to be false, but there seems to be an acknowledgement that there are unusual sightings happening at multiple locations.

My money says it's Trump private security near his course and they're not saying anything because they're letting the morons eat this shit up and then in February some family member will head up the Department of Drone Understanding and Monitoring for Federal Use and Classification or DUMFUC, and all the dumb fucks from the UFO thread will rejoice.

Even better.  Iran can't defend itself against Israel or keep Assad from falling, but it can sail a "mothership" all the way to the Atlantic seaboard and then launch dozens of drones at....*checks notes* New Jersey.

New Jersey lawmaker warns mystery drones may originate from Iranian mothership: 'Should be shot down' | Fox News

Quote

New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew said Wednesday that "very qualified" and "reliable" sources believe the mystery drones populating the Garden State's skies are originating from an Iranian "mothership" parked off the U.S. East Coast, a claim the Pentagon subsequently denied.

Quote

"Here is the real deal," the GOP lawmaker told Fox News' Harris Faulkner.

"I'm on the Transportation Committee, on the Aviation Subcommittee, and I've gotten to know people. And from very high sources, very qualified sources, very responsible sources. I'm going to tell you… Iran launched a mothership probably about a month ago that contains these drones. That mothership is off the east coast of the United States of America."

Was alluding to drones and Texan propensity to shoot first and then ask questions.

I'm also not a UFO believer, in that the "UFO" is extra-terrestrial.  We build a lot of cool shit that people have never seen before.

I'm completely confused by this entire thread. There are a bunch of nutty people claiming UFO's or aliens, or others claiming it's foreign government drones. None of those is likely, obviously.  But, there are many people on this thread claiming they aren't even drones and that all of the sightings are either just people mis-identifying planes and helicopters as drones, or conspiracy theorists. I'm not getting that from the dozen or so stories that have been running on neutral national news sources like PBS, ABC, NBC, BBC, etc.  I've just been assuming it's amatuer drone operators are flying drones near these facilities. It started happening in one place, and dipshits started doing it everywhere.  Is that not a reasonable scenario? Why are people jumping straight to misidentification or conspiracy theories.  I'm lost.  What am I missing?

Because if I can not tell whether it is a bird, a plane, or Superman it is a UFO.

Because this country is completely fucking broken and the vast majority of our population are dumb as fuck and have no ability to think critically.

So then you acknowledge that it may actually be drones flying near these facilities? And if so, why in the world wouldn’t the U.S. shoot some down?

Bc the local police and government are saying they don’t have answers. Weird drones… ok I can get… but they keep saying they don’t know what’s going on. Shit should have been nipped in the butt already

Why in the world would local governments have any answers? They can’t deal with drones. They have no tools to deal with drones, for the most part. They’ve just started deploying a few themselves in the last few years.

It’s the federal government that has the technology to evaluate drones and also shoot them down. The Federal government is ignoring this because it’s likely local amateur dipshits, and since local government is ill-equipped, this will keep happening until Chinese nationals start flying spy drones across and into facilities.

The whole thing is stupid. It’s just like the balloon. That damn thing should have been shot down in Alaska. We are such pussies.

I apologize, when I stated government I should have stated federal( the pentagon has commented they have no answers). Anyways, dipshits driving car sized drones over densely populated areas and they are ignoring it? Sounds like malpractice if that’s the case. Don’t think it’s aliens or anything, but there’s no reason this shit isn’t put to bed already

my magic 8-ball says it is a 98.75% chance that it is a US gov't agency flying these around, and it is classified (like the aliens in the basement at WrightPatt) so they aren't really going to say shit for the next 100+ years.
1.25% chance that is either aliens, Iran, China or some private contractor

i'm trying to game this out

if we are flying our own stuff over our own DoD sites - and in the UK in addition to the US

and then throwing up our hands "ermagherd drones are flying over our DoD sites"

the only purpose i can discern is to test the larger overall societal reaction to something:

? the concept of being surveilled from the sky ?

? the concept of UAPs cruising around everywhere ?

i'm not saying either of those explain what's going on

i'll also note that the NBC report showed a graphic asserting drone reports on the west coast and over 'nuclear' sites in the mountain west

take away the "ermagherd" part and us flying our own secret shit over our own DoD sites to test how well is works makes sense

so why make a big deal about it?

we've had UAP/UFO incursions over DoD sites for decades, both in the US and in the UK
