Stupid people in NJ look up at the night sky for the first time, believe every moving light is a drone

Would any of us here judge a teenager who got ahold of a drone that shoots 4k or even 1080p video and was flying it around the suburbs at night hoping to get a peek in a window?

I’m losing my fucking mind, this is a functioning person, a senator and Democrat. He describes perfectly the standard civil aviation lights on every aircraft and then announces that they are inexplainable.  He cites a flight tracking app, which of course isn’t always right and more importantly, unless you track flights seriously and have experience you likely don’t realize how far away you can see airplanes on a clear night.  Clinton Township is near some of the busiest airspace in the world and you should probably nearly always be able to spot a plane at night.

Any footage of these things that don’t include time, exact location, and direction is useless to try and look at.

Green and red lights: Aircraft flying toward you.

Red light: Port wing facing you.

Green light: Starboard wing facing you.

White light: Aircraft flying away from you.

We are so fucked as a country, just catastrophically stupid.

May got have mercy and never let these people anywhere near ocean waterways at night.

"I know these drones, they are very interesting, but this flight tracking computer thing, do you think you could use it to track the airplanes of wealthy university donors who might perchance be ferrying a potential college football coach around?"

Texas is retired from the flight tracking game. For now.

These drones cased Langely for 17 days, a US military base in Germany, chased a coast gaurd boat, and US and UK bases in the UK.  We haven't been able to do a thing about it, but we are assured its "not a threat."  Now, there are dozens and dozens of credible reports from people like police agencies, pilots, and emergency responders in New Jersey.  The governor and New Jersey senators are furious, the senate is damanding answers, and there are active discussions about shooting these down over US airspace. I also remind everyone that we shot down three highly advanced spy ballons.

So I get that everyone immediately connects this to UFOs and thinks its automatically stupid, but to suggest that everyone is misidentifying the entirely new phenomeon of planes landing is absurd.  I personally find the concept of swarms of drones, small planes, etc. flying unidentified over our territory for weeks as concering and potentially representative of an adversary thumbing a technological advancement in our face.  Ignoring warning signs and downplaying things is how ended up with 9/11.

@Aviation_Intel

Mailbox/DMs etc full of people asking why we are not reporting on the drone stuff considering we broke all this over many years.

We are!

But we have not been doing a play by play as the story has totally gone off the rails with reality and major news stories have developed elsewhere (Syria for instance).

The main stream media has no clue what they are talking about on this issue, none, and most outlets largely don't seem to care. Local officials are very poor sources in terms of quality info on this issue. This is not a dig on them at all, it's just there is not an in-house knowledge base there that understands it, just facets of it, not anywhere near a whole picture. This is a very complex issue with many technological facets. You don't just call in a 'drone guy' and get briefed. We have ran into this issue many times.

The U.S. gov messaging on this has been so absurdly poor and frankly dangerous, there is a story there we are working on, but that isn't all that surprising. This has been the way it has been for years, but at least the denials have finally evaporated.

Nearly every video I have seen has pointed to mass hysteria not a drone invasion of massive scale, with airliners, private jets, and helicopters being portrayed as mysterious objects. These videos are peddled for engagement by a growing number of online accounts. This is very unfortunate, because there does seem to be something going on here, but zero critical thought, even on a most basic level of the 'evidence' only fuels rumors and fear. It also clogs the channels for relevant evidence to break through. This is true on a public consumption and governmental/investigative level. It also puts aircraft in danger.

We often break this stuff but let others with far more resources run with the ball once it's out there. For years people didn't believe this was happening at all. So now we are here, exactly where I said we would end up.

We hopefully will be doing a roundup to get up to speed a bit but we are working on several unique angles to this story that aren't being covered. So stay tuned for that. I have a piece coming on something that needs to be said. But beware of the prevailing narrative and especially what you see portrayed on social media, this is now a hype train and everyone is jumping on, and many are doing so for the wrong reasons. I applaud those that are doing the opposite. And remember the government at all levels is not a reliable source for information on this topic. Scary, I know. It is what it is.

Thanks for reading as always!

It’s partly because those folks are not hanging out in the flight paths 24/7 and are not seeing what the UFO/Iranian drone conspiracy theorists are seeing and so they can’t easily explain it.  They are hedging their bets because they don’t want to declare it to be one thing and then somebody else prove it’s something else, because it’ll be thrown in their face, so they do the “we’re not sure” bit.  They can point out that it’s in a flight path and most likely a plane, but then somebody will provide video of their nephew using a drone with lights operating in the same area, and the nutters will go off on them and publicly accuse them of covering shit up or being incompetent.

But it’s also partly because the nutters are really loud and get a lot of attention and won’t let things go.

Most people also don’t understand how shitty most cell phones are at capturing moving lights in the sky at night,

And some of those public officials, from the local/county level up to the state level are milking this for various reasons.  Never let a public circus go to waste or something,

it’s not going to be a foreign adversary planning a 9/11-style attack, because doing this kind of stuff now kind of puts a spotlight on the activity, which is not what they’d want, and they sure as fuck wouldn’t be running drones with lights.  The feds can play dumb, but you know somebody is looking at it.  Any adversaries would be practicing this stuff in Bumfuckery, Pakistan or MiddleofNowhere, Afghanistan.

And it’s not a nation-state planning to attack us.

And if the UFO crowd wants to believe this is UFOs, then they are 100% responsible for proving it.  Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.  They don’t get to throw a shitty video out there and tell everybody else “prove this isn’t a UFO”, because it’s on them to prove it is a UFO,

Andy Kim revisits his comments and determines he was in fact looking at airplanes.

However he is big mad that the federal government is inadequately explaining to New Jerseyans that the airplanes that have been flying above them every day for decades and decades are still airplanes.

Please refer to the articles I referenced.  It's not just a bunch of soprano's rejects in New Jersey that are seeing these.

The Chinese balloon was absolutely anything but highly advanced, by design. You can see that it was made on the cheap from the picture that was shared.

Balloon technology is old as time, but its effective.  The survelience equipment itself was quite advanced.  We also know next to nothing about the balloon that was shot down in Alaska.

I generally agree with this.  But I don't think China (for example) is above thumbing its nose and making a point to an incoming Trump administration.  Just because we (civilians) don't know that X nation state has Y technology, doesn't mean that the US government doesn't know, and also doesn't mean that China doesn't know that the US government knows.  The US cannot afford another region in the world heating up, and I think it makes complete sense for the feds to downplay this publicly and deal with it privately if they thought it was China.

And I've yet to see anyone serious making "extrodinary claims".  It's more along the lines of "hey, there's shit over our airbase and impacting our sensitive military installations" and that it seems concerning that we seem powerless to do anything about it.  Yes there are nutjobs going on about it because they can pin it on Biden, but broken clocks are right twice a day and there is concerning substance here.

I've noticed that most of the people buying into this are right wingers and they're accusing Biden & Co of hiding things.  They don't seem to realize Trump has access to the same intel at this point as an incoming president.  Why doesn't he tell us what's going on?

This should be an entirely apoltical issue.  Can he legally release classified information from a presidential briefing as president elect?  I genuinely don't know.  He apparently put up a tweet that he thinks the US government knows what it is (which I tend to agree with).  To be clear, Trump can go fuck himself.

I think this is just a reflection of how stupid our general population is and how social media and those who desire it, can manipulate and shape what our general population thinks and hence what makes up our current “news”.

And yes, social media has made us all dumber.

Looks like society is getting shittier at a much faster rate than even a month ago. We had a good run, the DumbFuckening has begun.

I bet there's a lot of crossover between the drone fucktards and the "birds aren't real" loons.

Yes.  He can do anything he wants and as an incoming president, he has access to the same intel.

This is basically Trump saying "the government."  He is the government, at least after 1/20.

We are stupid, lightly-furred monkeys, and always have been.
This is just the latest iteration of medieval humans seeing a meteor shower and everyone panicking about flying demons and begging the local priest to do something about it.

The board is not ready to talk about what the decline of engagement with mainstream Protestant/Catholic services and educated clergy has done and continues to do to the average intellect.  Let’s just say the void isn’t getting filled with more enlightening and rational discourse and content.

If someone/thing was trying to do something nefarious with flying objects, why would they have safety lights turned on so anyone could see them?

I asked that very same question and the person that I was talking about said the ones we see are just a distraction from what is really happening. No answer to what was really happening. But the Biden admin knows.

If you spend time on the dumb side of the internet, people seem to believe that the government/new world order is going to fake an alien invasion, have the “aliens” explain there is no God, which will usher in the anti-Christ and end times. Alternately, the “aliens” will really be demons pretending to be aliens to carry out the same scam. This has strong potential to be the new QAnon.
