Yeah but nobody wants to claim ocon if they can help it

Wrong M. I was referring to Alonso, who started with Minardi. Ocon came up with Manor.

I'm a huge Lewis Hamilton fan (now).

He's always been a great dude (starting yesterday)!

I was basically the same way when Schumacher went to Ferrari but, my feelings were towards Ferrari and not Schummi (always loved him).

Couldn't agree more. He's the best #2 driver we could've hoped for!

Yeah Schumi was always one of my favorites so when he went to Ferrari it was like a dream come true for me. :)

But, I did have to hold my nose whilst rooting for Seb.

To be fair, Seb himself became more tolerable over the years, just as Lewis has, and maybe Max has, at least a little bit.  Maturity takes time and it's probably not easy to gain humility when you're making millions, banging models, and constantly being told you're the best.

Is Arch gonna be Red Bull's 2nd driver?  He signed a deal with them.

Lol, I was very confused for a second when I got that email.

I said in the Arch Manning thread in the football page that Arch and Max are now teammates!

They’re probably gonna be roommates too. Can’t wait for the color guy to mention it every game and every race. Happens every time.

This is great quote from Toto.

Toto on seeing Lewis in red colours: "Yeah, it's a little bit like you divorce amicably, and it's all good, and then you see your partner for the first time with a new friend.

My company has a prominent logo and is the AI provider for SF. Some amazing fan experience stuff to follow soon.

If given the decision between accessing the paddock at F1 or the clubhouse at the masters, my head would explode.

Scuderia Ferrari, I assume.

Indeed. I watched drive to survive so now I’m expert and throwing around acronyms. Lol. I never gave car racing much thought but now I’m obsessed.

At our 2025 company kickoff a VP appeared in Red Bull kit and was booed mightily in the chat window.

The Paddock in F1 is pretty incredible. Or at least it was in 2012 & 2013. I look at some of the pics I shot in the Paddock and it still seems surreal.

Not sure if access was restricted when you were there or not. Now you can only access the teams areas on one day and that is only if you buy the Legends ticket. You can have regular paddock access for less money, but no team area. You still get the track walk and pit walk, etc. legends ticket is around $11k for Austin

I think maybe you're talking about Paddock Club, where you have access to the suites in the Pit Building above the garages, but generally can't walk around in the Paddock on the ground between the garages and team buildings. Is that right?

I've never done Paddock Club upstairs in the suites, but I have had Paddock Passes with access on the ground in the Paddock (+ Pit Lane and Track access tabards) all weekend at COTA in 2012 & parts of 2013 & 2014. That was all thanks to the late Charlie Whiting through a friend of mine in 2012 & 2013, and Shell in 2014. I could never justify paying what it would cost for that. Hell, idk even know what it cost ... just that it's a LOT, if you can buy them at all. In 2012 & 2013 I was out in Pit Lane with team personnel, taking pics of the cars and drivers as they rolled into Parc Ferme after the race, and taking podium photos with the F1 photographers, which was pretty cool. I also won a Paddock Pass for MotoGP once from 101X, when Rossi and Hayden were still there. Very different atmosphere in the MotoGP Paddock, compared to F1. Good times.  /csb

Doohan v Colapinto ‘projection’ data reveals significant pace gap – report   https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/cycling/doohan-v-colapinto-projection-data-reveals-significant-pace-gap-report/ar-AA1yHjaa

Quote

‘With his engineers,’ reads the report, ‘Flavio made a detailed comparison of times between Franco and Jack in Abu Dhabi, the event in which the Australian made his debut, and between both rookies and their respective team-mates: Alexander Albon at Williams and Pierre Gasly at Alpine.’

Taking into account factors such as Colapinto’s Williams suffering damage when he was hit in the opening laps by Oscar Piastri before retiring the car on lap 26, the ‘valid lap times, after removing the influence of the the start and pit stops from the calculation, would be 17.

‘Briatore and his team have surely carefully observed the behaviour of both young people, the quality of their comments, the suggestions to improve the set-up and the mood in general. But in the end, the cars usually rule, of course. And in those 17 rounds, using the same compounds (medium-hards), Colapinto was faster than Doohan by 0.308 seconds on average.’

But conceding that the data was ‘not necessarily’ conclusive given the different cars and that Colapinto’s was damaged, it claims the ‘difference could have been even wider’ with Colapinto reportedly losing ‘two tenths per lap’ due to the crash damage.

Add in their team-mates’ times with Pierre Gasly in the sister Alpine faster than Alex Albon in the Williams, the ‘consistent difference in favour of Colapinto of between two and five-tenths over Doohan can be projected’.

Rooting for Ferrari is a lot like rooting for Texas football from 2010 - 2022.

Pretty much. Leclerc’s Sam Ehlinger in this scenario. Grew up loving the team and is hopelessly committed to them no matter how dysfunctional they are.

Everyone loves seb…..now.

The likeability is in inverse proportion to their dominance.  Couldn't stand Seb winning all the time, but he was easy to pull for at Ferrari because his success would go against Hamilton's dominance at Mercedes. Hamilton was so much easier to pull for the last couple of years as he went against the dominance of Max.

Welcome to the club. Great pain and misery awaits you.

Nah, I'm pulling for HAM/FER to help bring down RBR, but they don't have my heart.  McLaren and Williams are the teams I really want to see have success, but there's not currently a driver in the field I have a mancrush on and really want to see succeed.  I'll be happy to see HAM/FER win when it happens, but if they manage to Ferrari the fuck out of it, I'll still be amused in a how-the-hell? way.

As a massive Hamilton fan, I am now automatically a Ferrari fan. I hope he wins his 8th and helps Charles win one. Tires seem to have been Ferraris issue and Lewis is a tire whisperer. Should be a great match.

That used to be the case, but they fixed that last year and were probably the easiest on their tires of any team.

Agreed.  Strategy and pit stops also improved a ton.  Scuderia Ferrari!

Yes, hurry up f1 (watching Daytona 500 today for a bit for a slight dose of loud cars/racing).

A new era for my f1 fandom. Can’t wait to see Checo attempting the LeMans this year and jumping on the Cadillac team or whatever its gonna be, make them a fuck ton of money, do decent with the team, ride into the sunset leaving a solid foundation for next phase of Andretti’s team.

Been following Checo since a few years prior to 2011 when he then joined Sauber. It’s been a sick ride following him. What a bad ass for lasting that long in F1, fucking legend.

Eh. Well. FML. Possibly.

ESPN reportedly will not renew.  Looks to be between NBC and Netflix.  Similar to Sky a Netflix deal will likely bring more money but at the expense of number of viewers.  https://sports.yahoo.com/report-espn-tells-formula-1-it-wont-renew-its-us-tv-deal-at-the-end-of-2025-134636618.html

Also a piece in the Times that's glowing but minimized the fact F1 is still a pimple on Derka's ass in terms of ratings.  It also mentions Amazon potentially in the mix. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6129337/2025/02/12/f1-tv-rights-netflix-espn-amazon-streaming/?campaign=12624894&source=athletic_targeted_email&userId=12505127

How is the f1tv package? 🫠

It was ok when we got it in 2023, but it wasn't worth the extra money, really. But this deal could end our access to F1TV if whomever wins the rights also negotiates the rights to all the added content that comes on F1TV. That's already the case in some countries.
