9th & 10th for RedBull in Q2.. McLaren 1st &2nd. Gasly 3rd, Mercedes 4th & 5th.

Ferrari 6th & 8th.

McLaren is going to walk this one. They’re so strong on rear limited tracks. It’s crazy.

Then the question is, ‘do they let them race?’.

I guess Lando decided to answer it for them. Terrible last lap by Lando. He’s just not very good under pressure.

What happened to Lewis? Did he get a time deleted or was he just off?

If Oscar wins this one wire-to-wire, and Mercedes manages to keep a car or two between the McLarens, it's going to make things really interesting moving forward. When's the last time F1 had a legitimate championship battle between teammates?

I don’t think Hamilton did anything wrong. I just think it is Father Time. He’s where he has been all season, and last. He doesn’t have the best car and he didn’t the last few years at Mercedes.

I think age. He’s 40-years old.

Answering my own question: 2016 with Rosberg and Hamilton.

When he complained that there was something wrong with his car compared to Charles it was “Danny Ric is washed” deja vu all over again.

I’m not a fan of Hamilton’s, I’m not against him I’m just not for him.  I’ve said many times that I’m a Schumacher fan, Michael, not Ralf.

I admire how dominant Hamilton was with a car that was so far ahead of the field. He won the races but, his fall to average has been quite stark.

He has six pole positions since, and including the 2021 season. Five of those came in 2021. That’s six in the last 95 races. He won eight races in 2021. He won two in 2024, none in 2022, 2023 and so far none in 2025. That’s two wins in his last 72 races and wasn’t one of those last year a gift?

I just think his time has past.

Albon got screwed with them deleting Hulk's time after Q3 already started. WTF. But that's why you have a strong 2nd driver in Sainz...nice showing for him.  And Gasley!? Going to be a fun race.

He’s constantly been a top 10 driver is avg leading cars. Also, he won the Sprint race earlier this year. He’s also in a new car this year - which is not easy for anyone. He’s in the mix with the rest of them in a new car / team. I think he’s fine.

Honestly he just cannot come to grips well enough with the ground effect cars. You can’t brake them super late which is his style. They need to brake earlier to start rotating into the corner earlier to get a better corner exit since they don’t have as much low speed downforce (ground effect is more speed dependent).

Adami was telling him to brake 10m earlier today which has to feel pretty odd when you’ve braked as late as possible your entire career.

Obviously he’s still very good, but is inconsistent. He should do better in general on front-limited tracks.

Ricciardo and Checo had the same issues, but they aren’t Lewis Hamilton, so it affected them more.

The new 2026 regs are not ground effect based, so hopefully we can see something a bit more exciting and consistent.

Gotta have the car or, with rare exception, you ain't winning it. And boy did Lewis ever have the car. IIRC 2023 was his only year in an F1 car that wasn't a race winner. Lewis is/was awesome, but if Michael doesn't decide to retire when he does - when Lewis desperately wanted out of Mclaren, was without a ride for the next year, and was looking for any good landing place - Lewis is very likely still a 1xWDC (which is great, don't get me wrong). He'd have been on the outside looking in with everyone else, while Nico very likely becomes a multiple WDC and maybe Michael pads his total on the way out if he could beat Nico, which is far from a given considering their respective form as teammates. A Merc driver was gonna win those WDCs either way, and who knows, maybe 2021, too.

I also still really think Lewis was ready to retire as a champion in 2021, and only stayed because that didn't happen. No proof of course. Just my gut. I doubt he'll ever be that sharp again. But who knows. I'd be happy for him to be that guy again. It'd be great for the show.

I think success is not always the same as greatness.

Just a couple examples; nobody will say that Robert Horry is a greater player than Jordan or LeBron but, he won seven NBA titles. Was he awesome? Yes but, in 16 seasons I think he scored way fewer than 10,000 points, in over 1,000 games.

Nobody, especially on this website, would say Franco Harris was a better running back than Earl Campbell but, Franco won four Super bowls. I think Earl was a better running back who didn’t have the same level of success. Flip the two and Earl’s success as a Steeler would have been epic.

I just think that the Mercedes was so far ahead of the rest of the field during that stretch of Hamilton/Mercedes domination. When that car can go from the back of the field with very little difficulty in a few laps it’s just so much better.

On the pre-race show they just did a short segment on Hamilton and his Ferrari struggles. Martin worked very hard at the end to try and say that age is not a problem for Hamilton, which he is no more qualified to say that than I am to say I think it is an issue.

What do we say Antonelli finishes the season higher in the points than does Hamilton?

I’ve said it before that my German cousins still give a ton of credit for what Mercedes became to Schumacher from when he came back for those few seasons.

I think Schumacher was amazing in his ability to help build a team and get everyone to accept nothing but the pursuit of perfection.

The field is really bunched together

Norris blatantly over his grid box on the start. Whoopsies.

That’s a tough one with such a great start. Hard to excuse though with the extra help they give them with the painted markers.

Six different cars in the top-10.

Piastri with a dominant victory. George 2nd, Norris 3rd. Chuck in 4th and Hamilton 5th. Max gets by Gasly for 6th and Gasly is 7th.

Great drive by Bearman, from the back to 10th. Ocon in 8th and Yuki in 9th.

Two HAAS in the points.

Russ Brawn might have had a small part in all of that as well as Schumacher.

Are you talking about Max or Lewis? Max is the latest broker on the circuit and it doesn't hurt him.

What is hurting RB, Merc, and SF is the pace of McLaren. Not age or braking.

Hah.... He tried to entice Lewis into a hug... Of all people. If there is a person Lewis would consider killing, it's probably MBS.

Lewis barely acknowledged him.

Exactly. McLaren being fast is the entire explanation for why Lewis is 6 tenths off his teammate. Makes perfect sense.

Lando’s performance might be one of the worst I’ve ever seen from a podium finisher. Qualified P6 with by far the fastest car, started past his grid box and got a penalty, couldn’t pass Leclerc on hards for lap after lap, including a huge lock up, then couldn’t pass Russel on old softs who was having all sorts of brake and gear box issues. Meanwhile Oscar is miles in the lead just chillin for an easy first place.

Come on, man....

Ferrari has been tuning a car for LeClerc for what is now six seasons. They know what his mattress feels like.

Who shows up to a team in year one and outruns the #1?

Carlos Sainz is 30. Ferrari should make that call right now, right?

Exactly. Lewis steps into a new team and car and has won a sprint race. Not to mention they aren’t catching McLaren. He worked his way up to 5th. No need to push harder than that.

Pretty pretty pretty good weekend for Tsunoda. Lawson, well, not so much. RBR, fix your pit light system.

Great drive by Piastri. Dude's a machine.

George has all the finesse of a brick in tight, wheel to wheel racing.

I think the Astons only kept the cars on the track just to collect data. Really.

If the softs can last that long, then why even bring other compounds? The tire situation in F1 is a pathetic joke.

Yeah the tire situation was strange, especially on that track where they spent all weekend talking about how open and "deg" the surface was.

And I really don't even know what Aston Martin is doing now.  They went from being Dr. No to being Dr. Evil in just a couple of seasons.

LMAO at RBR's pit light system.  Give me MOAR 6 second pit stops from them, please oh please.

Pretty sure they're all in on next year's car. Big Stroll is rumored to have made a bunch of noise the other day about getting Newey more involved with this year's car, but I'm not sure I buy that.

I guess I'd believe that except they seemed to suck in the same way last year, too.

It's way worse than last year. This is basically the same car as last year - that they stopped development on later in the season with an eye toward 2026. I don't even think it makes sense to apply any Newey polish to the current turd. From the broader team's perspective it surely must make more sense to focus entirely on next year's car, using this year's as a testing mule for some stuff, but not really wasting any resources on it.

They were slowest in Q and the race in Bahrain. Forget this season. Don't even bother wasting a cent of the budget or tunnel time on this car. Put it all into next season. I think AM were the first to throw in the towel for this year, starting last season, but more will soon follow suit.
