I think 12 teems is too many as well, but the reality is we are in a new era of college football.

All the things we used to love and what separated the college and pro game are mostly gone.

I’ve wanted a 8+ team playoff for decades. So, not I.

It's going to be expanded and it's going to be glorious.

Whatever. I'm happy for the players and will always love college football. But it's already morphed into a very different product in only a few years.

I maintain that Texas-USC was the last great game of the greatest era of college football. I (and we) will always have that, at least.

We are the 5th seed…

should have done 8 not 12.

8 was the idea for a long time then last second switch to 12

CFB 25 still only has 8 they didn’t find out in time to change it

I’d rather watch 2 mid teams play each other than a 1 seed blowout a 16 seed. At least it would be interesting

None of the “1 seeds” have played. These same mid teams would’ve played in the Interesting Bowl.

But why?
I find it hard to believe someone could watch the first 2 games and say, “You know what this tournament is really missing is MORE also-rans.”
I have no idea why people want less teams and have old dorks in a room decide who makes it. Decide it on the field, which they are. There were blowouts when there were only 2 teams. Blowouts when it was 4.

Blowouts happen in sports at every level. Doesn't mean the old model is now better.

Yup the opening round of march madness is full of blowouts and its still the greatest sporting event in the country. Unless the top 20 schools break off and form their own thing outside the confines of the NCAA, you're always going to struggle with the fact that teams play wildly unbalanced schedules. Hell even in just the Big 10, IU played a pussy ass schedule.

This is a mid take. I hear it all the time. Sure, cool moments, but it is an awful way to award a championship after a season of apparently meaningful games. I love it, but I don't want it for football.

It was the last Champ game that was also the actual Bowl Game(Rose Bowl).  Every Champ game after that wasn't affiliated with a bowl.  So it really was the end of the original Bowl Era, IMO.

I think this is actually the golden era of college football. Interest never been higher than during this playoff season. Even with the blowouts, people are excited that more teams are being considered than the usual suspects.
