Given the game stats, you would expect Texas to win 98% of the time.  Texas would be expected to win by 16 points given the stats.

I guess they do not consider the actual score ;). 100% of the time, the team with 38 points beats the team with 24 points.

For all the narrative about Texas's offensive struggles and would Texas be able to move the ball and score points, the Longhorns gained more yards than any of the other 7 teams in the first round.

I'm shocked that you're right. I just assumed Ohio State had 800 yards of offense after watching the game.

Is Helm back next year? God I hope so because Juan Davis is a vortex of suck. Niblack must really suck to not play over him.

Highly unlikely - He could be the first TE off the board and I doubt he’d pass that opportunity up, but maybe we’ll get lucky.

Don't bring positivity to our weekly post-win whine and cry session

I would have leaned into him and whispered in his ear

"hello Jesus, you are the reason for the season"

No SkyCam feed and I don't have access to the All-22 so a rewatch isn't going to be likely, but the day after I feel ok about yesterday. It is really annoying how we always have to make things more dramatic than they need to be. The pass defense had a bad day yesterday. Clemson clearly saw something on film with our Linebackers they wanted to exploit, but at the same time a large chunk of their success passing was Klubnik dropping dimes on low-percentage routes. Kudos to him. He was great. But if teams are going to rely on that to really have success against us Ohio State is the only team I'm worried about in that regard.

As for the offense, it was a good day. Sark has a fatal flaw in that he will overthink things and it was almost costly (don't mind going for it on the 4th down but just run behind Banks don't run a toss and I said it in my Georgia recap that the gimmicky, full spin, screen play shit needs to go) but other than that he kept it largely simple, knew Clemson couldn't stop the run game and leaned on it even when guys got hurt.

I ain't worried about skatty boo boo and the Sun Devils. We're gonna wreck their lives up front on both sides of the ball.

To me it was one of the best games I have attended in many years. I think the second half was the loudest I have ever experienced. We had a few Clemson fans in our area that got overwhelming for a few minutes, then our Defense shut them down and Blue broke their will, and they headed to the exits. It was a great night's be a Longhorn .

Was really impressed with the offense, especially the run game. Also Quinn had a few bad throws, but was decent overall. The INT wasn't his fault. Moore tried to catch it at a weird angle.

It looked like Moore stumbled right before/as the ball got there that caused him to not catch it.

I was shocked how early their fans left. A big group left at halftime

I lost a tooth last night. Straight up. I cant find it. Mrs Topper cant find it. This is some fucking shit. Fuck Arizona State.

If you are 6 years old then this really isn’t that big of a deal, other than the fact you married way way too young.

SIAP. Who was the stare down at?  FCB?

Glad he acknowledged the O-line, because that's largely true.  If they weren't doing their part, we wouldn't be able to afford to have a TE out in passing routes.

Big Bill Norton! The transfer from Arizona

During the goal line stand against aggie, we all remember Ethan Burke's play on 4th down, but it was Norton who pushed his man back into the ball carrier on 3rd down and shut down that play.

Other takeaways:

Thought someone said that Blue's run broke a record for UT? Was it Longest in UT History, or simply longest at DKR? What's that? 100 yrs? In any case, no one here will probably live to see it broken. Pretty memorable.

Forgot who made the long ball catch on an underthrown pass, but there was no way he shoulda caught it. Outstanding catch at critical point. Probably catch of the game.

Just guessing, but you'd think that the size of our Offensive line outmatches every team in the nation, except perhaps the top five. This is football. When you've got a size advantage, use it.. Suspect we were bigger than AND faster than Clemson.

Gibson sort of looking like a secret weapon. As well as he ran, seems the plays called for him never gave him a chance to build up a good head of steam. Would like to see that happen. Also, given unknowns about Wisener, it's possible we may be seeing more from him. Hope Sark gives the kid a little more to work with. Could be something special.

Immamac, I am especially happy for you and Gunnar, that you got to enjoy a once in a lifetime kinda game with him that you both will remember forever, without you having to manage the tailgate scene for the rest of us.

Couldn't happen for a better person.

You Rock!!!

Not gonna lie (NGL is always Natural Gas Liquids for me),

I got chills reading this. Bill Norton transferred to Texas knowing he was going to be a depth piece, and he blows up a play that will be be remembered for eternity. He personifies culture. Well done young man.

Wooderson is a super fan and that’s great and all, but it’s been like 20 years now- does tv have to show him 5x a game doing his thing?

Who woulda thunk, the national media would highlight of their own, a movie star? MM has been all Texas since before some of you were born and has been a great ambassador for all thing Texas.

Growing up in Austin, see Led Zeppelin for my 13th birthday, spending too much time with Jane, and going to HS in Austin in the 70's, Wooderson, and Dazed and Confused is a chronicle of my youth.

And he's from Uvalde, where my avatar is.

Back from the stadium. I've never seen someone actually look like they were shot out of a cannon. JFC Blue. I hope he had one of those gps things on.  Maybe Romance? Like a fuckin' rocket.

Blue was always a break away, turn on the jets speed guy; his recent boo boo's were an unfortunate distraction.

Blue being focused and having his breakout game couldn't come at a better time for us.

That run was so amazing. I was sitting in the NEZ and when he broke thru the line all it was was green grass and him burning the sideline running at us. It was so awesome!

I agree. Fucking awesome to see Blue squirt through the hole, floor it, and take it to house. Reminded of why I used to call Texas Games "The Ricky Williams Show".

These seats are perfect when Sark and Texas are cooking, using the whole field and getting the ball to the guys in space.

You can see WR's beat the guys off the line and know they are going to be open, there is a chorus of "Throw it... Throw it ... he's wide open", the QB finally throws it, too far (God Dammit!!!), and it fells magical when we score.

Nothing but kool aid this morning.

The team gained some confidence and maturity with this win. When it looked like they were waning AND when the chips were down, they kicked it into another gear. Hope they remember whatever it was that took over for them, because they're gonna need it going forward.

Very very few errors. Great execution on the blocking, especially the two long runs (which apparently were audibled). Very impressive.

Didn't Sark go on record as saying he got the idea to run the ball more from reading Surly?

Blue and Gibson having big games last night is the best thing that could have happened to this team. We will have a confident run game going forward.

1 down, 3 to go.

Wingo has been a bit of a disappointment.  He does not win contested catches and does not ever high point the ball.  His one trick is speed.

Whatever.

High pointing the ball is important when they under thrown.  I think he takes his reps with Manning in practice, and plays with QE in the game. One is not like the other.

Wingo's downfield blocks are what got him on the field. You can tell how different our passing, and running game is when Bond can't block with a gimpy ankle, and Wingo can.

It’s fantastic to wake up knowing we won the first playoff game ever at DKR and are headed to a reasonable next round matchup. This is fun.

Yesterday and last night was perfect. Chamber of Commerce weather, nothing but love at the various tailgates, eye candy galore, whiskey on a cool night v. beer while baking in the sun.

Texas playing and winning a good football game.

The QE/CK, Westlake -Southlake, storyline was a nice parallel, and happy that most of the night was about good players making good plays rather than someone screwing up.

We're one of the best teams in the country and our rivals and main recruiting foes aren't even in the top 25.

We're in a beautiful place right now, and it looks very sustainable.

Texas winning while playing well feels so good. End of Story.

The fact that OU and A&M and LSU are train wrecks at home watching is more icing on the cake then I can stand. Almost.

Blue run last night immediately reminded me of the 80+ yard JC run against Nebraska in ‘07. But I was at this ^^ game - his freshman year - and holy shit his speed/acceleration was incredible.

I'm old, from a time when RB's were it. I was a freshman with Earl.

Came of age watching Chris Gilbert and Steve Wooster and Roosevelt Leaks, Joe Washington, Tony Dorsett, Earl, Billy Sims, Johnny "Lam" Jones ... and the aforementioned Ricky Williams show.

Watching a stud running back with break away speed hitting the crease and knowing he's going to score is still my favorite play in football.

So much better going to the game and avoiding the game thread til the morning after.

My mea culpa.

Michael Taaffe has become one of my favorite Longhorns. Ever.

I privately ragged on Taaffe when he walked on. I knew nothing about him and figured he was another Westlake honk that was here just because. When he and and our entire defense was shit, I put more of that on him then he deserved.

But early on, I noticed he always hustled and was around the ball. He always presented himself well, which never surprised me. He seemed like one of those smart kids that Will Hunting liked to fuck up.

When he was awarded a scholarship, in front of the team, I was proud for him, like I have been for all those before him. He continued to work hard, learn from his mistakes, and be a good player and team mate.

He was snubbed on the SEC team. F those &#*@'s!!!

He was named as an AP All American. Couldn't be more proud of him. He deserves every thing he gets, and I mean that in the best possible way.

His last tackle at DKR was textbook, Darrell Royal was smiling down on Michael Taaffe. As was I.

Ok. I feel better now.

Someone needs to do another run it at the middle goal line mean with the Impractical Jokers like they did for the Aggies, that was one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen and we were able to do that with Clemson. And of course celebratory drinks were my version of a dreamsicle pure cane sugar Orange soda, four shots of whipped vodka, and two shots of half and half. It's fucking delicious

There have been multiple references to Muhammad getting torched several times. I may be completely wrong, but I thought two of the several were situations where he picked up receivers that weren’t covered by someone who busted an assignment.
