I have not paid any attention to Arizona St this year.

Looking over their games, they struggled with Texas State, Miss State (at home), Kansas (at home, won it in last 20 seconds), UCF (at home) and had losses at Texas Tech and Cincinnati.

We should win by 30+ and Arch plays the entire 4th quarter.

FWIW, ASU was up 30-3 against Miss State and coasted, and Leavitt didn't play @Cincinnati.  Bearcats didn't score the entire 2nd half, but it didn't matter because ASU's backup is Jeff Simms.

Kansas was just weird in that they were preseason top 25, choked 2 games to top 25 teams (UNLV and Illinois), kept on losing, then got feisty for a bit.  They almost beat ASU, almost beat Kansas State (8-4) and did beat 3 more teams that finished in the top 25.  They're 3-3 against top 25 teams.  But they suck.  They're basically Vandy I guess, in that they can do scary shit but are bad.

None of those except UCF took place since the start of November. They definitely figured some things out at the end of the season.

The Big 12 is going to rally around Arizona State to do something none of the rest of them could do last season. Can't wait to piss in their Cheerios again.

I'm sure the Hateful 8 are positively giddy to watch the past two B12 champs, a departure and a newcomer who was 3-9 last year, square off in a playoff game.

There should be zero playoff games at neutral sites except for the championships.

All the stupid bowl games should be over by time the playoffs start.  It's so embarrassing and bush league that playoff games are happening at the same time.

So we should be playing in Tempe???

They go however Skattebo goes. If we shut him down we win big. He’s their 2nd leading receiver.

I’m much more confident in our run defense than I was our pass defense going into today. We’ve faced good backs but hadn’t faced a good QB yet. Semis are concerning with how those 2 QB’s have played.

They might dick ride if we win or make it competitive but I can tell they already don't like us.  Except Tech.  Texas Tech seems cool.

Texas Tech and Arizona State is this meme. Very similar schools, fanbase, student body. I expect that to turn into a nice little rivalry.

They’ve played a really soft schedule. To give you perspective…..Georgia x2, Clemson, A&M, and Michigan are all ranked higher than any team ASU has played this year according to Sagarin.

There’s about to be a huge talent shift at the LOS based on the teams they’ve played.

Three of their last four (all Ws) were against ranked teams.

Again, they have figured something out and are playing well.

And BYU and Iowa State are ranked higher than any team Texas beat up until today.  Ditto for Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, SMU.  Boise too.

Not disagreeing with your point that Texas's line of scrimmage is going to be a potentially overwhelming advantage for the horns, but Sagarin is iffy.

Eh. We had some busted coverages that we haven't had all year. And Klubnik made some excellent throws that there isn't a lot you can do about. I don't expect the former to happen again. And without those the latter throws wouldn't have been enough to threaten us.

I would like to know what happened to our pass rush in the second half. It just evaporated.

This is why you shouldn't look at the AP Poll and advanced metrics to judge teams.

Sagarin: Iowa State 27th, BYU 28th, Kansas State 24th

FPI: Iowa State 27th, BYU 30th, Kansas State 25th

FEI: Iowa State 29th, BYU 18th, Kansas State 31st.

These are all fringe top 25 teams with 2 likely not being top 25 teams. 2 of these games were also close. Reality is, that's who ASU probably is. A fringe top 20ish team.

See above post. Texas has played 4 or 5 teams better than anybody ASU has played.

Jfc, I'm not saying they are world beaters. I'm saying they are playing their best football down the stretch and did it against the tougher part of their schedule.

Calm down there, skippy.

FPI is predictive, not a description of merit.   If you wanted to know there are more 4 and 5 stars in the SEC, you don't need a stat. I'm not very familiar with FEI,  I'm going to go out on a limb and guess FEI, like FPI, integrates talent composite.

Also, those games weren't all that close.  ASU had 3 score leads in the 2nd half of every game.  They opted to get cute (and almost screwed themselves) against BYU instead of scoring again when it was 1st and goal from the 4, annihilated Iowa State and were up 24-0 and coasting against K State.

Like I do agree Texas has a likely much stronger roster and there's a great chance the Horns roll ASU, but pretending ASU hasn't played anyone is silly.

We are going to mudhole these desert clowns. This should be a good tuneup game for the semis.

I wouldn't say that ASU "hasn't played anyone."

They've played 3 fringe top 25ish teams but 2 of which probably aren't top 25 teams. Let me put it this way, I think ASU would have 4 or 5 losses with Texas schedule assuming they played Georgia twice.

Gabriel worries me as do the OSU receivers who are light years better than Clemson.

With you on the pass rush. I assumed we’d dominate as the game went on based on the ACC CG.

Agree, pass rush was non-existent in the second half an Kade was dropping dimes because of it.

You do know that Gabriel, Oregon, and OSU receivers have fuck all to do with what happens in our game with Arizona State?

How about we get through this next game before we wet our pants about what evil lies beyond?

No way Arizona State fans are as bad as Tech though. I grew up in west TX and those people are batshit crazy. A dark jealousy and delusional hatred for anything burnt orange.

Had a plastered 30-something take a swing at me in Lubbock at the 2006 game for “cheering too loud in their stadium” when we scored. I was 16 years old with my family. Again, those people are crazy.

I remember when I got my acceptance letter to UT and I was obviously excited to gtfo out of Midland, dream school, etc. My moronic high school baseball coach- “Tech is just as good of a school as and is a lot closer to home, Wilcox. Why would you go there?”

You seem like a Big 12 troll. Good luck with your playoff game that you qualified for.

I wanna talk shit, but I know ASU is in for an uphill fight in this one.  That's fine.  We were picked last in the Big 12 and won the bitch with like 35 of our 2 deep coming back.  All of this is gravy.

Even if you whoop our ass, to quote Obi-Wan:

The sand people are easily startled, but they will soon be back and in greater numbers.

Cam is a badass and we've shown some small vulnerability to really run focused attack this year, particularly in combo with the QB run. If ASU is able to drive and eat clock, you could keep it close enough for our self destructive tendencies to give you a chance. But I wouldn't bet on it.

If ASU can't run, ASU is going to get annihilated.  Even if ASU can run, I just don't think we have the dudes.  You'll need to give it to us or we have to get fancy.  Or both.  I know one missing player shouldn't matter, but ASU not having Tyson is a major problem.  He was the guy who could always get open.  ASU has plenty of guys who look the part, run the part, occasionally make plays at WR, but the consistency...  We'll see.

We weren't even supposed to be here.

Think of this as playing Sand aggy, but with extra STDs.

ASU is nothing like them.  ASU doesn't have oil money, doesn't dress up as fake soldiers, doesn't think success is owed to it and has actually won 10+ games more than once since 2000.

Ratings don’t mean much until they take sos over total wins
