I’m as down on Bert as anyone but he’s 9/9 inside 40 yards this year and that would have been 34 yards. It also would have extended the lead to 3 possessions just like a TD would have. You kick it.

I cringe every time Sark makes Auburn kick from the right hash. I believe this one would have been from the left of middle, which I am ok with.

It is shocking that he appears to be doing it deliberately. Sometimes I think he does things just to make our players do something that he thinks they should be able to do.

This is the epitome of Sark overthink.  Well done, well done.

Ah yes, ASU coeds.  Also known as "Southern California's leftovers."  Too hot and slutty to study, therefore they couldn't get into UCLA or USC.  God bless 'em.

I 100% suspect more longhorn fans than ASU but crazy to think some just traveled a few weeks ago for the sec championship, then back a few weeks later and possibly again for the national championship.

I will be holding out for Jerry World and ATL part 3 if applicable.

Maybe but the play takes way too long to develop and it seems like every team Texas plays has that play nailed. Worked one game and Sark has stubbornly stuck with it and it’s a pick six waiting to happen

I hate that fucking play.

we beat Clemson by two touchdowns and we didn’t even play good after the first half and even in the first half we still didn’t play our best. Sark tripping over his own dick, and defense decided to play its worse game so far this season, and also give props to Kade Klubnik, dudes a baller and made plays. However even with all that, that was some of the best football that Clemson team has played all year and we still dominated most of the game. If Texas can beat a top 10 roster by 14 playing its C+\B- game I’ll take it.

Still waiting for Texas to play its best ball and Sark to call a perfect game, hopefully it comes this week and for the next three

Been an expensive year to be a Longhorn fan. Ann Arbor, @aggy, SEC championship, and still going

We just need to add another fake.  After the spin QE should pump fake to the receiver behind the line and then spin again and pass it a receiver behind the line on the other side

Gimme a week or so to cook.  The last time I was actively posting here, it was ShaggyBevo, some blacklab dude ran it and me and a guy that went by ShineGlo or something had a conversation during a Missouri game thread about how 'Wanton Hookery' was both an accurate description for Mill Ave/6th Street and also an awesome band name.

Maybe we should just hand it off to the first guy in the sequence?

I realize you guys are joking...a little anyway, but SOME kind of counter to this play would work at this point.  Everyone seems to know what it is when it's happening, so faking it and doing something else would be wide open.  Provided of course, that the fake is executed faster than the actual play.  It can't be fake the handoff, pirouette, fake the throw and do something else.  The 'something else' has to happen before the pirouette.

We had half a yard to get to essentially close the game out. You go for that half yard every time.

Is it worth the times other teams have bounced back after a stop like that? I don't know about that.

It certainly doesn't work every time. Here is our ranking on fourth down conversion success:

image.png.3f06258eac8c39ed08281d900361b06b.png

They weren't all less than a yard, but they're usually pretty short distances. The percentage of Auburn making the kick is somewhat better. The impact of the kick would have been about the same as a touchdown.

I still think Auburn's strange unreliability was a big part of the decision. Of course, I'm a football idiot, so who knows. I certainly don't share your certainty.

Were you similarly livid when Sark went for it on the first drive from essentially the same spot and we scored 7?

You should really read an entire post before responding to it. Had you done so, you'd see that I ended up not being livid.

Early in the game, it looked like it might be a horse race of scoring. I was okay with it. And there is the whole Auburn thing, another thing I mention in the post you didn't bother to read.

I think Texas has about an 80 percent chance of winning.

If Texas loses, it will be because we make early mistakes, ASU capitalizes on them, and takes a big early lead that we can't dig ourselves out of. Underneath passes mixed up with more exploitation of Muhammad, opening things up for Skattebo who will be eager to make a statement against the people who think Jeanty is better.

By avoiding rat poison and playing focused without playing scared, I think our advantage in the trenches, our depth, and our talent will overwhelm them. Would like to see a 28-10 type of halftime lead, and to finally avoid these 2nd half letups and letdowns. No brakes. Hook em.

that's the +23

are you sure that's where it was?

not doubting you but iirc it was further back

Audibling out of the plays like that also defeats the other team listening in on the unencrypted radio communications from Sark to QE for the other team to know what play was called beforehand.

the other team doesn't have to do shit to get our calls

sark's mouth is on blast

there is a documented conspiracy between the high-endzone camera operators and the director in the truck to show sark's mouth up close in focus on 90% of his playcalls

now, does this conspiracy extend to the opposition so they can radio over/down to whoever has the mic to the defensive radio helmet?  don't know, can't prove it

but the mouth of sark on blast is a feature not a bug of every game for the past 2 years regardless of league, stadium or network

Unfortunately for me, I did read your post. You said “I think the decision this time is mitigated by the poor performance of Auburn. That mitigates the decision, but does not fully justify it.” Auburn is perfect inside 40 this year (9/9 I believe). In fact he hasn’t missed one inside the 40 since September of 2023.

So, you were irrationally angry about going for it, but then you convinced yourself it wasn’t so bad for irrational reasons. I feel like I’m arguing with my wife.

Lived in Phx for the last 25 years. Know a bunch of ASU people. They’re generally good people, not at all like aggy or tech fans.

I suspect ASU will do a little better than most people on this board expect. And the RB Skattebo is very much legit. But in the end Texas will be too much.

All my ASU friends will be sad. But that’s just how it is.

I wanna talk shit, but I know ASU is in for an uphill fight in this one.  That's fine.  We were picked last in the Big 12 and won the bitch with like 35 of our 2 deep coming back.  All of this is gravy.

Even if you whoop our ass, to quote Obi-Wan:

The sand people are easily startled, but they will soon be back and in greater numbers.

You're cool. You can stay.

with a dimedropping qb that we couldn't stop, up 14 it was still game on with less than 3 minutes to play

the defense didn't play bad, but they did get tested in a way no one other than georgia has managed to do

my "still waiting" is for sark to manage a 3rd quarter so the opposition doesn't get hope, we continue to own "game control" from the first half and we don't shoot ourselves

the 3rd quarter melt is becoming a feature not a bug and it sucks
