100% agree. I would much rather go experience another college scene.

Drinks on Mill Avenue is always a good time pre or postgame especially when it’s 70 degrees and sunny in Tempe.

Yep. Would make for a much better gameday experience all around, vs downtown ATL

Yup. And I say that as a resident who has season tickets to Atlanta United. We basically just hit breweries before or after matches but it’s not a gameday experience at all.

That said, for anyone going, the Benz is a good stadium and the food and drink options are great. Cheap burgers and dogs and beers if that’s what you want, or craft beers and cocktails and more upscale eats too.

Haven’t we taken him to LA twice? 1400 miles

And San Diego for the Holiday Bowl.

They're assholes. They absolutely could allow him to be corralled in a tunnel. They clearly don’t want to find a solution.

I was working with their head chef and the entire catering dept for the SECCG.

They have a great menu and know what they are doing. Very competent staff and chef. Kinda bummed we didn't get to eat any of their stuff.

Nor should they feel obligated to. It’s a large ass animal that we have by choice it’s not their problem to deal with.

I think Bevo, and Longhorn cattle in general, are large all over.

This is the beginning of moving the SEC champ game to Jerryworld.

Alabama should bring along a live elephant to their postseason games.

Who gives a shit?  Isn’t that a compliment to you guys that they don’t want him there?

I mean, it’s kind of a big part of our tradition. But yes, it doesn’t matter. I just see it as a dick move.

Yep it's not a big deal. But because mascots are not a big deal Texas should just exact a policy disallowing any visiting team mascots at conference home games. That would obviously also be no big deal.

Was Bevo not allowed at any SEC schools stadiums this year?

What difference does it make? Allowing live mascots presents an extra logistical issue for gameday operations to deal with. Just disallow them all. Obviously home mascots have a location and are part of standard operations at every school. So home teams have their mascots, makes perfect sense.

Unless for some reason now we think it's a big deal for a team not to be able to bring their live mascot.

The stands are really close to the field at Mercedes Benz.  There really isn't much room.

Mascots are cute. Mascots are cool. Mascots make no fucking difference in who wins or loses.

Plus those georgia peach nuts are still pissed after the Bevo vs. mouthbreathing dog incident.

On a positive note. Here we are in the playoffs about to curb stomp ASU. And this boards concern is our mascot.

I don't disagree. It's a bit strange that some people here are bewildered that Texas fans would have an issue with Bevo not being able to attend but then also have an issue with a suggestion that there just be a blanket rule that live mascots only attend home games. Do they matter or not?

If I were just trying to be spiteful then I'd suggest that Texas institute a role specific to dogs and men dressed like milk men.

I think being unconcerned about a single non conference stadiums policies while simultaneously thinking universal mascot/stadium policy reform is overkill is pretty reasonable idk. Weird point you’re trying to make here. Locations are different, if they can/want to accommodate then great.

I meant the other conferences like the SunBelt, MAC, etc.

Same thing.

For example, if you ref in the SEC, you also will (probably) work Sun Belt games because that’s the consortium agreement. But not all Sun Belt refs work the SEC.

The Big 12 is in a consortium with the Mountain West and Southland, so if you work Big 12 games, you also will (most likely) work MWC and Southland; however, you can work in the MWC or Southland and not necessarily work in the Big 12.

Really wish they would assign smaller conference officials the jobs to oversee the power 4 games and vice versa.

Wouldn't mind that sorta-hottie that Pitt-Tiger knows.

Think he's pointing out the hypocrisy here, from the people who mock our fans for wanting Bevo at the game, but would also be pissed off if they couldn't bring their mascot to our stadium.

my question was - how does belmont feel about it

adding a 2nd question: "from the venue itself" can mean AMB or the Georgia World Congress Authority and i am interested in knowing who is making the decision

"there is no room" is bullshit - the stadium's soccer pitch is 110 x 75 with room to spare

there are 4 tunnels, 2 at each end, and the pen would occupy half of one of the tunnel entrances

they really need all 4 tunnels operative for a football game?

were we offered the opportunity to buy the real estate necessary to retract 20 or 30 seats out of the football configuration to create the space for his pen?

i'm just asking questions

The Arthur Blank Foundation gave $20M to UT in 2020 to establish a stuttering research institute, so the athletic department ought to contact them if they have a real concern about BEVO attending.
