Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. This is the receiving corps they are coming in with.

And they weren't exactly playing the '85 Bears all season. They haven't seen a defense even remotely as good as Texas'.

Ranking the 8 remaining quarterbacks in the College Football Playoff by PFF grades

ASU has a WR problem, but Leavitt has been very good all year. He is actually graded the #1 QB in these playoffs by PFF. I still dont think ASU is going to break 20 pts, but people are under-estimating him as a player.

Three of his best 4 games came against atrocious Ds in Wyoming, Oklahoma State and Zona. The other was against ISU and Skattebo completely gashed them on the ground.

He's had a nice season but he isn't Michael Penix. I don't think he's even better than Klubnik who had to play some very legit Ds this season - and with a better supporting cast and some defensive mistakes by Texas put up 24.

Regardless - it isn't really about Leavitt. It's about what he has around him. You can give any QB this season that supporting cast and I think they will run into a lot of problems against Texas.

I do not think he is a great QB. I am pointing out he has been a damn good college QB. He has 17 TDs and 1 int over the last 6 games. He has thrown 3TDs or more with 0 interceptions 5 times in that span. I agree that this will be a tough test for him. I doubt the OL can hold up vs the Texas pass rush and the WRs can get open. I am just saying he isnt a scrub. He is capable of making some plays. He would probably rank in the top 3 of Qbs that TExas has faced this year.

Either that or you are over-estimating PFF’s grading system. Any formula that spits out a result instructing the user to prefer Leavitt over Gabriel, Allar or Ewers for the go-forward this season should be immediately dismissed out of hand, rather than pointed to as a credible reference.

You should have seen this first, and avoided the idiotic aftermath of attempting to use it anyway.

“But that’s what the machine told me to think. It’s got a formula. It must be smarter than the rest of us. “ Right.

Also, everyone here knows the guy is a competent QB. That’s factored into the knowledgeable observer’s outlook.

That is strange take away given I said the following

I guess you just felt the need to espouse on the virtues of PFF's grading system. Hope it made you feel better

You are a bizarrely obtuse poster, Codaxx, and I dig that about you.

That is the irony of this. When I wrote I do not think ASU will break 20 pts, I assumed most would understand my expectations for Leavitt in this game and how seriously I took the #1 grading by PFF. Just saying the guy is a good QB

$37 gets you in to the Peach Bowl, and this is with the insane SeatGeek fees.  Lulz.

With all the empties we'll see at this game and the Fiesta, going forward we'll see home venues until the championship game. One of a couple changes that will be made.

There were a ton of cheap tickets to the home games on the aftermarket but the stadiums was full. IDK if you can draw that conclusion. Also the home games don't have huge sponsors that are forking over enough money where a 90-95% stadium capacity is still a major profit.

I don't think ASU will score much more than 20, if that. But I'm ok if the Horns win by "only" 3.

Texas right now reminds me a bit of the old saying "slow is smooth, smooth is fast". Other than playing against Georgia, the Horns just win. Maybe not by as much as we'd like, or as pretty as we like, but they win.

And if the other teams think they can hang with us because we only beat Vandy by 3, then by god, let them think that. Because they can't hang with us.

Hook 'em!

Fair point on the sponsorships.

That's what I would want, but I doubt that will ever happen.  The Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Cotton bowls won't let it happen.  I doubt there will be a lot of empties.  For $37 I'd go to a CFP game if I lived in the city where it was being played regardless of the teams.  Probably gonna be a bunch of cripples and homeless people in the stands though.

Praying to Allah the semis will be like this but tickets are already looking like $300 for the very last row in the highest level.

ASU are just trash people.  It's easy money.  Nothing could go wrong.  Sark being 1-4 against ASU and allegedly being so drunk that someone else called his plays in the single win isn't a big deal.  Your guys bench and squat way more than their guys.  Get the free money.

I still don't understand why he talked all that shit about being better than Quinn.

Even if it's true, which is debatable, you're the one going against the best defense in the country.  Say that stuff to your teammates behind closed doors, but I don't see how saying it to national media can help your cause.  You're not getting into our secondary's head and you might just make an ass of yourself.

ASU is just happy to be there, man.

And don't worry about jinxes.  The Desert Voodoo doesn't travel.  If this was the Fiesta Bowl, y'all would be fucked.  Atlanta though?   No way.

It's because they are aware they're overmatched personnel-wise and are hoping to win the public confidence battle and then hope for a fast start in the game. Teams who believe they are evenly matched and have to play great to win don't chirp to the press all week. Only two groups do that, those who truly believe they're the best around and are insulted by anyone who questions that, and those who realize they are overmatched and are trying to trick themselves into believing and also get the opponent to play too emotionally especially at the start.

Our defense needs to just use it to focus more, not to play angrier. If they execute then we will win. There was some bad Ant Hill again last game which could be a problem tomorrow, he got lost a few times on defense.

Any chance cotton bowl tickets are cheaper than expected? lol

Not if Texas wins. There are tens of thousands of us factoring in lack of travel and accommodation costs to go to the semifinal.

12.5 is a problem. The o/u at 51.5 is also iffy. For UGa, I'd like the under, but this one is uhhhhh unclear. I like the under, but I can see a possible score-fest. All in all, I believe I'll watch and enjoy.

Every ASU fan I’ve met has been pretty chill, save for one dude that tried to argue that ASU/AZ was a bigger rivalry than ALA/AU for some reason.

I think they are a good team. I also think we play our game and overwhelm them.

Just win, baby! 🤘🏼

Dude, he's a freshman at ASU and thinks he's really good.  He was mad Oregon and Oregon State didn't offer him, left Michigan State when the Oregon State coach who spurned him moved in and ran Rashada out of town.  It isn't mind games.  He's a fucking kid who thinks he's great.  To be fair, he's pretty fucking good.

It's not a big deal.  Most of ASU's guys have massive chips on their shoulders.  It's why they are where they are.

He’s Klubnick with less experience and fewer weapons downfield.

Leavitt was a huge transfer take by ASU and almost as crucial as Skat’s transfer two years ago for the 1st time HC. Kenny D has turned that program around, almost overnight. I think they won three games the previous season.

Good for them, as I’ve always kind of liked that program. If you ever go watch MLB spring ball/golf buddy week, you can’t help but tour their campus/stadium at least half a day. Go Sparky, except for tomorrow!

Yeah, I guess, I just don't remember the overconfident underdog routine winning very often.  It comes off as scripted, fake, and desperate, to your point.

This version also sounds more than a little selfish -- he didn't say our guys are better than their guys, or we're better than people realize; he said I'm better than him.  You could be right and still lose by 14, kid.

I didn't say they're doing it consciously, I'm explaining why people chirp. If he truly thinks he's better then he's just a moron but I don't think that's better news for his team.

Personally, I dont put much into bulletin board material at this point in the season. Its a playoff game. I assume nobody is lacking motivation. Doing it in week 4 in a nondescript game as almost a 2 td underdog is unadvisable. I hope the Texas players feel the same way. Texas just needs to play their game and mind their assignments to win this game.

Territorial Cup is a big deal out there, but it's definitely nowhere near as huge as the Iron Bowl game. ASU fans are pretty chill when it comes to football because they're not a big football school. No reason to be hostile when football isn't the expectation. Basketball and baseball, that's a whole nother story.

There only 1 team in the country that has turned the ball over less than ASU. That team is Vanderbilt. Vandy only has 7 turnovers on the year. They turned it over 3 times vs Texas. Hopefully, ASU matches that.

Having 7 million grads and 300,000 students helps too.

(Okay it's not that many but it's close)
