I'm thinking this game will be somewhat similar to the 2023 Big 12 championship game vs Oklahoma St, both in terms of quality of opponent and how it plays out.

Did we win?

You think Sark doesnt know how to do that? Lol. He isnt some 3rd grader calling plays like you do in Madden. This is a dude who has forgotten more than any of us will ever know about football.

Yeah, but what does he remember?

How well does ASU fans travel?  Given the number of Texas fans I saw at the SEC championship game, I think we should have the majority in the stands.

Also, we have a pretty big alumni base in Atlanta. The Mellow Mushroom would always have a big game watching party.

I don't care if we win by 1 or 50 next week I just want to enjoy the ride a little longer. The semifinal game against osu/ore may be the defacto national championship game if Georgia doesn't have beck and they lose in the next 2 games. My hope is we dominate next week and pull our starters at half time while osu and Oregon absolutely beat the shit out-of each other in a 6 OT slug fest.

who the fuck we play next week??

Tix are expensive from Austin too, and we’ll have about 50 people at the game…

My son made reservations for hotel & flight several weeks ago.

They might dick ride if we win or make it competitive but I can tell they already don't like us.  Except Tech.  Texas Tech seems cool.

No they’re not. I got one tech grad I’ve been in a dynasty college fantasy league with since 2006.

he actually tells me a few times a month how glad he is we left and how we got away with so much.

and calls me a liar for saying big 12 refs routinely screwed us.

Three of their last four (all Ws) were against ranked teams.

Again, they have figured something out and are playing well.

Exactly.  Anything before November should be taken with a grain of salt. They played very well down the stretch and destroyed a decent ISU team in the CCG.

Gimme a week or so to cook.  The last time I was actively posting here, it was ShaggyBevo, some blacklab dude ran it and me and a guy that went by ShineGlo or something had a conversation during a Missouri game thread about how 'Wanton Hookery' was both an accurate description for Mill Ave/6th Street and also an awesome band name.

Now that’s some callbacks.

Fun fact, we've only played Arizona State once. The 2007 Holiday Bowl which we won 52-34. Another fun fact, Shaggybevo started up around that time, mostly in anger over how terrible the Texas football season had gone under Mack and Hornfans iron fist that suppressed any anger over said terrible season.

Good times.

Another fun fact. We've never played in or won the Peach Bowl.

I couldn’t believe that when I saw it last night.  Just crazy we’ll be first to win them all. Figured bama or Georgia or OSU would have played in them all by now.

Wait....you actually believe that networks show up-close shots of Sark making play calls 90% of the time? 9 out of 10 plays....that's what you think? Where exactly is that documented?

i have the game dvr'ed

don't make me do science

The first thing I am telling the defense….?

Do not try and tackle Skattebo above the waist.

First or second guy there needs to wrap both arms around his ankles.

I saw this forty years ago when we played  Pitt in the Bluebonnet Bowl and we could not tackle Craig Iron Head Heyward in the first half.

We started going for the ankles in the second half and stopped that shit

Skattebo is the same type of runner.

I was at that game, too.

Senior DT Steve Llewellyn played his last game for Texas with a brace-harness-contraption on his injured shoulder so he and the rest of the Texas Defense could punish Heyward. Safety John Hagy was launching himself into hitting Heyward on run downs to help stop his momentum, even DTs like Rocky Allen got into the act on run support and QB sacks.

Skattefuck ain't going to have breakaway speed, so punish him. We've got the war-daddies to do it, and DT Bill Norton has already faced him when he was playing at Arizona.

The misconception with Skattebo is that he’s some big Mike Alstott like bruising back (6’1 250) he’s a bowling ball at 5’10 215. Ant Hill and Gbenda are 235 and Lefau is 225. Y’all making him sound like Bettis or Okoye.

I will tell you right now if we try and tackle this guy above the waist he will kill us for extra yards.

Get his ankles.

I was skiing with my buddies on Mammoth Mountain.  We got shit-hammered watching the game, stumbled to a bar "to pick up chicks", got more shit-hammered and I'm not sure what happened after that, but I'm pretty sure no chicks were involved.

You kept your sock on right? Right!

Yea....you have a point?  Mine would be that the most points our defense has given up in a 2H all season is 14 so being up by more than that would be the way.

Yeah, unfortunately this year Sark and our QB have a penchant for close games. Whether it is a timely interception, a poor coaching decision, a costly penalty, or a fumble, we have notoriously kept lesser teams feeling like they have a chance. We totally dominated Clemson and could have easily been up by 21+ points and forced them to panic or lay down, but that didn't happen. And it hasn't happened all season. I guess this time could be different, but I won't count on it. We will win, but I can't remember our last blowout victory.

You are blaming Sark and the QB for being in close games ?

I have news for you……our opponents have good players too and the talent gap is getting smaller every minute.

There will be no more dynasties in CFB.

I’m telling you as great is our run D is they better not go high on this guy.

We should put up a billboard near campus or hire a skywriter so the defense knows for sure.

If you can find it watch the Bluebonnet Bowl from 1987.

Tackling Iron Head was like trying to tackle a VW Beetle.

So then you clearly have not been watching this season

In conference play, we beat Mississippi State, OU, and Florida by a lot, Kentucky was somewhere in the middle, and A&M, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas we kept in the game through dumbassery. This is an away game against an opponent who would be middle of the pack in the SEC. It's possible that we could blow them out, but I think it is more likely that we will gift points and keep them in it similar to how the Clemson game went.

Going for ankles is how a strong runner steps through tackles, that's a terrible idea. If you want to go low your target should be between the thigh pad and the knee and wrap up the legs.

If you try and tackle this guy above the waist he will embarrass you.

Between the thigh and knee is great in theory but doesn’t work on this guy.

You have to wrap him up by the ankles.

I am with you on going low but if you get two guys there one of them better get his ankles.
