These never factor in injuries or roster changes in-season, correct? Is there one anywhere that does?

Not that I'm aware of. The model nerds seemingly don't want to subjectively tinker with their models for injuries, which are difficult to quantify in college football. The best you'll get is someone on a gambling show saying how much they adjusted their power ranking, or just watching for betting line adjustments

Yeah, I'm not sure why Navy loses this game - Navy giving up over 10 seems like an erroneous assumption. OU is very depleted and Navy will be well prepared and excited to play.

Thanks for the responses to my question and the obvious reason I was asking about it now. I like the dashboards during the season but it’s a twisted thing that as the models get better, injuries and exits become more plentiful and can impact single outcomes in sometimes extreme ways.

I’ve been scratching my head about OU being favored in this game against Navy since the game and line was announced.

OU has 24 available players on offense with 12 of them being freshmen. They can barely field an offensive line, they have 2 TEs with limited utility or experience, like 3 WRs and a true freshman with no backup at QB.

Meanwhile, Stutsman and Bowman have opted out on defense. While I think Stutsman is seriously overrated and Bowman did not have a great season, they’re 2 of their better defenders. Depth on the front 7 is also a problem if someone gets hurt.

Finally, you have the unusual offense for Navy. OU’s having to incorporate new personnel while working on a weird defensive gameplan.

It all seems like a recipe for Navy to run away with this. The advanced stats have to be jerking off to the Bama win for the forecast to be that lopsided in OU’s favor.

Well the line opened around OU -2.5 and is now a pick, so yeah, adjustments were made.  I think Navy wins outright.

Am I a bad person for kind of wanting pig to wreck tech?

No because we already took from Arkansas what they wanted most and they're harmless to us. Tech being taken down a peg again would be enjoyable. Not that it will change their strange bravado as a program that's never won anything in football. At all.

I’ll be cheering for Arkansas. I feel obligated to despise them due to history and legacy, and I really do hate their “if we beat Texas and go 1-11, I can live with that” jihadist shit, but my disgust for Tech is current.

Tech is actively working on getting access to the PUF. They were constantly jihading Texas just like Arkansas anyway. The Double Eagle guy thinks he’s Phil Knight with a 20th of his worth and is fucking with multiple transfers and recruits every cycle.

So fuck those dipshits. Go hawgs!

This is where I am at, especially with the program putting on airs. The only upside to their 'resurgence' is that Tech probably gets into the college football playoff before before a&m, which will be endlessly hilarious.

Something that has become a concern for me as the regular season and recruiting season have progressed -- probably unduly -- is that Texas has unlocked all the cheat codes. Maybe to the extent that 12-team playoff football becomes a little less competitive than it ideally ought to be. Especially when it comes to Oklahoma, I wonder what happens to the entertainment value of future seasons if they start to suck too much.

But at least for today, regardless of who we "should" root for in each contest, it's a fine day of football. If the entire Axis falls, great. If the assholes all win, the "Longhorn schedule sucks" argument gets even more tenuous and we won't have to listen to it as much. Hard to go wrong today.

of course this is not the thread for this subject - in what forum will you continue this topic?

None? I do not go to the CR and the Daily Texan is mostly hot garbage and an echo chamber as well.

Further, I find the subject matter boring. The simple reality is that Tech people in the legislature are campaigning among peers that they deserve an equal share in the PUF as a key public university in the state.

We all know that’s bullshit and it’s a driver for Texas working to avoid Tech in all sports and has stopped new forays on the research and academic end as well, allegedly.

Hopefully. But I’m skeptical. I think it depends on how much OU wants to be there. They’ve had time to prepare. The doubters have all entered the portal. Will they be true believers taking the field today? Will they have something to prove?

Navy lost to Rice and Tulane. Their biggest win was that beatdown of Army. This game means something to them but not more than that.

I’m rooting for Navy but an OU win won’t surprise me. I feel like we’ll know early on whether the Sooners showed up to play or not.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard her call a game. Is she bad? Doesn’t look particularly bad, at least.

Now, the sideline reporter appears to be wearing some sort of Howdy Doody mask and looks terrifying.

She’s kind of annoying. And I’m not anti-female announcer, I like Mowins and Burke. Lyle just grates my ears with her commentary that’s about as deep as a kiddie pool
