Not that it matters, but I think it's the right thing to eat the delay of game and save the timeout.  Whether you are at the two yard line or the seven yard line with 12 seconds left, you get to run two plays.  Two passes into the endzone.  It does not matter as much if they come from the two yard line or seven.  Any run play is high, high risk even if you only need two yards.  So eat the delay because a tackle in bounds at any point needs the time out for the FG kick.

A&M just gave up a 17 point lead to a QB who has no idea what he's doing. Then the other team's defense hands them the lead again by playing semi-prevent with a 4 point lead and over e minutes left and they let that guy do it again.

Yes that was correct. Being in the position to have it called by subbing in that situation was the idiotic part.

It probably helped more than it hurt. It kept Riley from doing something stupid like trying to run it in and wasting his final TO, only to have his stupid QB catch another tipped pass and run out the clock.

I have to say that is the worst timeout call I have ever seen a defensive team do that late....ever.  I can't honestly recall a stupider timeout in all of my football watching.
