If I was Iga's new coach, I wouldn't be blowing my paychecks on useless stuff.  Ostapenko just handed her another loss and she is currently in a dogfight with Eala (ranked 72) in the second round of the Madrid Open.  Eala won the first set and they are on serve late in the second set.

This young lady won her first round match in Rouen. Some parents need to just settle on a name to avoid long names like this

More fun today for the announcer.

Naomi is also playing in that 125.

Iga wins the warmup 6-0 and then splits the next 2 sets 6-7, 6-4 to advance.  The Sakkari roll back time machine continues against Svitolina a little later.

For those of you that play tennis, how many times do you have matches that end up with lopsided sets (6-1,1-6,...)?  I played in college (lower level) and have been playing USTA League tennis for years and I have only had a couple of matches that went that way.  Even then, the sets were more like 6-2,2-6.  I do play almost exclusively doubles now, so that is definitely a factor as there are fewer service breaks.

I have a pretty solid French accent for a person who can’t speak the language and yet would be lost with these two French names.

Never played competitively, yet this never has happened with anything I have played.

I first notice this with Andre Agassi in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s. A player gets behind and says “Okay, you get this set, now let’s move onto the next one and I serve first in the set.

It occasionally happens in the ATP, but is rampant in the WTA.

When Keys is on, her forehand is like an ATP player’s forehand. She absolutely destroys the ball and it’s fun to watch.

She has also slimmed down quite a bit. Flat stomach and seemingly better stamina.

Last week I was studying breast in the Keys vs Kalinskaya match and both ladies had extremely flat stomachs and tight tops to help me with my amateur research project.

Keys’ rack has definitely dwindled since her early 20s whereas Kalinskaya has gone with a heavily padded bra this tournament. Perhaps dating men’s #1 & fashion model Jannik Sinner has required a step up in on-court appearance/desirability.
