I knew what the fuck I was writing. Maldito gringos, puto grammar nazis. Que se cagan de frio y que sus penes convierten en paletas.

Yeah, Latin America's weather may not change much, but damn it can be descriptive.

Still an odd choice to escape east instead of west. Lots of good sex tent locations out this way.

It’s a free room, with no doubt that water and electricity will be there, with a casino giving out free drinks. How is that hard to understand?

Twenty six years ago, I spent 3 nights in Lake Charles with some friends.

The first night there I made a few hundred dollars playing craps then I moved over to the roulette tables. I hit roulette 3 times in a row. I made a little under $15k in two hours which was a lot of money for me at the time. I figured statically that I would start losing my winnings if I continued so I quit gambling for the rest of the trip.

I lived off of free casino drinks the rest of the trip. It felt like purgatory. It was the wost.

The only escape was a chick I met at the casino bar. Actually, my buddy met her at the bar but I managed to walk off with her for a couple days of banging.

Anyway, staying in Lake Charles is purgatory. It's the worst.

Naming winter storms is just stupid.

It's so inland people can have something too.  In this case, Houston folks are double dipping- not that it's their choice, but they are bearing the affliction of Cantori visits in both the Summer AND Winter.  Whatever the name of this little weather system is, it's never gonna be something like Ike, Rita, or Harvey when you say it.

Been wondering if Cantore has been anywhere else for both a hurricane and a snowstorm or if that list is gonna start and end with Houston...

Watched him be right across I-10 from me during the aftermath of Harvey helping rescue people from an apartment complex that got flooded out by barker and addicks reservoir... and now even tho I have moved three times he is once again pretty much across the street getting ready for a snowstorm...wild shit

Played blackjack for 8 straight hours with Eddie Van Halen in Tahoe. He sat down next to brother and I and could not have been a cooler dude but man he must have had at least 50 beers. Valerie Bertinelli came down several times to yell at him to get back to the room. Did not suck.

Skinny Valerie or hefty Valerie?

Skinny Valerie or hefty Valerie?

Skinny. Circa 1988. Gorgeous. Funny story (one of many) from the 8 hours with Eddie.
My brother is named Jim. He hits on a 16 and busts. Bursts out”oh jimmy’s crying”. I look to my right and Eddie says “don’t worry man. Happens all the time”

Was with our parents and they came down to get us for a jay leno show we had that night. I said “ I ain’t leaving until Eddie leaves. Mom was not happy.
Just a glorious 8 hours .

Quick update (not much changed from my orig. post) for ATX:

The precip from this storm is coming from one which didn't exist as of yesterday - that is, the low has been developing the past few hours (as forecast). When this happens, it's always a little bit of a dice throw as to how strong it is but especially where exactly the "worst" of it (in this case ice/freez. rain esp.). Models have been pretty consistent the past 3-4 days but a slight trend upward up to our area (they've been consistent on Houston and the coast, which will get the brunt of this it now looks pretty certain, esp. up towards Beaumont and into LA). Target is the lower LA area, that'll be the most totals (up to 9" in or near NOLA).

So for ATX, anywhere from a dusting (western side) to a few inches (Metro → eastern) with totals increasing as you drive SE. But the good thing about this storm is that it's farily non-disruptive; that is, it's going to begin in earnest about dinnertime (after rush) and at its peak midnight→5 a.m. or so. Morning rush will probably be a little rough (as I said Sat.) but roads should be cleared up more or less by evening rush - temps won't get much above freezing in ATX but they will get that way, and clouds should move out Tues. afternoon and the sun will work it. So no big deal or at least a smaller deal than easily could have been. ATX is on the NW flank of this thing and since it'll be moving NE even as it fills in, the precip amt. for us is still on the lighter side (not so the coast) but it'll be moving away as it develops, so only 6-7 hours of light precip. Meh. Maybe a nice white blanket esp. eastern parts, probably melted by late Wed. Good idea to close schools around here i think, but it could still end up meh. All done by postlunch Wed.

The only other equation is what about icing? Again, the precip levels are light where we are, so I don't think more than .10 of ice would be around at worst (.25+ starts to matter for weight on trees/lines, etc.). And that's if anywhere near us gets it. My predic is that that very thin and spotted area will be S/SE of us where temps overnight might be closer to freezing and above (all of ATX will be <32° overnight tonight, so snow really is the deal and I don't see any warm pocket of air trying to push up.

TLDR: Maybe 1-2" for part of ATX (mostly east/northeast of us) beginning Mon evening into overnight, morning rush slippery here/there, all is done by lunch Tues.

Houston and points east of Austin: more snow but still mainly an overnight deal. Just don't drive, rather pull your car behind you with ropes. So much easier. Good luck we're all counting on you.

For Central Texas, my weather app currently shows a less than 15% chance of precipitation in Austin for the next couple days. Chances are higher south of us into San Antonio, but looks like maybe the streets in Austin will be fine tomorrow morning.

Weather apps suck.  They are terrible.  Use your local forecast or NWS.  Apps are often using data from private companies and some of those suck.  Follow someone local.  In your case, Avery Tomasco is actually very good despite being aggy.

Nah, its just snow.  Honestly, snow is no big deal... especially since we warm up during the day.  Ice?  Yeah... ice and freezing rain is the real threat and that should not be the case this year.  2023 suuuuucked.

There is a gorgeous red rooster who just has adopted our law office open patio. I threw him a piece of bread which he immediately scarfed down.  I know nothing about roosters and how well they do in 25° weather, but I cut a hole in a large box and put it outside if he wants to get out of the wind.

If he doesn’t survive, first, you make a roux…

Harris County, 20 inches of snow.  These fuckers have no shame with their clickbait.

The map showing 20 inches of snow is a historical record. That happened in 1895. The other maps are from the National Weather Service who have a pretty good idea of what could happen with the weather. There are some models calling for a complete bust for areas north of I10. Well just have to wait and see how it plays out.
