Some of you need to discover thermal underwear.

Exactly!

I bought a set of thermal underwear to go skiing a few years ago.

This past weekend, buddies and I had a golf trip up near Gun Barrell City. Sunday morning we teed off at 10:04 with a temperature of 35 and "Feels Like" 27 and an 11 mph wind. Wore the thermals, khaki slacks and a long sleeve shirt and parka and wool socks and never got uncomfortable for the entire round.

Literally the first thing I learned when I got to college in Maine 30 years ago.  Thermals will allow you to function in cold weather without being miserable.

My warmth routine when duck hunting has always been to 1) wear neoprene waders and 2) fart in them frequently.  Works pretty well.

Sweats under pants?  Thermal underwear?  Technical fleece?

I live in Austin, Texas for the precise reason I don't have to bother with that crap.  Sure I'll wear thermal underwear when I'm going snow skiing, but that's an occasion where I'm willingly putting myself into that environment.

If/when it gets cold enough for that here at home, I just don't go out in it.  Super simple solution.

Anyway, looking forward to getting through a last cold snap here, and then on to some warmer weather.  Winter has been long enough.

Kid's Thursday evening track meet in the 30's is going to be fan-fucking-tastic.  Last week's was mid 40's and felt like Siberia with the 50 mph wind blowing.

do you live in Shamrock?

Do you have the kind with a flap in the backside you can unbutton when you need to take a shit?

In high school, my hunting buddies and I discovered a bunch of union suits marked down to $5 at a local sporting goods store.  Obviously, we all procured one.  And that duck season, wore them around the cabin in the cold.  Gotta tell you, when it came time to drop a deuce in a cabin we could barely keep above 60 degrees, only having to undo a flap, and keeping the rest of your body covered in a thermal union suit, was a pleasure.

And yes, we looked about as classy as you'd expect.

lol this place is shutting down tomorrow. No way in hell this water dries on the roads before it freezes. Highways were soaked coming home.

Yup. Wife didn’t bring home her laptop from work today. So I sent her back to grab it after I made dinner. It’s going to be late start at minimum I think. So much water still on the roads.

AISD posted this at 6pm:

Based on the current forecast, we do not anticipate any changes to our normal school schedule tomorrow.
Road conditions are expected to be dry; however, temperatures will be quite cold in the morning.
We will leave campus HVAC systems running overnight to ensure comfortable temperatures for students upon arrival.

So many children will die because of this.

Eh, walked my dog around 7pm and the streets in my neighborhood had already started drying a good amount. Lots of wind and dry air will help.

It's been hovering just below 30F with a biting breeze all day here in the wastelands, But since sundown, it's already dropped to 20F. Hourly forecast shows it'll be 9F tomorrow morning.

18 in SW Austin. All week Wunderground had lows at 22 to 24 for this morning.  Last night I could tell it was going to be colder than predicted, as we kept hitting low temps 2 to 4 hours early.
