Marantz, Denon, Yamaha. All good. Marantz tends to have a little warmer sound than the denon though similar. Don’t have experience with the Yamaha but they make good shit.

Marantz Cinema 50
Denon X-3800 both in that price range when on sale
Yeah, I have the Denon 3800.. would buy again.

My Yamaha receiver keeps flipping out. I need to replace it. I have an OLED LG TV, a DVD player, and a three speaker configuration with a subwoofer. I may add the surround sound speakers in the future. I’d like to stay under $1k if possible. Good voice sound is critical because we are hearing impaired. Any thoughts on the best receiver?

If you want to go the Sonos route they are having a sale on refurbished stuff. I recently made the switch and like it

FWIW- I have a Yamaha receiver paired with a Samsung TV.  The HDMI control On-Off (when I turn the TV/ DVR on using DirecTV remote) is flaky at best.  Sometimes the receiver fires up, and turns off when I tell it to, many times it doesn't.  Seems to be a common problem w/ Yamaha-Samsung.  Doesn't impact sound, just a pita to mess w/ using multiple remotes when it doesn't work.

Also have a Denon receiver paired with a Sony TV.  Work great together.  On/ Off/ Volume control all in sync.  Don't know how different brands play with the LG, but, I'd probably do some research, as different manufacturers seem to implement HDMI control in their own way.

Sonos is great, but, if you already have a decent avr/ speaker setup, you're probably not going to see a lot of improvement.  Though the surrounds are cool, and you don't have to worry about speaker wires, just power cords.

The problem I have is that when I change the hdmi port to the tv via tha Yamaha, sometimes it changes properly and sometimes it doesn’t. Drives me insane.
