Oregon defense is bad. They take horrible angles and just seemingly stay out of position

Oregon's safeties were the weakness of their team the entire year.

Once you get to this part of the season you will eventually run into a group of good WRs. I think it's pretty similar to Texas last year against Washington with our weakness at safety. Luckily, Taaffe took a huge step forward and Thompson hit the portal.

A loss to Michigan.

And Michigan's season is over....

Outside of going 0-4 against Michigan since 2021

2024 Lost @Oregon 31-32 who went 12-0

2023 Lost to Mizzou in bowl but dumb dumbs ran off their QB in a dumb move and the QB they did play was horribad

2022 lost to Georgia 41-42 in the CFP semi

2021 lost to Oregon 28-35

That's it for losses you have 2 one point losses to undefeated teams either on the road or a neutral site and you have one home loss that would be considered bad. The bowl loss last year was just sheer stupidity blaming McCord for losing to Michigan I mean that dude led the NCAA in passing this year.

Without the maize and blue boogeyman inside their heads it's going to be tough to beat the best roster money can buy.

It wasn’t just the safeties in pass coverage. The run fits from the LBs was awful too

Even with his improvement this year, Taaffe is going to be a weakness against Smith and Egbuka because of his athletic limitations.

And Muhammad is going to have a very rough game. That's looking pretty much unavoidable.

Oh I get it - because he's white!

I watched Taaffe bail our D out by running down Skattebo from behind to save a TD. I also watched him put an ASU WR in the fucking hospital on a play that both wasn't flagged and wasn't deemed illegal.

But he isn't fast or athletic or can't hang with major programs because he's white. Even though he did all fucking season and was named a 2nd-team All-American for it.

Okay, Jan.

I wouldn't trade Taaffe for anyone on tOSU's secondary. I get your shtick but let's reign it in a bit here and give the guys on our team that have played their asses off all season some credit.

Texas was the best team in the country from 2000-2004 and won 5 straight national titles.

Oh wait, no we didn't, we lost to OU every season.

You're throwing the baby out with the bathwater acting like the Michigan losses aren't huge data points.

Terrible analogy lol.

A) Ohio State never lost to Michigan by 49+ let alone twice
B) Texas lost 2 additional games in both 2000 & 2003
C) Texas added losses between 2000-2003 were usually fucking dumpster fires (see 2001 CU, 2002 TTU, 2003 Ark)

uh, Taaffe had Skibbido man to man and Ice Age ran right by him, which is why he had to run him down.   I'm still not sure what Taaffe was doing.

Taaffe is very good but he does have some limitations.

Okay well your point was stupid to begin with. Discounting their losses against Michigan is ridiculous. They haven't won a national title since 2015 and that is a big reason why.

Let's not act like they deserve some sort of recognition for consistently beating terrible B10 teams. Earlier this season they played a horrendous Northwestern team at WRIGLEY then the next week got the worst P4 team in the country at home. Texas didn't play an SEC game as easy as either of those contests all season.

Ohio State mainly shows up with its athletes and bought roster and sleepwalks through what tends to be a shitty schedule and then when nut-cutting time approaches they fuck themselves out of competing for a national championship.

But we can't beat them or continue that trend because - what - we aren't wearing blue and maize?

He's a baller for sure, but I watched live in the Spring game he got embarrassed a few times by superior athleticism.

He may be the fucking hero and pick off Howard 3 times. But also those receivers have the most athleticism we've seen all year.

Taaffe and Jelani McDonald both missed a lot of tackles against ASU, and Muhammad was picked on for the second straight game. We have too many weaknesses in the secondary for Ohio State to not take advantage.

I hope they try that shit, because our DL can get more pressure than Oregon did and Howard will fuck up under pressure

We literally have the best secondary in the country. Leavitt just threw for 4.8 yards an attempt against us and did a lot of that because our front 7 couldn't get home on him.

The way you're framing it teams in the NFL have weaknesses in the secondary and would be hopeless against tOSU.

We're going to be fine.

You can put the white victimhood hat down for a second. Taafe is good. He’s not good enough to help contain tOSU’s receivers. I don’t think you understand how good all of them are, they’re literally one of the best receiving corps to ever play in college football. Also Skatteboo cooked Taafe on that long reception where Taafe ripped his helmet off.

I believe in our defense overall as well, but I don't know about being this blasé about the challenge in front of the secondary facing arugably the best group of WRs playing currently.

If we line up against Ohio State in man we may as well just hand them the Cotton Bowl trophy and drive home.

Have to stick with zone, bring some pressure and hope our D-line gets home. Even then our odds of success are slim.

I'm not being blasé but I'm not going to sit here and cry into my dick about how unstoppable Ohio State's passing game is.

Both the Texas secondary and the tOSU WR's are looking at facing their biggest challenge of the season.

I'm going to talk our guys up and believe in them because what else is the fucking point with where we are at? We didn't get here by giving up or getting smoked by opposing teams. We are a damn, damn good football team and tOSU is going to have their hand's full against us.

They can easily beat us - they are extremely talented.

What I'm confident that isn't going to happen is them running up 400 yards in the air like they are running 7 on 7 in August.

Have to replicate what Michigan has done to them defensively and hope Kelly/Day go full regard in the gameplay

So many pussies in this thread.

Y'all need to get a grip. These guys got stunted on by Michigan in their own stadium. They aren't invincible.

You can’t count the fluke Michigan games against them. As someone upthread pointed out, ALL of their losses in the past 5 years have been close games where they ran into bad luck. They absolutely ass-fucked the best team in the country yesterday. I have no idea where you’re getting your confidence from.

No yeah we've already established this. Let's not count games that they've actually played.

Let's not count the fluke Georgia games that Texas played this season. Texas is 15-0 - Ohio State doesn't stand a chance.

Again - y'all need to get a fucking grip.

I'm sorry, I was told we were going to pistol whip Arizona State all week, and look how that turned out. It seems natural to be concerned and respect Ohio State who has just murdered two teams and we are up next.

Cry more bitch good lord.  Next time keep your sunshine pump out of your ass and it might work.

I didn't say we can't beat them just it's stupid to expect "because Michigan!!" that's like saying any of the rest of the teams on the early 2000's Longhorns schedule thought "because Oklahoma!!"

More importantly can offensive guru Sark figure how to run against tOSU? Turns out the best line we've had in years got stonewalled by a bunch of skinny ASU DLs.  Also, can he figure out how to score on the 3rd quarter?  Or how to not look like a retard on another fake punt?

maybe Oregon wasn't the best team in the country.
