“Son, that last one faded right. You’re gonna wanna bring it to the left….way more than you think.  However much you’re tempted to bring it to the left….double that.  Now kick the fuck out of this ball and let’s get out of here and go to Applebees.”

we know for sure Sark is not the placekicker whisperer.

I haven't read a word of this thread, as I was in RR watching the game with my soon to be 89 year old dad, class of 1960, and my younger brother, who is a North Texas jazz man teaching jazz at a small private college in Indiana.  Some observations:

1. This old man still has his marbles, AND fascinates me with some of his analysis.  At what I was sure was the end of the year, when the refs looked for targeting against us, I said "they're gonna get us for targeting, game over," and he calmly stated he did not think it was targeting.  He was right of course, and I asked him specifically what he saw that made him think it was not targeting, and he replied he "did not see the receiver's head snap back", and I said "I defer to you on any further targeting calls."

2. Of course I probably fascinated him with my prediction that our kicker would miss both kicks and "We need Dicker the Kicker" out there.

3. As far as the RB goes, we gave up calling his name, and substituted "Superman".  When we heard he threw up on the sideline, we noticed a specific trend.  When he was in the game he was either the decoy or the only offense they had.

I will never forget that run near the goal line in which we stopped him but it took 6 of our guys hitting him to knock him down.  He took the handoff at the five, immediately got hit with a hit that would make most RBs fall immediately iMO, then kept going and was finally knocked to the ground by the sixth defensive man to contact him at the 2 yard line.

4. I think it is very possible I learned today what fans of teams who played against VY in 2005 must have felt.   You don't tug on superman's cape, but sometimes you get lucky and superman finally gets worn out.  I cannot believe we actually beat Superman today.  If I'm a GM in the NFL today, I take this guy 1st round easy

5.  Our Special Teams coach needs some quality time with the best Special Teams coach of all-time to try to figure out how to defend against a fake punt. Is it Bill Belichek?   Why do we suck at defending the fake punt?

6. FG kicker?  try someone else!!! Is it true we have a stud kicker on scholarship who is not kicking because ????

It really is amazing how we constantly shoot ourselves in the dicks to make these games close

roughing punter - FG

4th and 2 halfback pass - TD

2 missed very makeable FG's

shotgun from the 1 - safety

Ewers arm punt for no reason

Thank goodness Dillingham kept going for it early in the game.

Fake punt for 50 yards when we're about to break it open

I've got about 5 mins left in regulation re-watching this game after watching live. These refs were even worse than I thought they were at the game. Missed call after missed call after missed call.

I wont blame the refs 100%, but their comeback wouldnt have been possible without them. It got a little ridiculous.

Speaking of the fake punt… illegal man downfield x2

But nots not part of the narrative out there

The refs deserve an F.

They were terrible.

it wasn't Okie St level of inventing calls, but the LACK of obvious holding, targeting (against us and then the no call on Taffe), phantom defensive holding, and this shit on the fake punt.

There is no way this crew a called playoff level of officiating.
IDK if this is even Texas high school football level.

It was some of the worst officiating in lack of calls I’ve seen in a while.

I mean they had 510 yards or offense to our 375. We had no business winning that game and somehow we did and are back in the semis. I forgot what it was like hating our coach that’s taking us to the pinnacle. If sark helps us win one like Mack did I’ll be fine. But damn it’s amazing how bad sark can be from great to dog shit level in literally one series. Can he just find a middle to get in after being great and not drop off so damn hard and fast?

Maybe “they” didn’t have any business getting back in the game after 2 screwed 2 FGs’, and pulling their ball carrier across the goal line. Just sayin’. You cannot isolate one stat and Nostradamus the outcome. Yes Sark sarked this one , but somehow a W.

You get to watch Auburn shank it twice

The only bad thing about the two kicks is that they did not go through the crossbars. Neither one was a true shank.   More like a fade versus a slice  in the first one.

Can Texas do open auditions among the student population to see how many former high school kickers and soccer players there are that might be able to step up?

We'd be better off with fat drunk fucking Shane Gillis out there at kicker

Think about all that went wrong in this game:

Fake punt

Skattebo pass for TD

ASU gets 150 more yards than us

Interception in the 4th

Two game winning field goals missed

Not one holding call on ASU

3rd and 15 in first OT and Leavitt runs for it

Sark sticks his head all the way up his ass

We run for 53 yards

Ten penalties

…and we still won. Unfathomable.

Whoever we play on the 10th likely mudholes us.

Don't leave out Scattebo being lifted and pulled over the goal line in OT, an obvious penalty not called, along with 5 Texas false starts caused by defensive disconcerting signals.

Where did I say our defense got run over? I said we were lucky to win that game and we were.

You are right , but ASU got lucky that Burt shit the bed, and that the refs don’t care if you are pulled over the goal line, ….stuff like that. It cuts both ways, I guess you hate being lucky.

Question for referees- the rule for the penalty prohibiting pulling a ball carrier says it's a 5 yard penalty subject to "three and one execution".  What the hell is that?

Per Open AI- Three and one execution is a situation that occurs when three refs see the offending "pulling" player and they summarily send him for execution by guillotine as punishment.
