I’m resigning to the fact that 4 is going to toast us, hopefully we can weather it.

You can bet he is going to win some but you can't let them all get going like Oregon did. Cut the head off the snake and get after Howard. That's what Michigan did.

The offensive meltdown and stupid play on the HB pass has made everyone forget that Skattebo was quite literally tapping out of that game.

The HB pass was really the turning point in the game.

While we kept stepping on our own dicks we were pretty much in control the entire game before that. I.e. up 2 scores throughout the game. Momentum is a hell of a thing.

If that HB pass is stopped it's a 20 point win instead of OT.

Tessitore is unlistenable.  Just call the game.  Fans don't need other fans to grovel into the mike

Palmer is good.  Forget he sells furniture and he actually dissects the game pretty well.  It's the clown next to him that's the problem

ASU was a big underdog and the press/all non-Texas fans were pulling for ASU to beat Texas.  Just like in the NCAA tourny everyone would be pulling for an 8 seed to beat the number 1 seed.  Human nature.

Announcers get caught up in the same dynamic.

But Tessitore is a fucking beating at any game.

There were Georgia fans all around us  pulling for ASU.  Fuck.  Them.

Need to have people quit texting me during the first quarter and telling me how good Texas looks and how we’re going to beat the shit out of the opponent. Happened during the Clemson and ASU games. Have to keep reminding them how atrocious we are in the 3rd quarter and how every team we play comes back and makes the game stressful in the second half.

What do you mean back to super hated? We were super hated even when we were losing, we're just super hated. I'm glad CDC and our coaches on campus actually embrace that now.

Wrt the refs.  I feel like it is such a rarity to get neutral refs, but I have looked and can't find a true box score.

Felt like there were so many uncalled penalties against them, almost like a Rig 12 job again, but that won't show up in a box score.

Does holding ever get called against our opponents?  I mean ever?  And pass interference, targeting, illegal man downfield, etc.

Even though the Clemson game had neutral refs, they. missed the illegal picks on the Clemson TD early.   Does this mean after the fiasco yesterday we are overdue for neutral refs against OhioSt?

That fan base is bizarre. Became instantly obsessed with us after the game in Austin, like they had just won the Super Bowl. Huge born loser syndrome. They remind me of ISU fans.

I think they actually buy all of Kirby’s bullshit about them being perpetual underdogs.

ESPN "Get Up" this morning, national show, lead discussion is the uncalled Taafe targeting no-call and hos ASU wins the game is it gets called.  Not Greeny or any other one of the pinheads mentions the just as obvious targeting no-call the other way on the Ewers interception.  Sloppy, sloppy reporting.

Not “just as obvious”. Taafes wasnt a penalty

Anyone want to tally up the points they were gifted from bad or uncalled penalties?

I have 10 points, and potentially 17 if their targeting personal foul would have been considered before/during the interception.

The amount of bitching about this play is ridiculous. Would’ve been a backbreaker if called, but it’s funny how all these people are just giving them at least 20+ more yards and a made field goal from a kicker even worse than Bert. In this hypothetical scenario, I choose to believe we block the kick again and take it to the house for the win.

Called it live.  Those officials sucked in all game.

They had to have illegal men downfield on both the fake punt and the 4th down where Leavitt ran around and we eventually got a (pretty weak) defensive holding called on us

Plus come clear jersey grab defensive PIs against them that went uncalled and a bunch of holds that went uncalled

Waking up this morning I still can't believe we won

Peach Bowl 2025 went from the worst college football game I've ever seen in my life to one of the best football games I've ever seen in my life real quick thanks to Quinn & Golden on 4th and 13.

Tre Moore was held at least 67 times.  Ok maybe I’m exaggerating, but only slightly.  It’s like ASU decided that the officials won’t call it every single play so let’s just go ahead and do it every play.  To their credit they were correct.

It's mainly something that the Aggies romanticized because they long to be loved and appreciated for their virtues.

I think the SEC SEC chant emerged from pride in strength rather than brotherhood. "You fuckers couldn't cut it in the holy SEC." I also think the regional element of the South's chip on its shoulder about losing the War to Preserve Slavery played into it.

We're not Southern. We aren't part of their storied history. We aren't limp dick Aggies wanting the reflected glory of other teams. People always want to see the overdog lose, me included when it's not my team.

We caught support when we were underdogs for the lean years. It's the game. Looking at anything through an Aggie lens is a bad idea.

They're pro underdog and ratings.  So far, this year's CFP has been fairly meh.  Besides yesterday, what was the next most compelling game of the playoffs?  That's why I have little doubt the scales were tipped to keep ASU in the game as best they could.  Not calling holds.  Extending drives.  Just basic fuckery that kept them hanging around.  I get all that.  It's this team LETTING them hang around that needs to stop

While I love the optimism lets be honest here. Jeremiah Smith looks and plays like he will be the #1 overall pick in his draft class.

One, Ryan Williams is pretty good.

But more to the point, I doubt those deep passes where Oregon's "defense" completely lost track of the guy happen against our defense.

Oregon probably gave up more big plays in the first half than we have all year.

Michigan, Indiana and Penn State all kept him in check. Our guys can and will be able to do the same.

My biggest concerns this game don't surround our defense vs. their offense.

Probably could even shortened it to just "pro ratings." The announcers are part of promoting what is being sold, a full game broadcast, filled with sponsors who pay for more than three Longhorn plays at the start of the first quarter. Announcers primary motivation is holding on to the audience that's tuned in. Sometimes the quality of the game alone is enough, most other times the announcers need to add a little juice to it. Here, the David/Goliath theme is real drama, and unsurprisingly used by all seeking viewership, even after the win.

And I thought Jesse Palmer did a solid job sharing his insight.

I was going to make this post: "The refs in this game were just bad.  We had a lot of calls go our way as well."

But then I lised out the missed and iffy calls for both teams, and they nearly all went ASU's way.

Bond's last few games, he's been a net negative. He doesn't put much effort into blocking and doesn't fight for the ball. Early season Bond was great. Late season Bond... not so much.
