Fuck you, Arizona State

I mean, we're well beyond the point of ever thinking any officiating crew is going to give Texas a fair game. We were 108th or something in penalties for. No targeting on Bond. No holding calls on ASU's OL. No OL downfield call or OL holding call on the scrambling 2PC attempt. No negating Skattebo's TD when he was pulled three yards into the EZ by the OT. DPI on Taaffe instead of OPI on Skattebo for elbowing Taaffe to get separation. No DPI against Wingo on at least two plays where the DB was pulling his jersey right in front of the LJ. It's been that way since Chuck Strong at least. No PF late-hit call when Ewers was on the ground and got hit three times (shades of the Michigan game when he kneeled it and got smashed).
This is what Texas is up against.
Absolutely. But what is the reason? Did someone at Texas piss off the NCAA or the refs? I had a feeling nothing was going to change when we moved to the SEC. It wasn't just the Big 12 refs, it's now the SEC refs and then the other day was Big10. That's beyond just a coincidence.

Big Ten already knew the winner of the Peach Bowl would be playing a Big Ten team, which probably should have disqualified its refs from the Peach Bowl. No idea if ACC would have been better, but they probably would have had less of a "dog" in the fight.

Just to pile on, 62 of skattebo’s yards were due to a defensive pass interference on Taaffe that was actually a clear as day offensive push off. Taaffe then grabbed his facemask, but they should have offset and replayed the down.

And nary a bottle was thrown....I guess we are officially desensitized

Yep. He piled on his output in the last 7min of the game into the overtime. He was not some all world player who was dominating Texas defense all day. He simply took advantage of the circumstances at the very end. Good for him. Doesn't mean you dominated, though. He was a footnote for 53min of that game.

His TD pass was so bad, it worked to their favor because our DB couldn't adjust or lost it in the lights. This was not some good play by him. He chunked it as far as he could and looked like Hurts in the SB against KC. His TD in OT was after he was stuffed and his OL had to throw him in, which was illegal.

White trash Tebow then proceeded to cry after the game for attention just like Tebow did when he lost to Bama in 2009.

I wonder if the old under the table dirty money is going to zebras now that players can be paid market rate.

I always default to incompetence over malfeasance as the explanation.  I do think it's human nature to be energized by the underdog, though.  I also believe the refs had it in their heads that they would try to let the teams play, and only try to call the most obvious fouls (false starts, offsides, etc.).

"White Trash Tebow" pretty much sums up the entire Scattebo concept and discourse.

With the new 12-team playoffs, there will be many more players like this to come.

-- Punk ass players who are good to very good, not great, playing for newbie playoff teams.

-- Newbie teams (ASU) playing bluebloods (UT) all claiming "We belong!" ... "We played'em tough"... "We got respect!" .... blah blah blah.

Just like March Madness, a newbie playoff team will upset a blueblood and dudes like Scattebo will be all over TV ... until they lose and will be forgotten nationally.

Scattebo won't even be a footnote to the 2024-25 playoff saga.

Just another dude who had his 15 minutes of fame in a losing game.

Just to clarify the 62 yards weren't due to dpi , that would only be 15 and not in his stats. He caught the ball so it was 62. Obviously OPI would have negated that and been offsetting penalties with the facemask

I saw Brett Yormark was bitching about the ref calls.  You would think he knows better than to fuck with us by now.

For a guy who has done with ref crews what Yormark did as Texas and OU were leaving the Big 12 it is beyond rich that he's bitching about them now.

“Let’s replay, review, dissect and analyze ad nauseam only the plays went against 1 team.”  Fuck off.

If you want to play that game, you can probably find at least 3 plays where if any had been called correctly for Texas, Quinn is kneeling on the ball in victory formation to end the game and 4th and 13 never happens.

Missed/Ignored calls are usually much more impactful than the actual calls that were incorrect. Arizona State was allowed to hold all day. They got away with a blatant hold that prevented us from scoring an easy TD. These don't show up on the stat sheet.

Also if we want to talk about targeting, I believe Quinn was hit in the head on that final drive or the one before with no call.

Arizona was allowed to hold and lineman go down field illegally on that 2pt play to tie it. We stopped it but we get called for a weak hold call.

I tend to think it's just because We're Texas. No one's paying every crew to pocket calls for Texas all year long and the NCAA isn't intervening against one of its most valuable commodities. That's absurd and someone would leak it eventually, intentionally or negligently. It's too big of a story to not have someone inform. We'll see...but I doubt it and lean towards We're Texas. How many 1st and 20s would there have been if the refs threw flags for even 10% of the holding committed against T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy? How many automatic first downs would the Texas O have had if the refs threw flags for even 10% of the DPIs against Worthy and Mitchell? Those seem to be subconscious underdog favoritism, like this guy is going to have a 10-year NFL career and that guy is going to be selling used Hyundais on the side of 114 in Levelland.

ASU got the boost thanks to several blatant missed ref calls to stay afloat in the game. Their coach is now blasting the targeting non-call which was the correct call. They are such sore losers. Take the loss pussy.

But it's so hard not to like him!????

Someone posted an analysis last day or two that showed the very high profile teams actually don’t get favoritism, they get fucked by the refs.
So yeah, “Texas pays refs and gets blatant homecooking every game” is just loser talk by pussies trying to justify their relative lack of success.

Big 10 refs don't call holding unless you're actively tackling someone from behind or committing murder.  I know a fair number of USC fans.  They've been screaming about it all year.  It goes both ways.

You can like it or dislike it, but it's just the way things are called in that conference.  If you want the iffy shit, I've seen the block that broke your punt return TD called before too.  Looked like a good hard hit to me, but he was sorta coming from behind.  It is what it is.  Y'all won a physical game where you were outgained by 150 yards.  Bitching about refs with the Dub is kinda lame.
