It's his running, and if he had our WR's he would feast. He just doesn't have the talent we do. Dude can escape the pocket like houdini. I'd take him 10/10 times just for his running. Imagine him having Bond. Moore. Wingo, Helm. He would just maul the competition. He's that good. He did the best he could with what he had. He's a baller.

Have you watched him talk though?

Hes a cross eyed brainlet that couldn’t understand our offense.

Rewatch this.

Thx. I was at that game and yes, some of the calls were very strange. Every game has calls that enrage the fan bases, the whole conspiracy angle very laughably Aggy.

FYI, the ASU forums are full conspiracy posts about keeping the Big 12 out of the championship, lol. Just as Aggy is full of threads about how UT somehow paid off the refs from the Big 10!

I was at that game too

I promised it was my last time paying for a rig12 game.

Went to some OOC games then went to Texas Tech when we hung 70 on em. once we left for the SEC I went to Houston (since it was in Houston) and Kansas (the hottest game ever).

Got to briefly meet CDC and told him how awesome it’s been being a fan since he took over and how great it was to get out of the big12.

Just praying we don’t get rig12 crew friday

OSU's Howard's pre-game comments are much more mature than the embarrassing, amateur-hour shite from the ASU whiners. Have fun with your 15 minutes of fame, losers.

"That was the only team I didn't beat when I was in the Big 12," Howard said on Sunday. "They're always a good team. But none of those games were unwinnable. Definitely excited to get another chance at these guys."

"Texas is a heck of a football team," Howard said. "So we're going to have to be on our stuff."

Having seen pictures of the ASU coeds, I'm 100% in favor of this.

Every game has good and bad calls. There are games where we have had controversial calls go our way. Fans of loser teams like Arizona State and Aggy cry about it.

Yes, they do,  Teams like aggy and ou play "politics" with UT is those sort of situations too. They know that sports writers and columnist both locally and nationally will naturally take their side. They will write columns or state opinions  that tries to tarnish UT's image. That is the difference between UT fans and the others.

Their beef, if they have one, should be with the officiating crew, which clearly thinks it wasn't targeting.  It's not like Taaffe was headhunting.

Saw a clip of the hit on a Facebook page. (I know) some of them were accusing Taafe of trying to injure ASU players the whole game based of the nontargeting and the facemask on the bowling ball. Craziest shit I’ve ever seen.

There are a lot of so-called college football fans out there that go bat shit crazy in their hatred of UT.  Never totally understood it. Maybe they aspire to be dumber than sooner or aggy fans.

ASU fan again.

The targeting non-call is getting overblown.  Was it targeting?  Yes.  By the rules, it was.  Was it a malicious hit?  No.  Your dude was trying to make a play.  The refs were scared to make the call because targeting is a horrible fucking penalty in that there's no difference between incidental and maliciousness.  As such, refs tend to be reluctant to call it in critical moments because it's such a nebulous thing and it means dude is out for half of the next game too.  I think everyone knows it's an overly punitive penalty.  It needs to be changed.  If it's just 15 yards, that's called 100 times out of 100.

I'd have loved it if Shamari Simmons was able to play the whole game.  First thing he did when he got back in was light your guy up and force a safety.  Maybe we're not down so bad to start the game if we have our best defensive player.

I get the no call.  Refs don't want to decide this game or the next game in the playoffs.  Moreover, people act like it's a forgone conclusion that ASU would have won in regulation-  Dillingham was only sort of joking when he asked for student tryouts for kicker during the season.  There's no reason to be confident ASU was gonna win in regulation.  In a perfect world, it's a 15 yard penalty with no implications for the next game.

ASU had you guys just about beat in OT anyway.  Then they showed pressure twice in a row on 4th down.  1st time your boy jumped.  Showed it again and Ewers made the right check and Dillingham openly said it was his mistake for not having the ability to check out of his all in blitz against max protect.  ASU didn't disguise it well and got caught.  Sucks.  Thought we played well enough to win, but we've got a lot of dudes coming back.

There will always be shitty, weird fans, but most folk are more proud than anything else.  We know we can hang with the big boys and there's a whole bunch of people coming back.  Rest is just usual post loss bitterness.

I appreciate your level headedness here, but I think there's definitely an argument that it wasn't targeting by the rules. HOWEVER, you can't address that without addressing all the other bs by the refs in this game that went against Texas especially the targeting that wasn't called against Bond, or the OPI on skat, or the illegal toss into the endzone, etc.

Illegal toss was illegal and should have been called, but it almost never is.  But yeah.  It was a penalty.  Annoying because it looked like he'd naturally broken the tackle and would have been able to fall into the end zone anyway if the dude would get out of his way.  I'm not sure I've ever actually seen the penalty called though.

Asking for an OPI is bullshit.  The coverage didn't turn his head.  Did he let the guy run into him while he measured it and create coverage?  Sure.  He'd have overrun it if he didn't though.  Every receiver does that and they'll always get the DPI call too.  This is a nonstarter IMO.

I don't really have an opinion on the Bond hit.  Could have been called.  A lot of stuff could have been called.  Both OL's were holding all game long, but the Big Ten refs don't call that.

I watched the Big XII Championship game and did not think that the Shamari SImmons hit on the ISU QB was not targeting and did not warrant ejection. Just my honest opinion.

The Iowa State QB saw his life flash before his eyes on a complete blocking miss and shrugged his way into helmet on helmet.

The rule sucks.

Watching their QB run his mouth after the coin toss for OT and Suckertbutt mouthing to the camera after his lineman suplexed him into the end zone was fucking infuriating. Watching them cry afterwards was well worth the infuriation. Tasty, tasty tears.

I was cool with the result either way, but yes if you’re going to run your mouth be sure to back it up when it matters most. Don’t go full Matt Hasselbeck against the Packers and declare victory at the OT coin toss.

I would also add that anyone crying conspiracy about a loss is full of it. The Horns were better at almost every position. They should have won and they made plays in OT when they needed to. I am new to the ASU fanbase, but I am not new to listening to dumb conspiracy theories. You just take the loss and move forward and look towards next year. Dillingham gets that, but some of these fans who are new to winning do not.

More curios about your view about the two massive illegal men downfield calls (fake punt and the 2 pt conversion) both of which would have had a major impact on the game.

My view is the B10 refs did a poor job across the board and missed/refused to call lots of stuff, but if they called a straight game, ASU was in a much worse position than they ended up.

Did not realize that was him. Agree the poster upthread, didn't like the call against him vs ISU, also more facemask than crown of helmet.

I know on Surly a win is a win is a win. But the above narrative is what makes games like the peach bowl infuriating. First, the very first drive of the game  Texas is inches away from a blocked punt that turns into a running into the kicker penalty (to later find out that shouldn’t have been a penalty at all) ASU manages to get three points out of the extended drive. Texas then scores 14 points over something like the next 45 seconds of possession. The ASU offense over the next 3.75 quarters scores 3 points. On 4th and 2 with six minutes and forty-two seconds left in the game, a runningback of all things throws up (no pun intended) a complete prayer of a halfback pass that 9/10 times gets picked, somehow turns into a 42 yard TD pass on a top 3 passing defense. Then with an 8 point lead and five and some change minutes left, Sark goes full on Simple Jack and calls a deep pass on 2nd and 4 when running clock and not turning the ball over is absolutely fundamental in that situation. I’ll give credit to ASU on their final drive, however at that point the defense had been on the field for over 35 mins because the Texas offense was shit on a stick. As cool and feel good as this game was for people that love underdogs that was in no way Texas’ best showing. It was not two juggernauts pounding on each other for 12 rounds. It was Texas playing around and ASU having absolutely everything go their way just to come back and tie the game.

Now I’ll give massive props and respect to ASU’s defensive front, they completely stifled our running game. But no, Arizona State is not an equal, to the upper echelon of college football.

# 22 was indeed covered up on the line and was 7-8 yards downfield by the time they threw it.

I agree with you about the rule. That is something that you will need to take up with the Big XII. You and the other former PAC 12 programs will soon find out how bad the football(and basketball)  officiating really is,  Utah has already complained about it. I Know that ASU will have issues in the future.

They actually have an event call the Undie Run, where all of the whores go out and run in their underwear. If you are a college male seeking herpes, what more could you ask for?
