There's also a section on Targeting, and why it wasnt called on Taaffe. He didnt intend to attack with the helmet. He was going for a standard tackle with his arms in the wrap motion milliseconds after the helmets collided.

Read 2., which is the application in this case. Different rules, depending on circumstances.

To quote Coach Parseghian in “Rudy”, “I wish God would put Skattebo’s heart in some of our players bodies”

Yeah, he almost single handedly pushed our shit in VY style from the RB position.  Dude is a fierce competitor with a Spartan mentality. We would run the SEC and the CFP  if we had fractionally more of his attitude in our offensive huddle.  So no hate from me after that game.  Just envy.

Man he’s going to be such a difference maker on the couch for the rest of the playoffs. He can mean-mug the tv and stomp around and close talk his iPhone camera straight into the MVP conversation

With that neat tattoo on his arm while yelling "MA! Where's the meat loaf?"

Name them.

I’m not trying to name 20 and didn’t make the comment, but the notion that Texas didn’t play numerous guys more talented than that roided up dwarf is just silly.

Michigan - Johnson, Grant and Graham are probable top 40 picks

Georgia - Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, and Malaki Starks are all top two round prospects.

Kentucky - The DT is highly graded.

ATM - Turner, Stewart and Scourton are all highly graded.

Clemson - Woods, Parker, and Carter are all highly graded guys.

That’s 13 guys without much thought.

If you want just offense, there are plenty of middle round grade guys that will go ahead of Skattebo. Loveland, Briningstool, Etienne, and Beck come immediately to mind.

The guy had grit and heart and played well once the Texas defense was worn down, but he’s not some uber-talented star the likes of which we’ve never seen.

As it stands, Texas will face 5 guys with more talent and higher NFL projections against OSU on offense next Friday. Jackson, Judkins, Henderson, Smith and Egbuka. Hell, maybe Tate as well.

I’d bet quite a bit that Tate will be drafted higher than scattatool

For me nothing but a big tip of the hat to Scatteboo.  You have to admire his dragging himself up to this level of play.  Do I think it was stupid to say he was the best back in the country before the game? Same for Levitt, in that it is ALWAYS stupid to talk smack about your opponents before a game.  Because there is plenty of time after the game to do the same thing! Show you are better on the field!

I think it is honestly hard to say that Levitt did not outperform Ewers.  Hell, he would have scored on about 4 runs if we was the UT QB the way the Arizona defense was ignoring Ewers as a threat with his legs.  But back to Scatteboo, that mofo left every bit of what he had on the field.  Kid showed his toughness, and if Duece Vaughn has a spot on Sundays certainly some team will take a chance on Scatteboo.

It was the most disconcerting feeling, watching this young man kick ass, as I lost respect for Sark in not reacting to the defense ignoring Ewers as any sort of running threat.  Could have called a naked boot at least. That opened the door for Scatteboo to have a fantastic second half against the good guys.  Kid is arrogant, but what badass kid isn't to some degree? But even as disaster loomed closer and closer, and the choosing of Longhorn scapegoats was beginning, I could not keep shaking my head in amazement, and he got pounded relentlessly by our defense and kept going as long as his body could.  Good example to any athlete of truly giving it your all.

I think Taaffe's comment that the guy veers to deliver the blow, and later having Scatteboo do exactly that says an awful lot about this guy.  I personally am gonna root for him going forward.  And hope to see his cocky little bowling ball ass in the NFL

He seemed to be shaking his head the whole time. Unless he got concussed early, he seemed to have weird energy on the sideline. I have never watched ASU but certainly based on the talk and the highlights I would have expected different vibes from him.

He does that all the time in every game. I think he might have tourettes.

I don't look at this kid with any sort of reverence for the way he plays. The posturing, preening, and sneering are major turn offs for me. As a player, he requires a high volume of the ball to do damage against talented teams, and the modern NFL game isn't likely to give him enough touches to replicate the success he's had in college.

Beyond that, I think it's honestly kind of sad what he's doing to his future self for the sake of glory today. But hey, it's his life and he can do whatever he wants with it. Good luck to him.

Not a great angle in that clip. Review team probably would say it's not indisputable that the teammate was trying to "assist in forward progress" because their momentum was carrying them in that direction, and whatever was going on with their arms was incidental to them trying to break their own falls. I need to see it again, because there were some angles where it looked pretty questionable.

Lol. The rule forbids grasping, pulling, or lifting. That German suplex he pulled involved all 3. It’s about as indisputable as possible.

Bobby and Gerry this morning seemed to think it's been legal for five years. I'd love to hear a rules expert's take because we got zero analysis from Tessitore (didn't watch him live, but I did catch the replay last night and of course it was 100% glaze session and 0% scrutiny)

They’re wrong. The rule changes there have permitted pushing since, I think, 2013, and about a decade longer in the NFL, but what occurred on that play is illegal at every level of football. It’s in black and white in the current NCAA rule book.

Now whether it ever gets called or not is another matter. And if that one didn’t, it never will be again, so they might as well just change the rule.

He hams it up for the cameras so much.  Like the play where he stayed on the ground waving for someone to help him up for 30 seconds.

He's the white trash version of Tebow. Playing everything up for the cameras. He knows the cameras are focused on him constantly and he gives them what they want. He's corny af.

I mean I prefer my players to not be so cocky, but at least he backed it up and played like the extremely tough motherfucker he is against our defense. Something their dipshit QB couldn’t do.

When the defense wasn't gassed, they shut him down. Stuffed his ass on a 4th and goal. The 3rd qtr where our offense only ran 4 plays, this was the undoing of our defense. They got tired. Good for him for taking advantage of that but he piled that up with volume at the end, Yes, it all counts the same in the end but his offense had 0 TDs with like 7min to go in the game. They could have used more production from him earlier on so they weren't needing a drastic comeback at the end. I hate doing the ifs and buts but if his terribly underthrown ball didn't connect, he would have been a footnote in these playoffs and Texas wins easily. Arizona St got desperate on that play and it worked.

But the better team won. Texas has the talent to keep up with Ohio State. Arizona St not even close. Grind and grit only get you so far once you start playing talented teams. And it was true against Texas until we shot ourselves in the dick all 2nd half and allowed them to hang around. Arizona State wasn't hanging around because of their talent.

I wasn't impressed. We bottled him up for most of the game. He is too slow to do much in the NFL.

There was another video from the sideline where it was abundantly clear that the lineman pulled him over the goal line. Not sure why Sark didn’t protest it.

The article says “all elements must be confirmed”.

The element that WR was defenseless was satisfied.

The one where the tacklers ‘purpose’ was to make contact with the helmet was not. Helmet was incidental contact during a bonafide tackle. (Probably why they call it a targeting penalty and not a helmet penalty)

The guy was a beast …

For majority of the game, the defense made him their bitch. His severely underthrown ball connected because it was so bad and he was allowed to extend his arm and push off our defender to create space, yet we got called for DPI. Where was he the entire game before they got every single break to tie the game? They could have used him there to not need a miraculous comeback.

This is where I am. It was a shit throw and if our DB’s had played even D+ defense they intercept it or knock it down, and we put the game away without another peep from Skattebo. Credit him for what he did after that point, but it all should have never happened.
